  1. What FSU's beat down will do is have the committee look at SOS more carefully. Being undefeated in a high school conference shouldn't mean as much as it did. But this is the begining of changing that mindset. At some point in time, if it stays at four teams (which it won't) then an undefeated team with a weak SOS, won't be a shoe in anymore. With the expansion, all it will do is give them a lower seed instead of missing the playoffs altogether. What are you talking about, FSU's schedule was as good as anybody's They played Notre Dame, OK State, and Florida OOC, and then beat Georgia Tech, Clemson, Louisville, and Miami in conference. The ACC was as good of conference as any of the other Power 5.
  2. Armstrong looks like he's right on the edge of making a big step forward. How many passes have been just a hair long. He's also throwing away more passes when nothing is there. With a few small adjustments he could have a good 2nd half of the season.
  3. I was considering this yesterday when I saw a job open up where I use to work. Financially and career wise its not a good move, but it fits more in line with what I enjoy.
  4. The use of out of state tuition rates for these comparisons is crap. If a graduate student is recruited to a university and made an employee they never pay out of state tuition. The model for this is already out there with graduate students. Make them part-time employees and give them a stipend (20K). Now they will have to pay tuition and fees, but it will be at in-state rates, and largely reduced. Technically they will pay taxes, but will get most back with deductions. They can take care of housing themselves or live in university housing for a reasonable rate.
  5. I'd give ya the thumbs up emoticon if I could do that on my phone. You're right, anything that helps at all is better than nothing. It will take a number of steps to have a noticeable impact on the economy. The USPS just hasn't been real high on my list lately. Have experienced numerous cases of lost or delayed mail. I sorta figured if they struggle with their core business, they probably don't need to branch into other areas. USPS handles rouhgly 430 million pieces of mail every day. When you handle that much mail sh#t happens. I've had bad experiences from USPS, UPS, and Fedex. No package/mail service is perfect. I would say the do a pretty good job.
  6. 1. Destruction of the environment. 2. Destruction of the environment. 3. Destruction of the environment. This will be callous but the problems already listed primarily affect only humans. The destruction of the environment also affects the other millions of species on earth. It only took 100 years to destroy a natural experiment that had been running for millions of years.
  7. Why not just run the whole system off a deep cycle battery or two. Less work than messing with your car.
  8. Pelini hasn't shown he can run an effective defense that doesn't have top level NFL talent. LSU, Oklahoma, and here all his top defenses had multiple first round talent. Pelini so far has shown he's an average defensive coach, that only excels with top talent. This year will be a test as how good of a d-coach he is.
  9. Saban is a top level recruiter and coach. That is the difference between him and so many others. It's what made Carrol successful and what has made Saban successful. He does get top recruits, but he also identifies guys that fit his program. Rarely does his teams beat themselves, and they are alway prepared. If he stays around for a while his true test will be whether he can bring in new coaches to replaces those that move one. Thats what has doomed Stoops at Oklahoma.
  10. I'm guessing Frazier wouldn't put up with the defensive effort we saw this year. In today's game Frazier has a much better completion percentage. From coaching to the rules the passing game has made monstrous jumps since then. Frazier was a true leader that we haven't seen since.
  11. Martinez may be able to crack the top 10, but to many other QB's have won multiple conference championships and bowl games for him to jump them without those stats. He's got to win a conference championship otherwise he's just a footnote.
  12. As a whole UNL is a billion dollar operation. Perlman has done an excellent job as chancellor. In no way should athletics have any impact on Perlmans job status. The university is bigger than Osborne and the athletic department.
  13. I figured the answer was going to be testicular fortitude. I'm not sure how a fiery coach can have such a soft defense. The off the field record is good for this team, but we need players with edge as Notre Dames radio guy puts it. Who really scares you on this team.
  14. There's only one simple way to fix all of this. Have 8 conferences, all with a CCG. Then do a 8 team playoff starting the week after the CCG with the conference champions. Play the round of 4 in the bowl games and play the title game 2 weeks later. That would emphasize the regular season and keep the bowl games. I'm not totally onboard with the new playoff, but I can see it working. What I don't want though is to have the season drag on forever. Any involved playoff bowl games should be done by New Years day with the title game no more than 14 days later.
  15. They won't lose the game for you, but they also won't win the game for you.
  16. Yards are not a comparable stat to evaluate how balanced a team is. Total yard are a worthless stat. Looking at rushing attempts and passing attempts, Michigan state has rushed 258 times and thrown it 226 times. Nebraska has rushed 332 times and thrown it 155 times. Now look at that and figure out who is more balanced.
  17. I really like their projections for the BCS games. Almost everyone would be interesting.
  18. Saban Miles Stoops Saban has turned around two traditional SEC powers and has titles with both. Miles has been able to keep LSU in the top 10 despite a revolving door of assistants. Like it or not, but Stoops has achieved a level consistency on par with Osborne. He wins a conference title every other year and appears in titles games regularly.
