16 killed in Yemen

Recommended Posts

It's sad that extremists can control the agenda through heinous acts of terrorism like this. If things keep going like they have the past couple of years it's likely that there will be an all out war soon and many tens of thousands of people will die. And most of the people who are displaced or die won't give two sh#ts about ISIS or their beliefs.

Sometimes there are those situations in life where it makes you stop and think and realize so much that we sit around and talk about on these boards and in our normal lives are absolutely totally meaningless. Meanwhile, there are people just trying to make the world a better place and willingly putting themselves in harms way.

Unbelievable.

Genocide is a legal term and the United States is traditionally reluctant to invoke it (see http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/18/opinions/isis-committed-genocide-what-next/index.html) -- not that it has stopped the U.S. from, of course, actively and extensively engaging ISIS as it has been doing under existing pretexts.

That article does a good job of explaining why countries are especially careful around invoking the term genocide:

But if characterizing ISIS atrocities as genocide is perceived as an international legal foundation for military action against the terror group, there is real danger of creating an opening for states to proclaim the existence of genocide and then use that as a pretext for military intervention perhaps driven by other goals and interests. In an international system that expressly seeks to prevent the use of force, enabling such pretexts is highly problematic.

...and how deliberation doesn't reflect "callousness or indifference". We've been waging war on ISIS for quite some time. Those guys are awful.

War crimes, crimes against humanity, mass murder, torture, genocide, attrocities, etc. In the immortal words of Hillary Rodham Clinton, "What difference does it make?"

This administration is doing nothing about all of the above which are happening all over the world from Africa to the middle east, to Europe, Indonesia, Mexico, Chicago, Baltimore, etc. In fact, "the Obama Effect" has been to make these sorts of tradgedies more frequent, bigger and badder. Most reports say they mass exodus of 'refugees' or whatever other term you may prefer to describe the millions of people flooding out of the Muslim world and into Europe and even the USA has been prompted by the mayhem and disorder and civil turmoil created by Obama foreign 'policy' (I use that term cautiously when discussing Obama because it implies thoughts, planning and intent).

Radical Islam is at the heart of much of the violent extremism that is a lethal cancer on the societies of the Nations around the globe in which Islam dominates. Islam is not a religion as such although that is the commonly used term to describe it by the media, etc. Islam is a way of life and social order and governmental system combined with religious tenets and other 'teachings'. There is very little ethical or moral structure or values which would be considered common to the non Islamic cultures.

Mexico and many other western societies are being decimated by criminal and moral decay, a whole different form of social cancer but almost as destructive and dangerous as Islam. Mexico is being run by the most violent extreme drug and crime cartels in world history. The level of depravity and crimes against humanity are nearly as bad as the Islamic jihad mess above. Mexico's drug culture combined with the corruption and violent crime cartels have made life in that country almost unbearable. It is no wonder than mass migration from Latin America to the U.S. is rampant. We refuse to stop the flood of refugees (they are just as much refugees as those in Europe fleeing the Muslim radicals).

The number of dead (not counting the tortured, displaced, homeless, starving, etc.) as a result of spread of radical Islami in the last 40 years numbers in the multiple millions.
