  1. Yes, but in an effort to suprise the other defense we will throw even more.
  2. If Armstrong is out & we are going to throw the ball 50 times, I would sure like to see what Zack Darlington and to a lessor extent AJ Bush could do.
  3. IF we don't make a bowl this year, and even if we win 6-7 games next year, i'd be fine with moving on. Honestly, I don't see the issue with just accepting the bad decision and moving on now because we all know we will be moving on in a year or two from now and will just have to begin the rebuilding process AGAIN. So why not accept the mistake, admit this as a lost season and start rebuilding now. SE can simply come out and say, "Look folks, I made a mistake, I apologize, but I am not going to allow Nebraska football to be Purdue" It's like any scandal, you always look so much better in the media if you just come out and admit it first rather then deny deny deny. I'd have so much more respect for the guy if he did come out and admit his mistake and take action, rather then trying to hide this awful wart for 2-3 years and the agree it was a mistake. The longer we have this, the deeper we dig our hole. I believe Southern Miss did this a couple years ago with the coach that led them to 0-12. Only thing we can pray for is that USC makes Riley an offer he can't refuse and he takes it. What has happened here has been an absolute train wreck so far. USC is NOT going to offer Riley. Who in their right mind would hire Riley after the debacle he's created here, and they way he was on the verge of getting run out of Oregon State....USC offered Riley a HC job almost 20 years ago, they realize Riley is now approaching mid 60s and well past his prime. Plus his overall coaching record is 2 games below .500.....................And if Southern Miss did this, I have already forgotten they did such a thing. Also, I can't think of any other job where you can consistently under perform for 8 weeks and not get talked to or get the risk of losing your job. Man, if I went to work for 8 straight weeks of just under performing I am sure I would have been talked to several times by management, and probably would have never seen week 8. Especially your first job with the company..... Add in a seven figure salary.
  4. They should get one more year, but they should be on a tight leash. Lots of injuries & a change in scheme is tough on a defense, even tougher when you look at the lack of depth they had to start with.
  5. Why won't it work at Nebraska? Is our field shaped different than other fields in the Big 10? Is our turf specifically designed for a running game? To run a successful offense you have to have proper coaching and talent. Osborne was successful because he was a great coach and developed players to run his system. Not every coach can duplicate that. When we hired Riley, we knew what kind of system he wanted to run. It's going to take time to implement. Actually if you look back or grew up watching Osborne over his entire career, you would see he changed his scheme. His offense in the 80's was much different then the 90's.
  6. Tom Herman or Scott Frost & a DC that will bring pressure when the other team is in FG range & could be knocked out of it or lose the game with a sack.
  7. doesnt he also do "more with less?" Yes, but why not Paul Johnson.
  8. With all the injuries & the rough start it will at least give some much need hope for the future.
  9. Just post your SSN, Bank Acct # & Bank Routing # & someone will help you out with that.
  10. I would think that you will have to go through the game logs for each game to get the run-pass ratio on 1st down calls. Chatelain said that for Illinois, NU called 11 first down passes. I can't remember how many times he said NU ran the ball. 11 times not enough!
  11. I hate the "No proven coach would take the job" line. It is not true at all. The problem is the University is not willing to pay what it takes to get a proven head coach. It took $5.7M to get Harbaugh to Michigan. That is $3M less then NU paid for Riley. Pelini, 7 years into his contract was only getting $3.1M. If you want a big name coach you have to pay big boy money.
  12. Still more trophies than the current coach has won at this level. If the previous 7 years are a failure, can't wait to see how this year gets excused. Or, and I'm just spitballing here, you could root for our team to be successful in this, the first year of our new coach. We are all rooting for the team to be successful. However it's upsetting seeing a coaching staff with supposedly unmatched coaching experience completely lose a game on their own. I could understand the BYU loss, I could understand the Miami loss but that Illinois loss is completely inexcusable. The coaches went out of their way to make that game as difficult as possible to win, good coaches don't do that and we deserve better. This I agree with. The Illinois loss falls directly on Riley & Co. At the same time Riley & Co deserve a chance to bring in their guys & see how things shake out, but my guess is games like this will tighten up his leash a little. Just think it could be worse. We could be Texas.
  13. His previous track record at much lower tier schools shouldn't be used heavily against him, imho. Saban was an ass hair over .500 at Michigan St. before bailing for LSU. Not saying they're the same guy, obviously. But, a lot of very successful coaches at major division one programs weren't exactly stellar at their other head coaching jobs. Why shouldn't it? What other reasons was he hired? Because he's a nice guy? His previous record is his resume. If you were trying to get hired by a company, and your resume was "eh", would you expect to get hired? So if I took a company that was always losing money & turned them into a company that broke even, then yes.
  14. How about Joe Moglia Year Team Overall Conference Standing Bowl/playoffs Coaches# TSN° Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (Big South Conference) (2012–present) 2012 Coastal Carolina 8–5 5–1 T–1st L FCS Second Round 24 24 2013 Coastal Carolina 12–3 4–1 T–1st L FCS Quarterfinal 7 7 2014 Coastal Carolina 12–2 4–1 T–1st L FCS Quarterfinal 5 5 2015 Coastal Carolina 4–0 0–0 Coastal Carolina: 36–10 13–3 Total: 36–10
  15. Wonder where they had Gene Chizik ranked after one year at Auburn?
  16. I think that the screen game will improve with DPE coming back. I think it will also open up more of the running game.
  17. If that is true, can we all agree that the season was not good? Hmmm, that is an interesting question. I know some fans are saying that they don't care what happens this season with wins/losses but we all know that is not true. I gotta think that no bowl game would = a really craptastic season, right? Riley & staff need to make a bowl game or I would think they would start next year pretty high on the hotseat list.
  18. It's both. Banker doesn't have the players he wants to run his scheme & he also will not adjust his scheme to help out the DB's. Everyone noticed a difference when Davie went out of the Miami game. You have to be a little patient. If things look the same next year, then its time to hit the panic botton. This may also shed some light into why Banker was going so heavy on DB's. Maybe he new he had the wrong type of player for his scheme.
  19. I'm sure they were impressed. It must be a big difference over the empty seats they are use to looking at.
  20. How would you feel if NU finished this way. Illinois - W 38-27 Wisconsin - L 31-28 Minnesota - W 42-36 Northwestern - L 27-24 Purdue - W 41-27 Michigan St L 42-38 Rutgers - W 38-24 Iowa - W 31-28 Finishing 5-3 overall 7-5. No blowouts with lots of tough losses? Edit - When I posted the scores it was to show close games not to show how many points teams scored on us. I should have been more clear & just said 4 point win or something to that nature.
  21. If Wilbon cannot block then he is a liablity & I understand why he is not playing. This should be pretty understandable. For those who are saying just put him in for a run play. What happens if Armstrong needs to audible to a pass? My guess would be pass protection is keeping him out of the game & his abilty to catch is a secondary reason.
