  1. Bad calls on both sides of the ball. Looked like a make-up call after the Iowa td.
  2. Can't agree more.. Screw everyone who says we do not have the players. Our coaches are the ones without talent or experience. Our players are studs. Riley, westerkamp, Jano, Moore, and so many more. You can't blame the players when the coaches can't put them in a position to win. With the right coaches, this team would be unbeaten this year. Unfortunately, we have clowns running the show. Our players are the ones who won this game. Definitely not the idiot banker. 100% agree. Go Huskers
  3. Agree 100%. This discussion would not be taking place if we would have won the close games we lost. I think we can say that poor decisions have lead to losses. Not lack of talent on the team.
  4. Why on earth would you extend the contract of the AD with a new chancellor coming on board in less than a year. Let the new person evaluate and make a change if needed.
  5. Do what they said they would do. Play to the strength of the team. Cut down on the penalties and use the clock to win games.
  6. Only the QB part is valid. We have good enough running backs and excellent receivers. Ever hear of Jordan Westerkamp? Don't you thing a coaching staff that was getting paid this amount of money could play to the strengths of the team until they get there players on campus. We won nine games the last seven years with a fire breathing dragon as the head coach. Like many have said on this board, Its not the losses its the way we lose the game that has people upset. How can we support the poor decission making by this coaching staff. Nebraska fans are well educated in the game and care about putting a good product on the field. Look back at the fan base, we have cheered on good teams after they have beatten the Huskers. We are life long fans and expect the administration, coaches, and players to be held accountable for there parts. None of the three have done there part this year. This dose not make us bad fans, it makes us fans that want the best for the university and the state of Nebraska.
  7. The AD hired this man in less than one week. Its all on him.
  8. this x1000 No not this. Coaches do not miss field goals. And coaches don't throw interceptions in OT. Coaches don't even throw head scratching pick six that factor into a loss. In fact, coaches are not on the field to hold a defensive player's hand on a Hail Mary pass at the end of a game (past 4th grade). And when a coach calls a play tagged with "run", they sure as heck don't ask the QB to improvise and pass it to kill clock. Some of y'all just point to the coach for the won-loss record. Apparently when a play works, it's because of the players and when it doesn't, it's definitely something else...... Perhaps the players have not performed well enough? Or maybe the plays attempted by the players have altered the outcome of a drive, a series, a pivotal defensive stop, etc. No but coaches teach QB's how to run the play, coaches teach defenders proper positions on hail mary passes and coaches teach players how to stay calm. Most importantly coaches put kids on the field that understand what they teach. I'm not saying it is all the coaches, but with this many issues I'm putting most of it on them. Agree, at this point should we be looking to the future and start playing some of the underclassmen an see what they can do?
  9. So why would an AD hire a coach that is going to run the WCO at Nebraska? We tried this with BC and look how that worked out. I think in the BIG this may work out worse than the BC hire.
  10. Players buy into the system when you put them into a position to win. If you don't know how to run out the clock, run the ball or pass the ball and have a secondary that is last in the country in pass coverage the players see this up close and personal. Coaches getting paid the amount of money this staff is paid should know how to get these players motivated.
  11. That is really stretching the truth. You also do not hammer in square pegs into round holes...you play with the hand you are dealt. This staff is clearly not doing that at all. Again: We will play to the strength of the program>>> This coaching staff needs to run for congress.
  12. Too all the people that complain about members on this board questioning the play calling, effort on players part, and other aspects of the game, we do this because we take pride in being from Nebraska. People love remembering the great times they had at games and rooting for NU. Taking responsibility for your actions is one thing that has made Nebraska great and seperated us from the rest of the country. Nebraska football is ingrained in the culture of the state, people support the team win or loose but will call out players or coaches that are not getting the job done. This in no way means we are not great fans. It means we want things done the right way from administration to coaches to players. Go Big Red!
  13. I don't think you're wrong. I do think fans, and apparently even some ex players, see a lackluster performance and believe that "effort" is the issue. Teams don't "effort" their way to wins (almost ever). It's about execution. And execution is about coaches preparing players during the week and then running their system in a way that leads to a higher probability of success. "Effort" isn't really as big of a factor as many want it to be. I will have to disagree with this. Execution is a direct result of effort.
  14. Agree 100% Both players and coaches need to be held accountable for the performance on the field. Is that not why we changed coaching staffs.
