  1. Has got to be better than last year........... I am worried about safety and LB as well. A lot of potential on the line and the LB's, but as someone once said, Potential means you haven't done anything yet. Juco's would be a great help. IF they could contribute immediately.
  2. I agree. Spencer is the exception and not the rule. With that in mind, no top tier program has 3 walk-ons starting and one of them was a converted center. Bama, UGA, Domers, Oregon, KSU?............. No, I am sure these guys starters are not walk-ons. I would guess that they do not have converted DL who are starters. I could be wrong in this. Look no further than the "glut" of OL on schollie and look at the walk-on starters to realize we have issues. We now have 3 guys coaching center, tackle and guard. Really? And folks think we have seen marked improvement. Stats don't tell everything. IMO, we have some serious OL issues.
  3. Right thing to do. Good on NU for continually doing the right thing when so many others do it wrong.
  4. If we want to be an elite program, you need to pay like one. If we do not pay Joseph to stay, that will speak volumes about this program IMO. None of it good.
  5. Cook has always been using us until he got the Bama offer that he's always wanted. It wasn't a shock to anyone who follows recruiting. Courtney Love is as solid as can be, he said that he was reconsidering for maybe a good 5 hours. I do not follow it that closely. By your comment, it appears the staff doesn't either. Offer a kid that everyone knows is using it to get the Bama offer and we still did? Kind of stupid on our part. They kept his scholarship just in case he never got the offer. Because if he didn't he was coming here. It didn't affect our situation with other corner backs such as Dashon Hunt and Priest Willis. So, it was neither smart or stupid by that staff. If you don't follow it then stop making assumptions. My comment about stupidity on our part was aimed at offering a kid who "was using our offer to leverage Bama". This wasn't a shock to anyone who follows recruiting. Again, if this was "common" knowledge by the internet recruiting gurus, I would assume this was common knowledge of our staff as well. Again, IMO, stupid to offer a kid that everyone knew was using us to get a Bama offer. Or to offer a kid who has no real intention of wanting to play here. And if thinks hadn't worked out at Bama, you know he was coming here how exactly? Have you spoken with him directly during the recruiting process? If not, I guess that would just be an assumption on your part. I mean he said he was coming here and all........Must be a fact. Like Gabbert, Freeman, etc...............

  7. If we are planning to move any coach to get another one, please hire one with a significant amount of experience. This training ground stuff has got to stop. Also saw that 2 recruits, Cook (switched to Bama) and Love (now reconsidering) since Marrow left. With Cotton coaching while Bo is on the road, no one on this staff is going anywhere. Sad when one of our better "coaches" and "recruiters" is a GA. Kind of like 3 walk-ons starting over the 20 schollie OL kids........................
  8. No moral victories. I threw those out with Cally. We win or we lose. Losing sucks. I do not care if by one point or 40. We lost. NU of old would have never said I hope we can keep it close (team or fans). If that is the mentality of the team and staff ie let's keep it close, then the whole staff needs to go. Same with the kids on the team. You want to "keep it close" stay ay home and watch on tv. This "loser"mentality by fans also sucks. Win. Don't lose. I will be mad as he## at a loss.
  9. IIRC, there was a recent study done showing recruit classes from 2000-2010 as it relates to the number of back-to-back classes with more than 28 recruits. The SEC had 54. The Big 10 had 18. So yea, folks who say it doesn't help to over recruit are crazy. It is easy to get great recruit classes when you are over signing by 8-10 kids and then pull for lack of performing. Look at NU this year. 20+ OL schollies and we started 3 walk-ons. The SEC, those 20+ would probably now be about 8-10. Those freed up would be used for others. same with our DL. IIRC we have 11 DT's on schollie, but we had to move Cam to there against Wisky as we had no one else. Again, in the SEC, half these guys would be gone. SEC plays by a different set of rules and it shows. If we recruited (over signed) by 8-10 guys a class, we could build depth as guys who don;t pan out are canned and other guys are kept. I do not agree with this. I think once offered, they stay on schollie until the leave, quit or are let go (kicked off). Until something is truly done, the "supremacy" (ie cheating) of the SEC will remain.
