  1. It sounds like he is having a great senior season. Best of luck to him.
  2. Both the O and the D stepped up in the second half. Our D was put in some big holes in the first half though. Congrats to the guys for not loosing heart and playing like Huskers.
  3. Who is the guy sitting in boxer shorts and laughing on the car?
  4. I fail to understand the idea of "playing for revenge". Revenge is something Arabs and college football fans obsess about. About the time a football team begins to play with revenge in mind instead of focusing on improving their skills, is the time they get whipped again and loose confidence the rest of the year. I hope last years game is forgotten and our players execute the game plan.
  5. I'm sure Dobson's assistants all have been told what each players profile is and what the coaches what that player to be. No doubt the player knows what is expected and has signed off on the training regimen. Each position would have it's own group of exercises, lifts and conditioning and each player probably gets their own routine depending on where they need to improve.
  6. I can listen to this with a smile on my face.....and I'm not a hip hop kind of guy.
  7. The rules say there can only be one basketball on the floor at one time. The kid finds many ways to score thats for sure.
  8. To me Paul Meyers has the local connections that will make his job easier and make for a smoother transition. I have met Trav Alberts and know him to be a good guy. The way the transition at UNO was handled leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe (probably) it was handled as well as possible and Trev's hands were tied. Rimmington I don't think has lived in the state for 20 years or more. Jamie W may have lots of potential but he is relatively new at his position and still green.
  9. He and his family are originally from Maine if my memory is correct. They only moved to Texas a few years ago to improve the abilities of their son for football. With no real ties to Texas it was an easy decision for them to move to Lincoln when his mother got a good job in Omaha.
  10. In watching the replay several times, it appears to me that the ref on the field side and the ref from the endzone both looked at each other and when the field ref saw the other ref raise his arms, he thought he was going to signal touchdown and did so himself. Unfortunately the endzone ref waved his arms to stop the clock which signals an interception or change of possession. The proper thing to do was to have a conference to see what they each thought happened and when. Then the head ref should have made a decision. I'm not sure if they could have chosen to not make a decision and let the booth make the final call?
  11. While I would never condone the torture of animals in any way, I refuse to put animals on the same level as humans. What Vick did was most assuredly wrong. The court sentenced him and he served his time. Since his release he appears to be a changed man and willing to blend into society. We can't ask for more than that.
  12. Looking at the stats from the ISU game I see 3 TE's each caught one pass. Reed, Cotton and Long plus 6 other receivers each caught one pass and C Osbourne caught 3 passes. Here's hoping Beck and the guys put together a good game plan for Whisky and showcase what this offense can do.
  13. My wife is from southern Mo and the first Thanksgiving we were married we were at the in laws house. A good number of family were present and when the Okla-Nebr game came on I made sure the tv was on the right channel. My in laws commented to my wife later that weekend that my personality changed when the game came on.
  14. That flag was thrown in anticipation of a much harder hit than it was. The contact looked to be only shoulder and hand....and not to the receivers head.
  15. Did it mention which teams they were against? Now it's 3 this season with Rex's run in the first qtr.
  16. A summer cold woke me up at 2:00. Watched most of the game on replay. I really think the Santa Marg. team could be competitive with most of the NAIA colleges in Nebraska. Very well coached in the fundamentals and very mature for 17 and 18 year olds. J Stanton is definately the field general. A bonus was listening to Harry Cary Sr doing the play by play!
  17. The amount of money the governments receive isn't the main problem. It's the amount they spend. Individuals, cities, counties, states, and feds all expect too much.
  18. i wish there were still -1 rep. pts. do you know why the israelis and palestinians fight? when it started? if you want to end terrorism, a first good step would be to avoid a foreign policy based on terrorism. It started about 3000 years ago. Fighting was put on hold for a few centuries and started up again after WW2 when a place was carved out for Israel. Like I said in the first sentence....this is not the best solution. However it may be the only way to put an end to it. Making our problem their problem. We wouldn't need to occupy anything. Just tell them....if "X" happens...."Y" will be the result.
  19. A solution.... but not saying it's the best one. To each Middle East country that we have had any trouble with in the past or present, we deliver a statement saying that any violence toward the United States, either on our soil or our embassies will bring hell on your country. We will start at the borders and bomb our way to the middle till nothing is alive. Since it can't be nuclear, then the environment should be habitable shortly after. Voila...you have a place for the Palestinians. We will assume all mineral rights for 20 years and pay the Palestinians a percentage. No more skirmishes with Israel. If those countries want to be assured that nothing they do pisses us off then they will clean up their own act and get serious about stopping terrorism or they can all go to "heaven" together. If we find the Saudi's are funding terrorism somewhere then they "don't pass go and collect $200" while they watch their tents go up in smoke. This may be heavy handed but I think it's time they got their act together and joined the 21st century.
  20. To be fair I have tried to return the conversation back to the middle east and our embassies. just saying. guy, this is the big red lounge. the only rules are the board rules. other than that, we keep it also, anyone can bring up anything regarding the attacks. do not see what good it does to come in here and complain how no one is talking about what you want them to be talking about when you are not participating. As much as I would have enjoyed participating, when I get the chance to have kids and grandkids come for a 3 day weekend, I'll always pick the grandkids.
  21. I see the pissing match is still on. I'm not sure why you two can't just have a duel and put yourselves out of my misery. This thread was intended to focus on events in the Middle east and the ransacking of our embassies. Yet you two just rag each other like a pair of junior high girls arguing over the new kid in town.
  22. in the Devaney Era most teams were ground and pound with the occasional pass. Oklahoma had a few high scoring offenses. TO's offense eventually evolved into a ground game that ate up time and kept the ball away from opposing offenses. The thing that makes the Suh year defense stats even more remarkable is the fact we had a poor offense that often was 3 and out. I would be interested in seeing if college teams are scoring at a much higher rate than they did in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
  23. I'm already happy this young man is in Lincoln. My hope is that he continues to work hard and becomes a force for the basketball team.
  24. If tradition holds we will win one game we shouldn't and lose one game we shouldn't. If we can avoid that one bad loss (maybe UCLA is our bad loss) and win two on the road vs OSU and MSU then we'll be in good shape. Watch out for NW since the game is there and they usually sneak up on a few teams. Just take care of business week to week and live your destiny guys.
