  1. This. We have won 9 or 10 games and have gone to a Bowl Game every year under Bo Pelini. The future is bright.
  2. I miss Keith Jackson calling Husker games...or any college football game for that matter. He was simply the best in my opinion. Whoa Nelly!!!
  3. Ha ha. You're not the first person to tell me that. I put in a request to one of the Admins on the first day I joined for a user name change because I didn't realize that there was already an "EZ-E." So I told the Admin that I wanted to be fair to "EZ-E" and I was requesting a name change, but I have not heard back from him yet. If you have any suggestions on how I could speed up the process of changing my user name I am all ears. Thanks Dude! No problem, Duke. It was just odd that you started posting here with the EZE name the same day EZ-E stated that he was leaving this joint until after Halloween. Oh I didn't even know about that. Ha ha...that is pretty funny.

That's who I sent my private message to yesterday evening, and I have not heard back from him yet. I am sure he is pretty busy, so I will stay patient.
  5. I am on the fence on this one. I'll be the first to admit that I liked the way we gave out the Blackshirts under Osborne and Solich during Fall Camp, but I also see where Bo is coming from by not giving them out yet. He wants them to earn it, and let's be honest, have they really looked like "The Blackshirts" these past few weeks?

  7. While that would be totally amazing to have Urban Meyer calling plays for us, it will NEVER HAPPEN! The man has already proven himself as a successful offensive coordinator and head coach. He would never take a step down the ladder to ben an offensive coordinator for a team like Nebraska...or any team for that matter. His next job will only be as a head coach at a big time university....possibly Ohio State. I was talking about Ohio State, I'm an Ohio State fan. Whoops my bad. I can't even begin to imagine what a Nebraska vs Ohio State game would be like if Urban Meyer was the Buckeyes coach. Just seeing Pelini and Meyer on opposite sidelines would be crazy fun to watch! I apologize that I misunderstood your previous post.
  8. I think BTN is very professionally done, and it is a huge asset to both Nebraska and the rest of the conference.
  9. I agree zoogies. The amount of talent we have on offense, especially at the skill positions is crazy. We just have to find a way to get those guys more involved with the game plan. I think right now we are relying too much on Taylor to win games for us, where instead we just need for him to manage the game. Maybe I am wrong here on this, and if I am feel free to let me know, you won't hurt my feelings, but this year reminds me of a complete reversal from when we had Eric Crouch. When Crouch played for Nebraska it seemed he was our entire offense because we lacked high caliber players at the other skill positions. Whereas this year we have talent across the board. We just need to find a better way to get players like Jamal Turner, Rex Burkhead, Kenny Bell, Kyler Reed, etc more involved, and make the defenses have to worry about a number of different threats....and not just Taylor.
  10. It really is quite amazing when you think about it...one of everyone's biggest concerns at the start of the year and even through the first two games was the offensive line. Everybody was harping on Coach Cotton, and saying how he couldn't coach, but now look at where we are today. I commend Barney and Coach Garrison, they have done an excellent job so far with the O-Line this year...especially once they started those rotations during the Washington game. I agree with you huskerjack23, let's put this team on the backs of the O-Line and running backs and start imposing our will on the opposing defenses. I truly believe one of the areas where this team has made the biggest improvement from last year is our offensive line.
  11. You have one heck of a team this year MadisonBadger! And we Husker fans look forward to welcoming you all to Lincoln next season.

  13. I know every team and every head coach in the country does this differently. Some name captains for the entire year, while others like Bo tend to allow different team captains throughout the year. My question for all of you Husker fans is this, out of the two choices listed above, which do you think would have a more positive effect for the Nebraska Cornhuskers?
  14. I like our chances in this game. Ohio State is average at best this year. They have a lot of talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball, but I think all of the distractions during the offseason are having an effect on this team as the season progresses. As for Nebraska, I believe Tim Beck will get back to calling a heavier dose of running plays to take the pressure off of Taylor. Our defense will play angry after Saturday night's performance. Now that doesn't mean everything will be fixed on that side of the ball, but I do believe we will see a Husker team playing with a little more attitude.
  15. Carnes is still the backup. Tim Beck was asked after the game if he had given any thought to pulling Martinez from the starting job, and he replied "Nope. None." With that being said give Beck credit, he did say to put the blame on him for calling way too many passes. He said, "I did some boneheaded things, obviously. We're not a drop back and throw the ball every down team. That's not who we are. We did that for a little bit, and that's on me." I don't think you would have ever heard Sean Watson make such an admission. On the defense Bo knows that they have a serious problem that needs to be addressed quickly. When your defensive line gets no pressure and has a hard time stopping the run, and when your secondary is letting wide-receivers run open down field it is not a great situation. Bo said, "it's more defensively than offensively. We have to fix us first."
  16. Exactly...Bo & Beck must decide what our offensive identity is going to be starting now and going forward. I don't mind having Taylor dropping back and throwing every now and then to keep the defense honest, but to call 12-15 some straight passing plays was just ridiculous in my opinion.
  17. Well said bbhusker! It's funny that you should mention "accountability" and "leadership." I discussed the same thing in my post earlier "Leadership, Accountability, & Toughness." http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/54851-leadership-accountability-toughness/
  18. Welcome to the board strider77! I just joined this weekend too. What Taylor brings to this football team is just pure God given speed. Granted, he doesn't have the same lateral speed like Tommie Frazier or Eric Crouch, but when he gets going North & South there is not too many other QB's or overall college football players for that matter with his kind of speed. He is already a feared runner by defenses. Now if he can just improve his throwing mechanics, than he could develop into a true dual-threat quarterback.
  19. Thanks zoogies! Glad to be here. I should have joined a long...long time ago. I am just glad to be a part of the conversation with other Husker fans.
  20. No. That is not the character of this staff. Players have said numerous times over the past few years that the reason many of them have come to Nebraska was because nobody on the staff made any promises to them, they had to earn it. Bo has said many times that things are "black & white" with him. The best 11 that put in the work during practice on each side of the ball are the ones who play.
  21. Sorry zoogies. Don't worry I didn't realize when I joined that there was already an "EZ-E." I have already put in a request to one of the Admins for a name change to be fair to "EZ-E" beings he had the name first.
  22. I completely agree. They need to realize that Taylor's strength is not his passing, but his ability to run. I agree with you, if they would have kept to what they were doing in the first quarter it would have been a much closer game. We might still have lost, but at least it wouldn't have turned into a blowout.
  23. Yes, but it is going to take time. We are closer now than we were in 2007. Always keep in perspective where we were during those Callahan years to where we are now. We have won 9 or 10 games each of the last four years, and have been to a bowl game each of those four years. Pelini had a lot to fix when he got here. I think he prolonged that fix by keeping Watson on the staff, but now that Beck is calling the plays we are making progress in the right direction. The power running game is slowly coming back, and the defense will get fixed. I think asking for Top 5 consistently might be a stretch, but Top 10 consistently is certainly an attainable goal.
  24. That's not a half bad idea. I don't know if those in the athletic office would go for it, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to propose it to them. Just have the students switch to where the visiting team's fans sits now. The only problem with this is where do you put the band? I think you have to keep the band and the students next to each other to really get the crowd going.
  25. I did say last night to the others watching the game with me, "I hope to God that Wisconsin changes something about their uniforms next year." They are a complete copy of ours, and I know this has been discussed already on this board. Who knows maybe Nebraska will change our uniforms a little bit next year? Maybe we will do away with the stripes. Example:
