  1. I actually laughed out loud at the absurdity of this post. You, sir, are deserving of your avatar. Sadly no one will be laughing four years from now. Only if they read your posts. Nobody that posts anything like the above posts knows anything about football or recruiting. Are you seriously going to tell me that the best QB recruit that we have signed in the longest time is not a difference maker? Are you going to tell me that a HS defensive end that every school in the nation could have found room for is not a difference maker? Are you going to tell me that Jordan Westerkamp isnt a difference maker? If you answer yes to any of those questions you are a flat out moron. Knapplc - My avatar hasn't changed to my Grant Wistrom 98 DE. Anything special I have to do? Difference makers only happen if there are offensive linemen who can block. Tom Brady would not be where he is if he did not have the most outstanding Offensive line in the league. NU's QB recruit will be dead in the water unless he has an Offensive Line that can block. It is that simple. As it stands now, the OL at NU sucks big time with epic ineptness. Jordan Westerkamp will not be a difference maker unless the QB has time to get him the ball. How many more yards to you think Rex Burkehead would have if he actually ran behind a line that could sustain blocks? Not getting Peat was a critical swing and miss for Pelini.
  2. If you just got home you obviously don't know that this is the 24th ranked class not 50th. Yea, 24th ! That high? That will get a lot of championships.
  3. This recruiting class is totally disappointing. Once again, we will be shackled with 9-4 seasons and minor bowl games for the next umpteen years. Bo Pelini could not recruit his mother to a sit down meal at supper time. He missed big time on Peat! Stanford got him. We had to have that guy. Stanford not only got Peat (4 star), they also inked Kyle Murphy (5 star), Nick Davidson (4 star), John Caspers (3 star), Brandon Fanaika (3 star), Josh Garnett (5 star) and Graham Shuler (4 star), all OL. Oh, by the way, you can look back at last year's class and they landed some other really good O linemen. All of these dudes play on the offensive line. Contrast that with Nebraska, two offensive lineman. That was not a typo, folks! That is correct, two offensive linemen. Do you think that the Stanford coaches know something that Bo and his staff does not? It is the offensive line that starts and stops the offensive output. Scoring more points than your opponent wins games. Everyone rants about Taylor Martinez but he needs an offensive line badly, not to mention Rex Burkehead. I get tired of this Crap! On top of that, we have probably the weakest offensive line coach in the nation. We used to be able to "develop" talent. You know the routine, freshman year, redshirt year, sophomore work your butts off. Get on the field some for your Junior year, then join the Pipe LIne your Senior Year, earn All American status and then to the pros. Now, that is not even a thought. Just look at this year's line! Who the hell did we "develop"? We have some of the weakest assistant coaches in the world. Papuchis as D coordinator? Hell, he could not even do a good job with the special teams. Did any of you watch the Bo Pelini recruiting press conference on TV? Pelini quote, "It is not important how they come into the program, it is how they leave" What a joke! What offensive or defensive lineman do you think Nebraska developed that will get drafted in the first two rounds? My prediction, none! Not even Crick! However, let us look at the brighter side. We got Sam Cotton (3 star) TE! Whoopity, Whoopity, freaking dooo dooo! Oh, we are supposed to have a good walk on class. That will help a lot. (Not) If you cannot block and cannot tackle, you cannot win. It is that simple. It all starts with the OL and the DL. Not to be redundant here, but Pelini cannot recruit! JMO!
  4. We have to get Peat. The others would be good but Peat is guy we need the most.
  5. How about an inflatable roof? Imagine the noise level of 95K people inside the house? You would not be able to think!
  6. I would like Bo to recruit better players and hire competent assistant coaches. Then, his sideline behavior would improve accordingly.
  7. The uniforms do not play the game, the players do. Our colors are not black and white! They are scarlet and cream, always been that and always will be. It really chaffs my rear end when the volleyball players wear black, or any other NU team. As I have said many times, the color of the uniform will not win the game. It is the players who win the games.