  10. Move him where he can at least play. Another guy we heard great things about, but for whatever reason didn't pan out as expected. At least being bigger he might be harder to move than Cam at DT.
  11. According to other boards is the primary recruiter for 5 current commits. Also said 1-2 will go elsewhere if he leaves. Obviously to keep him someone needs to go. I think we are already at capacity with paid coaches.
  12. We are overlooked and not considered a threat to the mighty SEC. It is a road game. UGA lost a chance at the MNC, we got embarrassed on national TV again. I think we have something to prove. I like our chances. We have shown the ability to comeback from behind, we have not shown the ability to come back from the "punch in the gut" type plays ie Miler's first TD against OSU, Wiskys first TD against us in the CCG, the Hail Mary TD against USC last year. If we can avoid those type momentum shifting TD's we stand a chance.
  13. Rumors aside. With all the speculation (fans) about the possible (wishful?) coaching changes at NU it would be good to solidify some things now. Either announce who is going or staying so that our recruits can make a decision. IMO, the staff staying together (not my personal choice) is better for recruiting rumors continuing to fly about so and so leaving the program. Rumor control, IMO, is an area that Bo is sorely lacking when it comes to keeping fans informed. Do I think he "owes" that to us, no. He can do what he wants. Do I think it would go a long way to making folks see him in a more favorable light? Absolutely. Easier to support and cheer for a guy you feel you "know" and that wants our support. I could see other schools saying, "well you know Coach X recruited you and you like him, but with all the changes coming, he might not even be there."
  14. Looking at those numbers, I see one GLARING stat not shown. It is this: SUH Crick Prince Haag Gomes David Dennard Looking at the 2009 and 2010 stats and then the D talent that we lost says a lot. I bag on this staffs schemes, but looking at the stats, so long as we have 1st round NFL talent it works pretty well. My issue is that the staff doesn't change to account for talent or in our case lack of. Even in 2011 with David, not having any real talent at the DL really hurt us as did missing Fonzie for like 90% of the year. IMO, the scheme does work, but you need some serious talent, at all 3 levels to make it work very well. As the talent level and depth (DL, LB and Secondary) drop off, so do our statistics. More alarming is the Offenses we faced in the Big XII, 2009 and 2010 were much more high scoring than what we have faced in the B1G. It does show a trend though. A negative one IMO unless we get some serious talent at all 3 levels.
  15. That is some straight up Greg Brady photography right there. Nice still for sure.
  16. I have a list of teams I loath. SC and Clemson are not on that list. I enjoy talking football with other fans. I do not believe in the whole "internet tough guy" so I feel no reason to be an a$$ on an anonymous BB. Humor is banned thank you "Internet tough guy" glad we have you to set the rules and monitor our terrible posts! You read it wrong. My apologies. If folks want to banter back and forth have at it. What you and others want to do is up to you. It is an internet board. Enjoy it. I just try not to get dragged into the BS that sometimes gets started. That's just me. Not saying you are an internet tough guy nor accusing you. Just explaining my reason for being hospitable to a fan from another board.
  17. Exactly this. Heisman=Hypesman. A joke. Would still love to have a Husker win one, but has nothing to do with the best player. I think that other LB's did a better overall job that Te'o without the INT's. I almost think it was a SUH redo, trying to right a wrong as it were IMO. Great player, but the best this year. IMO, no.
  18. What board do y'all post on so that we can head over and see what folks are saying?

  20. If Alshon didn't have that TD to end the 1st half, it would have been different, I agree. That 1 play seemed to suck the air out of 1/2 the stadium. Then our defense just went all out the 2nd half. Marcus had his surgery, everything went well and he's currently rehabbing the injury. While there has been no official report citing the extent of damage and the specific ligaments/tendons torn, we all could see from the replay that it's a nasty injury. The latest "word" came from an article by Phil Kornblut in his interview with RB recruit David Williams. Williams told Phil that the USC coaches didn't think Marcus was coming back next season (which would make since since his injury happened later in this past season.) Marcus told Gamecock Nation on Youtube that he would be back to play at USC. So there are mixed messages, and we might not know until IF his draft paperwork is turned in. I could see him trying to enter the draft this year and getting paid to rehab on a pro roster, but his pick/earning potential will take a hit. Honestly I think he'd be lucky to be picked up in the 3rd or earlier rounds. He very well might still take a full season to rehab and come into the 2014 draft or USC season. Good news about Marcus. I call SC home and wife is a Clempson grad (spell it like it sounds!) so I enjoy watching USC and Clemson as well. In-Laws and my family are all USC fans. Been to a few games there at Williams Bryce. I like Cola. Nice place.
