knapplc
I mean, my god, that Americans are legit going to vote for this guy again shows that there is a huge portion of our country that is absolutely brainwashed. Link to comment
TGHusker
This whole bit of basically that the president is above the law while in office is totally contrary to our judicial system as envisioned by our founders. George Washington didn't want to be a king, but we make our president a king by this this type of judicial thinking. And it sets up someone like trump to continue to act badly. 2 Link to comment

knapplc
I mean, he said into a microphone during the campaign, "Russia if you're listening..." We knew what he was before these people voted for him. AT LEAST half of those who voted for him last time will do it again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 1 Link to comment
QMany
Curious, where are Ben Sasse, Deb Fischer, and/or Omaha World Herald reporters!?! 2 Link to comment
TGHusker
Trump may have handed the Dems the rope by which they will hang him on the gallows of impeachment. Poetic justice perhaps at play here. https://www.yahoo.com/news/impeachment-may-be-the-only-remedy-if-trump-ukraine-reports-are-true-house-intel-chair-181055583.html Quote Later, in Houston, Trump reportedly said about the conversation, “There was no pressure. No nothing. That was not pressure. I know when I give pressure and that was not pressure.” In defense of the White House’s refusal to release the contents of the call, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Sunday, “Conversations with foreign leaders are supposed to be confidential” and argued that releasing the details of Trump’s conversation with Ukraine would set a “terrible” precedent. But Schiff disagreed, saying that the details would not fall under executive privilege “if those conversations involve potential corruption or criminality or leverage being used for political advantage against our nation’s interest. “This would be, I think, the most profound violation of the presidential oath of office, certainly during this presidency, which says a lot, but perhaps during just about any presidency. There is no privilege that covers corruption. There is no privilege to engage in underhanded discussions,” he said. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has resisted calls from members of her party to begin impeachment proceedings against Trump, in a letter to colleagues Sunday warned that his administration “will be entering a grave new chapter of lawlessness which will take us into a whole new stage of investigation,” if the whistle-blower is blocked from Congress. “This violation is about our national security,” wrote Pelosi. “The Inspector General determined that the matter is ‘urgent’ and therefore we face an emergency that must be addressed immediately.” Schiff, who alongside Pelosi said he has been “very reluctant to go down the path of impeachment,” said impeachment “would be an extraordinary remedy — remedy of last resort, not first resort” if the complaint and transcript confirm Trump did “try and get dirt” for political advantage during a presidential campaign. “The president is pushing us down this road and if in particular — after having sought foreign assistance and welcomed foreign assistance in the last presidential campaign as a candidate, he is now doing the same thing again but now using the power of the presidency — then he may force us to go down this road,” Schiff said. He added: “I’ve spoken with a number of colleagues over the last week and this seems different in kind and we may very well have crossed the Rubicon here.” 1 Link to comment
BigRedBuster
Here's something that keeps going through my head on this. OK....Trump called a foreign leader and discussed various things including having them investigate the Bidens. An intelligence official who knew about the contents of the call files a whistle blower complaint. Hmmmm....wouldn't it need to be a pretty high up intelligence officer to be privy to this call? Supposedly it's supposed to be confidential. Or....does the intelligence community monitor ALL calls in and out of the WH and that's standard protocol? Link to comment
BigRedBuster
The guy actually knows he is nailed on this issue and has no way out. So, he's going all in and trying to make this a "national security" issue or a "prudent use of our money" issue. In reality, he's using government funds to bribe a foreign country to investigate a political rival. What a piece of s#!t. Problem is, 35-40% of America will love everything he has to say about it. 1 Link to comment

Maybe they have the WH phone bugged like the Trump Tower pre-election bugging. But you are right, it ain't a "nobody" to have this kind of access to the contents of the call. If the admin still stonewalls, then perhaps the officer has the guts to go public or at least testify to Congress behind closed doors. Link to comment