  8. Sorry, you are full of the same BS as Stevie (Wonder Boy) Pederson. Yes, we should honor Frank Solich. He gave a lot of his life to this state and to Nebraska Football. Anyone who does not recognize that is just plain ignorant of the facts. Steve Pederson is the one who ruined Nebraska Football. Again, your ignorance is epic. Read here! He was a part of Bob Devaney’s first recruiting class at Nebraska, and became a standout for the Huskers in the mid-1960s, where he earned the nickname "Fearless Frankie". An All-Big Eight fullback and co-captain of the Huskers’ 1965 team, his playing career earned him induction into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 1992. In NU's 27–17 win over Air Force in 1965, he ran for 204 yards on 17 carries, becoming the first Husker to run for 200 yards in a game, and subsequently the first Husker to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Solich returned to college football at his alma mater in 1979, spending 19 seasons at Nebraska as an assistant coach under Tom Osborne, four as the freshman team coach, and 15 seasons as running backs coach. In Solich’s 19 years as an assistant, the Huskers captured three national championships, and 11 conference titles. He was the position coach for many of Nebraska's standout running backs of the 1980s and 1990s, including Tom Rathman, Calvin Jones, Ahman Green, and Lawrence Phillips. Osborne retired after the 1997 national championship season and named Solich as his successor. Solich directed the Huskers to six consecutive bowl games. Solich did win at least nine games in five of those six seasons, and finished among the top 10 teams in the nation three times. Solich compiled a 58–19 record (.753) at Nebraska. Solich's 1999 Huskers defeated the Texas Longhorns for the Big 12 championship. Solich was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2001, and was one of seven finalists for the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award in 2001. For the first five years as head coach, Solich served as his own offensive coordinator, as Osborne had for most of his tenure. His offenses centered on the option. He also utilized such plays as the Black 41 Flash Reverse Pass which became a highlight of Eric Crouch's Heisman Trophy-winning season in 2001. The Huskers slumped to 7–7 in 2002, their worst record since 1961, and Solich shook up his staff. Solich's 58 wins during his first six seasons as Nebraska's head coach exceeded those of his predecessors, Bob Devaney (53 wins) and Osborne (55 wins), both of whom are in the College Football Hall of Fame.[1] How dense are you? This was already covered in past posts, but I'll try to make it easy for you so I'll say it again. Who couldn't win with Tom's talent that he left him. It's the failure of recruiting that lead to the downfall of the program in 2002. And 2003 was a mirage that was going to show itself in 2004 no matter who was the coach. Bo's defense set an NCAA record of getting turnovers that couldn't be matched. And that defense covered up an offense lead by Frank and Barney that was statistically WORSE than the crappy offense that we hand in 2002. That's why SP failed in firing Frank so uneducated fans like yourself wouldn't have the mental capacity to understand that whoever took the job after him (and you wonder why nobody wanted this job? Look at the roster and you will find out) was set up to fail with the talent that was left and the expectations that are here at NU. That's why Frank should have been allowed to coach in 2004 and complete his failure. The rest of that crap that you posted is irrelevant to the topic. Nobody gives a rat's @ss about him hanging around the program and riding Tom's coattails. As I stated before, by him being a Husker, it makes what he did to the program that much more of a travesty. Dense? You are the one that is dense. Frank Solich gave most of his adult life to the cause of Nebraska Football. End of story. Whatever else you have for your negativity needs to take a long walk on a short pier. The stupidity of not allowing Frank Solich his place in the hierarchy of Nebraska Football is epically stupid.

  10. The conservative hard right have no respect for the First Lady. If they lift their shirts, they will see scales on their own bellies. They are the epitome of low class.
  11. Wore them with pride for a long time. Did not bother me. Made me a better person, no doubt.
  12. Leave the Uniforms alone. They are what we are, were and always will be. We just need better players to wear the pride of the block "N" on the helmet. There is no need to change.
  13. How good can we be with TM under center next year? However good the offensive line wants us to be. It is that damned simple.
  14. How would YOU fix this Defense? Recruit 5 more of this for next year! Problem solved.
  15. First things first! This is the most important thing. Get the name on the dotted line and don't let them get away. Then, we will see how he pans out. Unfortunately for many recruits, the media builds them up to be more than they really are. Hope he is as good as reported. We will need him.
  16. Good bye! You would make a good Colorado fan anyway. Have fun some where else!
  17. Are you kidding me? Dude, a little reality check here! Pelini hires? John Papuchis as defensive coordinator? Hell he could not even coach the special teams. Just look at the bowl game, (essentially, those were his guys), a missed extra point (resulting in a two point swing for the opponent), a long kick off return, and a missed field goal. Also, what about our receivers coach, Rich Fisher? What the hell is it that NU cannot catch and hold on to a pass? Marlow's dropped ball ring a bell? Something has been critically missing in the receiving corps the last couple of years under Pelini's hires. Moving your receivers coach to a position, (running backs coach), who has never coached that position before? What the hell is up with that? All these things are meaningful, substantiated, and related to winning the damned game. Pelini's hires? And, this does not even address the ineptness of Barney Cotton as the Offensive Line coach. They are weak at best. You can say that all you want but give me any sort of evidence that Bo surrounds himself with yes men. Until then I will believe and defend the idea that Bo and Tom Osborne are taking this program in the direction they want to take it. You can't say, well he hired this guy instead of this other "more qualified" guy because he just wants to control every part of the team without any questioning. Those two things completely unrelated. More so, in your quest to prove to me that Bo Pelini hires only yes men, you took results on the field and used that as evidence. I'm sorry, but whenever you try to use stuff that happens on the field and try to accredit to the "Bo Pelini yes men" idea, you're not doing a good job proving your point. My point is simple. Pelini hired below average coaches. We have poor assistant position coaches and poor talent. Why do you think he hired these folks? They are his "yes men". Stuff that happens on the field is evidence of poor coaching. Penalties, missed blocks, lack of concentration, dropped balls, fumbles, all of this is lack of detail by coaching and execution of inferior athletes.
  18. We need this Andrus Peat kid, badly!
