BigRedBuster
Once again I wonder what the old Jan 1st could be . . . Rose: Stanford vs Mich St. Orange: Okla vs Clemson. Big8 champ gets the Orange Bowl and they invite the nearest and highest ranked free team. Cotton: UH vs Ole Miss. UH wins a theoretical SWC assuming their games played like Oklahoma's. There is no easy way to figure out the #2 teams but I think the Cotton favored southerners. Sugar: Bama vs ND. We pick the toughest opponent we can get and this is it. Fiesta. anOSU vs TCU. Strictly business decisions. TCU is a good grab as they are a day's drive away. Peach: Iowa vs FSU. I believe they had an ACC tie in at some point. This is the first year that I would say without hesitation that the old bowl system was better. This is because I had to fictionalize so much. For example it's basically fan fic to say that UH has the same record in the SWC if TCU/TTech/Baylor play as they do today. Still it might be about equal to what we will actually have. Ummm....no 1 Quote Link to comment

huKSer
Crazy - Not even a nibble from FS-1 or even FS-2? More money in downhill ice cross racing (what ever the hell that is). Creighton women's basketbal > CSU and Nevada football Hell, even TRU TV does 8 first round March Madness games. Quote Link to comment

The Duke
Well s#!t... I never thought I would see the day when Baylor...BAYLOR! would have a rushing record over Nebraska. I guess it's true...times do change. I thought that rushing record the 1995 team put up on Florida would last at least 30 or 40 years. Oh well. Baylor can have the record. We still have 5 of these... Creed
Not a Baylor fan (actually can't stand them) but pretty impressive with the win with all the back ups. Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
Anyone see the end of the Holiday Bowl? USC has 4th and 10, down by 2, around midfield, 12 seconds to go, and throws a 7 yard out at the sidelines. Had the guy caught it, no way he gets to the first down. Way worse than any Riley play call this year. I'm reading now it was supposed to be a hail Mary (maybe not the best call either since they just needed a FG and they had time for 2 more plays before trying a FG if they could make the first down) but the QB saw the quick out open (even though it really wasn't) and the receiver didn't run the route deep enough because he didn't know it was 4th down (way to have your head in the game, bro). Wiscy also got screwed on a TD run being called OB and the whistle stopping the play, so no replay, earlier in the 4th. I was dozing on and off for part of the game but what I saw, Wiscy pretty well dominated USC. Quote Link to comment

I remember a bowl game with Auburn vs Wisc and IIRC instant replay was new and they had SEC refs doing the instant replay. There were 2 or 3 plays in that bowl game that if reviewed would have gone in Wisc favor but the replay crew never buzzed down to review. Quote Link to comment

I was dozing on and off for part of the game but what I saw, Wiscy pretty well dominated USC. I thought if the coaches called one play and the QB chose to throw somewhere else then the coaches were totally exonerated. They had to either throw the ball into the end zone or to the sideline. They were out of options for a FG at that point because there were only seven seconds left. Even if they got a first down - stopping the clock momentarily - you can't spike the ball with 3 or fewer seconds left so they would have had no way to stop the clock to get the FG team on the field. The only way they could have gotten a FG was to throw the ball 15-20 yards downfield an on the sideline but that's all but impossible in that situation because that's what Wisconsin was guarding against. So they were down to just a couple not very good options at that point. But I agree that what they did do was stupid. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
A major development in the Alamo bowl landscape surfaced early Thursday morning. Multiple media outlets are reporting TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested in San Antonio. Reports indicate Boykin was involved in a bar fight with patrons and bar employees at Pat O Brien's. Following the incident in the bar, Boykin and his group were escorted out of the establishment. The fight continued on the street where police officers and bouncers attempted to break things up. The reports state Boykin struck several police officers on the scene before finally being subdued. 247 Quote Link to comment
