Huskers vs. Purdue

I'm surprised Isaac Haas didn't play more. I don't remember Swanigan and Haas on the floor at the same time, that would have been a big task for our team. Jack came to play and Jeriah deserves to play 20 or more minutes the rest of the season, he is only going to get better. Would love to see Webster and Watson attack more but it's good we took the win today. Fantastic atmosphere at the game and a semi court storm with the students that slowly died shortly after it happened.

Haas and Swanigan were on the floor together. They killed NU when they both were on the floor as McVeigh was stuck trying to guard Swanigan alone. They high/lowed the crap out of McVeigh and Jake/Jordy. Didn't know Haas was battling an injury because it never really showed. If true, sucks for Painter because they probably hold on if both are in to close the game.

Yea but painter wasn't stupid and he took one of them out because McVeigh was getting wide open looks. I do not recall them being on the floor together for very long, maybe a span of five minutes total? Still great win for the guys and on to the next one.

I was looking on ESPN at the box score and it was funny that the Purdue fans were complaining about the difference in foul calls. The difference was actually them fouling us at the end of the game.

idk if they were complaining about the actual count, but a lot of them were pretty frustrated that the refs let us play so physical when double-teaming and trapping and seemed to think we got a lot of minimal contact fouls.

It really sucks not having Morrow for a time here this season. However, Jordy really is getting some good experience here and I'm starting to see some real improvement in his game. Last night he was going up against one of the biggest dudes he will all year and he held his own fairly well before fouling out.

Lol.. Jordy's offensive development has moved faster in three weeks than Michael Hammonds over the course of an entire season. Jordy might end up being a really good big guy.

The Purdue folks can get as frustrated as they want, but from my vantage point that physical play was allowed on both ends. Swanigan easily could have had 5+ fouls on him by the way he was bulling in for boards on both ends. Not to mention the amount of pivot foot switches/shuffles on he and Haas near the paint.

Heck of a win by the Skers, would be great to see them build on this one going forward!

Huge gut check win for this young team. Very proud of the effort by Jordy and Jacobsen. Shows a glimmer of what is possible with this team. Hopefully we can build on it with some consistency and beat the teams we are supposed to.

Tim Miles just poured a huge bucket of ice water on his "hot seat" which I was briefly thinking about after the Northwesten game. Nothing like getting your emotions jerked around by being a Husker basketball fan.

I wouldn't say a huge bucket. He may have thrown half a beer on it to knock down the flames a bit. If the season keeps going though like how it has been after this game....well.....it will still be pretty hot.

I would say that if his teams keep being as inconsistent as this one and teams in years past there will always be some warmth on his seat. I don't expect us to be at the top of the Big 10 every year but staying mid pack or better would be nice. Not losing to basement dwellers of the conference would be nice. Hopefully that 5 game losing streak was just a weird "glitch." Only time will tell I guess.
