  1. Whatever Frank Solich gets, he deserves. The University of Nebraska treated him like a pile of cow dung after he devoted his life to the NU football program. I will never forgive the NU administration for doing that. Harvey Perlman should have been fired right along with Steve Pederson.
  2. NU fans! Forget the Alternative Uniform. We are Nebraska, not Maryland or Oregon. Uniforms do not win games. What we need is alternative 5 star players in trade for 2-3 star players. That will take care of the game.
  3. Just walk around the tail gate parties on 10th street. Huskers are some really friendly folks. You will have plenty to eat and drink. Your 15 year old boy will certainly enjoy the scenery.
  4. Stop the madness. We do not need an alternate uniform game.
  5. Glover, Suh, Winstrom, David, J. Peter Tom Novak would be in there some where! A two-way player for Nebraska in the late 1940s, Novak is Nebraska's only four-time all-conference selection on the gridiron, earning All-Big Six honors as a fullback/center in 1946 and 1947 before moving to center, where he was a two-time All-Big Seven honoree in 1948 and 1949. In addition, he also was a linebacker, who sparked fear into the hearts of opponents. In 1947, Novak's toughness earned him a spot on Notre Dame's all-opponent team, despite the fact the Huskers fell to the Fighting Irish, 31-0. A half century after his final game at Nebraska, Novak's name is still prevalent in Husker record books, as he is tied for third on the school's all-time interception list with 11. His five interceptions during the 1948 season remains a school record for linebackers.
  6. Looks absolutely awesome. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Dig out the flags and belt harnesses. Here comes flag football.
  8. I could not agree more. Talk about one person bringing a program to its knees, he certainly did that. I see he just received a 5 year extension at Pitt. Hope they keep his lousy rear end on that end of the continent.
  9. Yes. Youre right. That system. The one 20+ years in the making. Yes, and once it was recognized, it should be painfully obvious to Pelini what needs to be done to replicate it. Simply put, Pelini either does not have the components that will allow him to do that or he does not recognize what those components need to be. If I were a head coach at any university in the country, I would take a good hard look at what Osborne did at NU. He faced the same recruiting difficulties that Pelini does. Osborne founded a culture to overcome those difficulties. That system was player development.
  10. Absolutely the number one on my list. Followed by the 15 yd. penalty for horse collaring.
  11. Defense is predicated on talent. Although athleticism/speed/talent are of the utmost importance, developing those attributes to achieve the objective is critical. In order to do that, a team has to have a support system similar to what Osborne had in the 1990's. His system, (through his assistant coaches), developed the players from the weight room to the scout squad so that when they reached a certain level of competitiveness, they were able to be on the field. Until Pelini develops a similar system, our defense will be sadly lacking, year to year.
  12. Try harder next time. What is it that I am going to try harder at? The truth is the truth, no matter what red tinted glasses you wear. I am a huge Husker fan. Have been for the past 42 years. I can tell you point blank, the NU defense this year does not measure up to the defenses we have had in the past. There is no argument about that. I will tell you point blank, that you have no idea what our defense will be like this year. You haven't seen them in action yet. Not sure how you can tell anyone "point blank" that they wont measure up to defenses of the past. Where on earth did you come up with that? Maybe I missed something here. Trolling?? A point of clarification. In order to have a great defense, even a good defense, there has to be enough of a core group in the defensive line, linebackers, and D-backs to be able to build around. We do not have that. We have not had that for a couple of years. Granted, this year's defense is yet to take a three point stance, but based on the likely hood of someone stepping up their pace to make it to any all conference list or gain any national notoriety, the chances are slim that we will have a vastly improved defense. That is the reality check. And no, I do not troll!

  14. Your not being serious are you? Last I checked, this list wasn't a final one, and do you really think a professional writer is going to add someone they never seen on the field? Any list, no matter who makes up the list, is telling in that NU did not have a great defense. Do you know of a list that has NU players dominate the defensive side of the ball? Post it up!
  15. Only three Nebraska players on the the defensive side of the ball. I thought Pelini was a defensive genius and would be able to get dominant defensive recruits on the field. Guess that didn't work out too well. 3 players? No wonder we lost some really lopsided games.
