Mavric
Microphones or speakers? I could see the coaches talking to the QBs but I'm not sure what microphones would do. Quote Link to comment
strigori
Same set up the NFL uses. Every so often some college coaches push for it, but the munchkin leagues reject it. Quote Link to comment

Mavric
Apparently they are microphones that they are talking to Langsdorf with. Interesting. Quote Link to comment
QMany
Didn't they pass a rule change this year to allow QB/OC communication on the field? Quote Link to comment

It didnt clear the first vote. It shows up every couple of years, and gets defeated. If it happens at this point it will come through the autonomy group. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
I think the terminology is sloppy here. Listening to Riley's presser, he called them microphones but explained that it's a way for Langsdorf to call the plays without having to be right next to the QBs. So it's the same system the NFL uses - speakers, not microphones in the helmets. Riley said he's never used it before. I would guess Langsdorf brought the idea from the NFL. Quote Link to comment
Geaux Big Red
So he said microphone but meant speaker. Ok Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Supposedly the NCAA is letting schools use it this spring as a trial run. I would guess it's pretty likely it will be implemented for games in the not-too-distant future. Quote Link to comment

Thanks that makes more sense. Seems like a good idea too. Kudos to Langsdorf Quote Link to comment