  15. I would actually argue that Pelini didn't do what you say he did. Most of the people on that staff were new to him, with the exception of Cotton, Brown, and Saunders. Eckler and Papuchis were GAs or interns at LSU with Bo. And Carl! Yep. Bo had about as many buddies on his initial staff as Riley. It's a totally normal thing to do. Just about every coach does it, and it's not going to stop when Riley goes. The next coach will bring in "his guys" as will the next. The only time "hiring your buddies" is a problem is when your buddies don't get the job done, and you don't fire them. But that also seems to be a pretty common theme amongst coaches. Fair enough. I guess my beef is that Riley seems to have guys who were simply his friends instead of finding "known" entities who happened to be high caliber. It's reasonable for guys to want to hire known entities that share their schematic goals, etc., but I'm not sure how common or acceptable it is to hire guys who are mediocre just because they're your friends. As someone else pointed out, Riley has a very wide network of coaches he "knows" and has some relationship with. Snuggling up to his woobie assistants just because they are his binkies is a bullsh#t, weak move. The Nebraska job gave Riley the opportunity and, frankly, an expectation to push the reset button, and shift from the play-calling HC to a CEO HC who relies on coach-in-waiting type coordinators. Let's be honest: The one and only coaching qualification that Riley, at age 62, had for the Nebraska job was his demeanor. He's friendly, respectful, calming, nice to the media, etc. Fine. I get it. You want the Riley to rinse the taste of Bo out of the program's mouth. But if that's the plan, then if you're Eichorst, you tell Riley: "But your friends are coming with you. The checkbook is open. Go out and hire top-flight coordinators who can manage the Xs and Os while you be the face of the program. Don't just use this gig as an opportunity to bring your entourage up to the penthouse." That didn't happen and now we have Mr. Rogers and his stoned, loser friends putting their feet all up on the couches and eating all our food and drinking all our drink with nothing to show for it. We have a loosing record to show
  16. Duke, I think you should consider changing your screen name to 'The CONSCIENCE'. Your posts are consistently right on the money and have been throughout (at least) this football season. There is no, and I mean absolutely NO reason to continue this little experiment any longer. Heads need to roll. The house needs to be cleaned. Things have gotten very, very ugly. This hire was a spectacular botch on so many levels. We have completely abandoned the concepts which made Husker football HUSKER FOOTBALL. There is nothing special or unique about our football team anymore, other than the passion and continued support of our fanbase filling up that stadium for every home game. Well, this fanbase has been absolutely taken, deceived, and ripped off. Wake up people. We are witnessing the destruction of Husker football happening before our very eyes. I remember everyone thinking a monkey could take us to 9 wins. I wanted Bo gone as bad as anyone, I think he was a cancer, I think he had hit his ceiling, had a God complex, and a horribly ugly demeanor and attitude. Yet we traded him in for a career .500 coach in a completely reactionary move, who runs a system completely antithetical to Husker football, which is very similar to a system which has failed here before, who has shown he does not have the ability to adapt, and who seems to have extreme loyalty to his staff, a flaw which Bo was rightly criticized for. We have an administration and athletic department who are killing, absolutely KILLING Husker football. The longer we allow this to happen, the worse it is going to get. Something needs to be done immediately. I agree 100%. The head of the university is killing this program. Have you ever seen a football coach change what they think? Ego is too big for this to happen. So we go out and hire th head coach in less than a week. I would think this would have been a hire that would have had a national search. Only reason for this was the chancellor did not want to deal with it. Academics vs Athletics
  17. Would like to know how former players feel about the current Nebraska Football Program?
  18. This administration has brought in the last three coaching staffs starting with firing FS. These academic clowns know nothing about athletics. I would guess that they get tired of athletics and the popularity the sports enjoy. Is it correct to say Nebraska Football has not been the same sense this hire. Why give this staff time to destroy the program. The manner by which this staff has lost games is mind blowing. Why would any 4-5 star athletes want to come to Nebraska and have this staff coach them down. Middle school coaches don't make the stupid mistakes these coaches are. How can you not listen to TO and other former coaches when you hire a head football coach. I have no trust this staff or administration can right the ship.
  19. Each one of these five losses were winnable games. And look what Michigan and Iowa did to NW in the previous two weeks. We are light years behind Iowa...............Iowa. I almost took you seriously. The fact that all five losses were winnable should tell us everything we need to know. They were winnable with any other coaching staff. But with Riley? A winnable game is going to be a loss 60% of the time. Make that 100% of the time
  20. Play to the strength of the team. This coaching staff can not do this. This is what we will see the rest of there ten year here.
  21. Who really thinks this coaching staff can put together a game plan?
  22. Watch what happens in the Pac 12 conf. Same stupid play calling. You hire someone that is known to throw the ball this is what you get. Its all about ego on the part of this coaching staff. Get use to it because this is what this coaching staff is going to do. So much for playing to the strength of the team.