  16. Nope, this is the hardest hit. John Rudd (NU) levels Kelly Phelps (OU) Also, the worst call in Football history About the 1:20 mark
  17. 1. Your first two sentences are true of every single top-tier program in the country. Alabama, Oklahoma, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Notre Dame and all the others have quality players choose other schools over them, and also have quality players leave their programs. 2. Okay, sure, let's compare to Kansas State. Nevermind that Bill Snyder might be the only example (if not the only then one of five) in the country that don't swear and yell. Also never mind that Kansas State doesn't recruit quality players, literally half of your incessant argument. They are an enigma wrapped in anomaly and the only school of their nature in the country. Can you explain to me with a direct response how exactly you explain the development and improvement of Eric Hagg, Dejon Gomes, Prince Amukamara, Alfonzo Dennard, Ndamukong Suh, Cody Glenn, Matt O'Hanlon, Larry Asante and Philip Dillard as a few examples? All of these guys played under the Callahan regime and under Bo's, and all showed dramatic improvement between coaching staffs and also between years. Explain this. Please. Also explain why you are so unimpressed with our recruiting when, the national rankings of the last two seasons seem right on line with the level that Nebraska has always recruited at: 2012: 19th, 20th, 22nd, 23rd, 30th between different sources 2013: 14th, 15th, 15th, 17th, 22nd between different sources 1991: 28th 1992: 14th, 14th, 10th 1993: 18th 1994: 20th 1995: 8th, 11th 1996: 9th, 10th 1997: 19th 1998: 17th 1999: 17th So you're so upset about our awful recruiting even though it is just one tiny sliver behind the level that we recruited at during our most dominant stretch in college football history. O k a y. Easy to answer the first question. One word, Cosgoove! For your second observation, you hit the nail right on the head. Talked yourself right into this one. It all falls back on what you do with your recruiting class. Develop the kids you have. It was what made Dr. Tom's teams so great. They worked their rears off in the weight room and on the scout team just so they would have an opportunity to play their Junior and Senior years. Why was Dr. Tom able to do what he did with regards to developing players? Because he had the support staff who could get the job done. Which, brings us back to Papuchis on the D side of the ball, and a few others, Barney Cotton being one on the O side of the ball. Callahan could recruit. But, and his staff did not develop the talent. Same thing goes for Pelini. Did yo happen to read Sipple's article today? "Personally, I think the No. 1 thing you have to be able to do is evaluate and project -- especially at our place," says the sixth-year Nebraska football coach. "You're going to have to be able to project what (players are) going to become two, three years down the road. And, you might have to just get them here first. I'm trying to grasp your arguments. Here is what I think I'm getting???? 1) We haven't been recruiting well?????????????? 2) We haven't developed the players we have?????????????? 3) We don't have the staff to do these things????????????? Is that what you are saying????????????? If you can read, you are correct.

  19. Oh I know. our practices are so unfun. Dont know why anyone would want anything to do with Nebraska. Boy, that Bo. He's such a grumpy sumbitch. I dont know how anyone thinks they could have any fun at this program. Gimmicks do not cover up the inability to recruit and develop. Pretty simple, really!
  20. Pretty good post. Couple issues though. If youre creating defensive expectations based on the spring game, it's time to step off the ledge. Half of the highly touted players didnt play, and the ones who did were split up into separate teams anyway. I'll be honest, I took more away from the 2012 spring game than the 2013 edition (but there wasnt a 2012 spring game-exactly). 2nd, as landlord said. My mood is perfectly fine. 3rd. Bo and the team did not make us look bad with some bad losses. It's a god damn game. Again, I think you need to step back off the ledge a little. Lastly. I do see your point about the Black Friday. It really seems that program just cant get over what that day did, even though a day like that was in the makings for a good 4 years to begin with. But...I like the ledge. Maybe I'm just weird, but I was really embarrassed after those games. Football's just about all we got here. I was driving down to El Paso a few weeks ago, and went through Las Cruces, NM, home of the New Mexico State Aggies. Their 'stadium' is right next to the interstate, so I got a good look at their playing field, which is basically between two hills with seats. Other than a field house at one end, that's it. It seats a fraction of what we have in Lincoln, and they rarely fill that up. That's the kind of program that gives up 63 and 70 points in one season. Not Nebraska. I once saw some tape of some spread offense fundamentals put together by Leach when he was at TTech. His scholarship athletes were drilling out in the heat of the summer, basically in a sandlot. This was the summer of 2004. Even then, we had far and away better facilities than the Raiders had, and we all know what happened in Lubbock on 10/9/04. If that isn't embarrassing, I don't know what is. It's hard to understand though, given ALL the money and fan support that HAS NOT WAIVERED through more than a decade of irrelevance. My in laws lived in Las Cruces for a lot of years. They retired there from Nebraska. When it comes to football, all they could do was laugh at the facilities and the teams the the NMSU put on the field. When Las Cruces High and Mayfield play their intercity games in Aggie Stadium, they fill it up. When NMSU plays, you can sit anywhere for cheap. There are plenty of vacant seats. NU does have good fan base an fan support. However, sooner or later, if Bo does not win something, (Conference championships or National championships), he will be gone. I remember the raw deal Frank Solich got. Of course, the devil himself (Steve Pederson) was the AD at the time. Solich was 58-19 when he was fired.
  21. My dad always told me, "Where there is money, there are thieves. And, sometimes they are your best friends." Looks like this lady found her way in life.
  22. Duh. Our strenght and conditioning as well as our phsycological programs were about 6 steps ahead of the rest of the country. Development, yes. It's what we're saying. But right now those things are just as good everywhere else. Duh duh duh. Duh, everyone knows this. However, our lack of development and the rest of the country passing us by is the whole point! Monumental embarrassing beat downs are the result. If the competition catches up with you, you had better find a way to step it up a notch. NU does not develop players anymore. Boyd Epley was a huge loss. He could develop players physically, evaluate the needs and make the changes. He even invented various weight training apparatus to meet the specific needs of players. We have the finest weight room in the country and still get pushed off of the O line and D line. We have not had a good weight room coach since. The gig is to recruit. And, we don't seem to be able to do that either. Duh x 10000000000000000000000!
  23. We had a ton more in state talent then than we do now. This year is a good year for Nebraska, however if we were a state like Missouri we wouldn't have to work as hard to recruit. I think we have a ton of talent on our roster and a lot of potential. I do believe that the kids we have on our roster have the POTENTIAL to be elite and get us to MNCs/Playoffs. There are about 60 kids from Neb. on the current team. That is a significant drop off. There was only 1 Nebraska recruit on the 2013 class list. Are we saying that there was only one kid in the state of Nebraska with enough talent and ability to play on the NU football team? Only one recruited for the 2012 team? Thee from the 2011 class? Four from the 2010 class? That is a total of 9 Nebraska kids in the last four years! I do not believe that the talent level has dropped off that much.
