I was pleased to see very decent play from our two backup quarterbacks. I'm hoping McCaffrey is evidence of the young guys we've recruited that aren't yet playing. We need better talent...and better coaching. Both.

I know that Indiana "didn't prepare for McCaffrey", but he looks good. Not sure who should start when everyone is healthy, but sure is nice to see a competent backup.

I've gotten beyond having the Husker Football team success or lack of success determine my mood and attitude. I get riled up during games still, of course. But at the end of the game (or earlier if it's going badly), I'm off to the garage to tinker or such. I guess you could just say I'm happy. If there is any way to provide hope. I do remember, albeit vaguely, when Husker fans we thrilled with a winning season (Pre-Devaney success). We'd been good, then we sucked for air. But we did become good again. The right guy is here. The program is in shambles. I think we knew it was in bad shape, but not perhaps how bad it was. And I know I had sky high expectations for Frost. He's what, in his 4th year as a head coach. 2nd Year in a real conference. He has more learning and maturing to do than I was expecting. But that is on me, not him. I'm still 95% convinced that if he can't turn it around, it will take the re-incarnation of Devaney to make it happen. Meanwhile, back to my hoping for a winning season and a bowl game. It sucks, but that's my team, so there we are.

Nope, at the time of my post, we were 8-4 in the previous 12 games, as I clearly said. That was not a prediction, it was a look back. But reading is such a hassle, I know. Sadly, to your point though. I'm hoping we actually get to 6-6 this year, and a bowl game. In serious doubt right now.

I'd say 5, but will become an 8. TO himself said he was a much better coach in his 15th year than he was in his 5th. We knew Scott inherited a flaming heap of trash program, from top to bottom. Speaking for myself, I didn't stop to realize that Scott still needed to grow and adjust as well. I think he'll get it right, but it will take another 2-3 years, both for his development and for the rebuilding of the program.

Truth. Darlington and Tenopir and McBride were "screw up once I'll tell you about it directly, screw up twice and you'll be watching from the sidelines " kind of coaches.

We will win 6 games and play in a bowl. Next year will be 7 wins probably, with better showing in the losses. Frost will replace at least one coach and encourage several players to move along early. 2021 we will win the West.
