RADAR
You are good for a laugh, the players all bought in after a couple were kicked to the curb and one was called out in a national publication. We all got to see what finally buying in will do for you in the last 2 games. You mean a 3rd string offensive lineman and guy that was recruited solely by Mike Riley and wasn't even here for 90 days? Yup Quote Link to comment

74Hunter
Gerry's statement was clear that the team was finally going to "buy in"! Big miss. I posted Nates quote where, in plain simple English he states the buy in is regarding the "3 game season." Fact. People are entitled to their own opinions, not their own facts. If I wanted to do as others have done and twist his words to fit a narrative, I would have said, "Nate said that the team decided to buy in to the 3 game season since the coaching staff bungled the first 3/4 of the season due to their own ineptitude." At last my narrative would have been grounded in fact and likely more true than the narrative that the team just started to buy in to the coaches. The coaches have done a hell of a job 5 and 6, at a place where any idiot ( not my narrative) can easily win 9 games. Hip, hip, hooray. you hate for the coaching staff will have to be put in the closet. Please stop with the narratives. I've stated numerous times that I like Mike, but that doesn't mean anything. I'd like to win the powerball, but it doesn't mean it will happen. Just like I'd like for Riley to be a good coach, but it's not going to make him one. I have no hate for him or the staff, it's not personal. Unlike many people, I'm able to put my personal feelings aside and base my opinion solely on facts. There were plenty of reasons to despise 408, I have seen none with this staff and lots to look forward to. Other than their (Rileys) sub .500 career record and the clown show that we've seen in Lincoln for the majority of this season. Quote Link to comment
Branno
Part of what happened is we played Rutgers.another part of it is we played Michigan State. Yes, we are a .500 team that pulls an upset once in a while. Vintage Mike Riley. Exciting. Can you just go away already? If he bothers you that much just ignore him, but you dont have a right to tell others how to be a fan of the team. Hmmmm...wait a minute...are you telling him how to be a fan of the team? :-) I do agree, the ignore function is great, except that when someone quotes a person you've put on ignore...you still get to occasionally see their soggy cornflakes....such is life...Nope. Have a pointer on using ignore and called him on sh**ty behavior. Didn't say he couldn't be sh**ty, or that he's a bad fan, or that he should go to a different board where everyone is a sunshine pumper that wants to fellate Riley. Simply stated a fact. He doesn't have the right to question someone's fandom. Its a message board. Your right he can have a piss poor attitude if he wants, just like anyone has the right to question someone's fandom as you put it. You're. I'm not trying to police anything. I just guess I'm the only f'ing person that read the "keep topics on post" thread. Quote Link to comment
Guy Chamberlin
The team that almost beat Wisconsin looked a lot like the team that edged Michigan State. I don't think a light suddenly went off for this team. I think the breaks that had gone against Nebraska finally broke in their favor against MSU, and the Rutgers game merely resembled the Minnesota game. Don't tell the players I said that. I think they need to cultivate the sense of unity and "buying in" and making statements and not playing like p***ies. And I'm not freaked out about the coaching staff or its decisions this year. Looking forward to a lot of major players returning next year with more comfort and resolve. Quote Link to comment

Hilarious, so they have not bought in until the last 3 games but they will now and then see how it goes in the off season to see if they will buy in next year.. Got it! That is brilliant! I never would have thought it would go that way. HIP HIP HOORAY! Quote Link to comment

B1GRED
I like to think the team just wanted to prove that even in their worst season in 50 years they can still beat Iowa in their best season ever. +100 ROFLMAO Post of the year. Quote Link to comment
eightlaces
The talk of "buying in" is true. Much like any big organization where a lot of people are tight with the person who got booted, there's going to be harsh feelings, stubbornness, etc. Riley knew this was the case coming in. He's been around, he knows the drill. A big part of his program, maybe the biggest part, is respect. Respecting your teammates, your coaches and especially yourself. The players being human beings experienced a lot of different emotions, but most took to the changes well even with some skepticism. Keith Williams' innovative style of coaching that got his receivers jazzed was fresh and new, Cavanaugh's work with the line is very old school and it took some time for that to be understood. This wasn't John Garrison anymore. The close losses hurt, but that's obvious. You lose that closely that often and doubt creeps in, you start to feel the old feelings and say this isn't going to work out. Michigan State is an example of what happens when this program works together and it can happen again against Iowa along with whomever is drawn for the bowl. Some guys still don't buy in and they'll be escorted out this offseason. Be prepared for the purge. 3 Quote Link to comment