  21. Martinez has become a much "tougher" runner this year than last. He has scrambled some, but most, IMO have been from either designed QB runs or read type options. We have no real back up QB. If we did, the staff would turn him loose to run and rain fire upon opposing D's. As it is, the staff, again IMO, really limits him in the run capacity. If he goes down in the bowl game, I would expect Rex to move under center and finish the game in the "Rexcat". Yes we are that thin at QB. Murray need not worry about our rush. Caveman is our best, but we seldom blitz. Maybe this game we do. Statistically not as much as I would like. Then again, we have almost a full month to figure something out. Your DL is good, BUT the B1G has some monster DL's as well (perhaps not as "talented") still big. This game will be won in the trenches. Advantage UGA. Our "burner" back Braylon Heard is a good one. Unfortunately under utilized. Maybe this game the staff turns him loose. Abdullah is a solid blue collar work horse. "Smaller" , but plays very big. NOt afraid to run between the tackles. Strong as well. Rex is a different animal. Hard to get a solid shot on him. Runs angry and downhill. IMO, because of his character, work ethic and abilities, one of the best in the nation at what he does. This year hurt us with his injury. Has a knack of getting positive yrds after contact. Has the ability to always seem to "fall forward". Cross, 225+ lbs is a bruiser. True Fresh with tons of potential. Again under used. Where y'all (and a lot of SEC teams) use true Fresh we seldom do. Our WR's and TE's are solid across the board. All capable of catching in traffic and stretching the field. Reed (our TE) is a WR in a TE body. Had hopes of us using him like Hernandez at New England, but that never happened. One thing I will say is that our WR's are probably the best in the nation. Hands down. AT BLOCKING. They will flat lay the wood and actually enjoy it. Our DL is patchwork and pretty poor against the run. Wisky in the CCG was an aberration with our secondary play as it relates to poor pursuit and tackling. Really thought we had the one worked out. I imagine that we will sell out against the run and leave our CB's to be tested by Murray. Again, I like our DB's and think that teams will find it hard to beat us through the air. If I were your OC, I would simply run it down our throat. Seems to be our weak point and keeps our O off the field. Looking forward to the game. ref Martinez in his prime (VERY close now), google ESPN's sport science to see that he is truly faster than a speeding arrow. Truly the fastest first step I have ever seen. 2-3 steps and he is full speed. Pretty amazing.
  22. 4 quarter slug fest hands down. Like a lot (maybe) on this board I lived through the Fire Tom days for being unable to win against OU and not ever winning a bowl game. IIRC we dropped like 8 in a row......... Hated it, but never felt like we got "beat". We lost, but never got beat. Even in a loss the team always gave it their all, never quit and I was still proud at the end. Wisky was a beat down. It wasn't a loss. Not even close. We were not competitive from the opening drive to the last. Embarrassing IMO.
  23. Welcome back. Nice to have another fans perspective. Good stuff. TO's are our kryptonite. I agree is we TO more will lose. I also think a lot depends on what our OC Beck calls. Last year, against y'all, had we not given up the Hail Mary I think it would have been a completely different games! We seem to be able to come back in games as evidenced this season, but it is those kick in the nuts plays (hail mary, Miller's run this year and the Wisky 1st TD run). If we limit "highlight reel" plays I think we can make this a game if not win. If they put up some PS3 style run we seem to go into a hole we can't get out of. Any word on Marcus? Solid kid.
  24. Varsity restaurant and the dwarf House. Home of the Chic-Fil-A. And a lot of other stuff. Ready for the Huskers to actually show up for 4 quarters and do our part to end the SEC is the best blah, blah, blah........Pull out all the stops.
  25. You have to pay to play at Max. You will be banned. Vert tightly run board. Good conversations, knowledge and opinions, but do not take kindly to folks from other teams going over to start crap. Save your money.
