  1. He'll still count as a scholarship athlete the second he plays one snap.Because of academic scholarship?Would it surprise anyone there's a loophole the old staff didn't take advantage of? What if we're at 85 and mid season he ends up kicking, what happens then?
  2. Of that order I'd go to Arky and run behind their OL. Michigan running backs are nobodies, Tennessee is a logjammer, ASU is gimmicky, same with Oregon RBs.
  3. I never attended one myself, I just liked hearing what came out from them. Recruiting recap, coaching philosophy, coaching/recruiting stories. It was also questions from the people and not media insisting that their questions are what the people want to know.
  4. Never attended a Big Red Breakfast but always looked forward to the recap. Blasphemous I know, but a guy on husker*** had a pretty good transcript. Pretty bummed they're scrapping it.
  5. Kubat, Hohensee, Howell, Chestnut team up for National Players of the Week. They deserve it.

  6. Big series sweep for Fightin' Erstads. Next week will be a great series

  7. If this team doesn't win 10 games, It'll be below my expectations. SE fired a 9 win coach to get us over the hump, not to rebuild. Our OL hasn't been anything to write home about, whatever we have in the works now and upgrade in coaching shouldnt be a drop off. Tommy and QBs have a real coach now, should be improvement. Ameer saved our bacon, but running backs ARE a dime a dozen, who's gonna step up? Our defense survived without Gregory last year in multiple games, having the right system and coaching to the players' strengths is more important than one player. Our schedule is still weak enough to get 9 wins. No reason our expectations should be lowered just because it's a new staff, new system. They came here to win and win now.
  8. Last I heard they were at 51-55k? My guess is 10k walk up and buy day of. I expect at least about 65-70k will be in attendance, blowing out the 46k capacity the coaches are used to.
  9. Some kids develop and peak at 16-18 and flame out. Some between 19-22 and don't quite adjust to NFL. The rest bloom when they get into the NFL. Stars don't mean crap in the NFL. But if you want to win a national title in college you better have a top 15 class. Only texas has won it with an average class ranking near 12, according to rivals. The year before their title they were like 19 I believe. (They had the lowest 4 year stretch) Oregon is the only school to have played IN the title game without the top 15 average too.
  10. He was an Indiana casualty in 2013 class. So, all warm schools, original school, then us. Interesting to see how this plays out.
  11. thats what i was thinkin. The big news this week is how two woman beaters and a child abuser still have jobs. Its f'ing marijuana. In my iverson voice, not cocaine. Not steroids. Not steroids. We talkin bout weed man. We talkin bout weed.Yup. He got his one pass, now he toes the line. This is only news to the public, surprised it wasn't leaked sooner, being able to squash this with teams before media jumps the story allows him to control the issue. Good coaching.
  12. No way this changes much. Too much potential
  13. Following spring game is husker baseball @6pm. I'd expect some spill over from football to pack the baseball game. gonna be a good long day.

I'm not surprised by this at all. Anyone else notice how many things we "thought" we're issues with the last staff are turning out to be right on point.

How are we gauge what issues are "right on point" at this time? In this case, what if Keels doesn't see increase snaps under Riley?

It's not about increased snaps, which by the way wouldn't be hard to surpass considering I don't really remember seeing him at all, but I think the kid just wants to feel like he got a fair shake. If the coaches told him he was doing well enough in practice to see the field on game day, then I don't blame him for being disappointed when it didn't happen.

  15. Big win for my Eastern Eagles. Tyler Harvey break out party. We Dancin.

Thanks. Did you go to Montana? Missoula served me my first underage beverages. Forever grateful.

I did, I like that I can have a Big Sky team and the Huskers because they don't really overlap in any way.

I agree. Both our programs have been pretty solid and have something to look forward after regular season. You play club baseball by any chance?

  16. Nobody is hitting the quarterback. He's not on the road in Columbus. He has support from coaches around him. They all got the playbook 2 weeks in advance to help ease into these days. Call the play and throw the ball - in practice. 3 picks does mean squat, even if a little to some. There are other QBs competing also that want to start and play as well. If they do not throw 3 picks, it probably means something to them when they get evaluated. There once was a QB competition that came down to turnovers. We won a national title that year.
  17. My guess is that he returns and I want him to return. We need him, we need another scorer. I just want to see him be more aggressive and drive the ball. Yesterday was one of the few times we went to the line more often than our opponent (in spite of the awful refs - it was like they didn't know what they were doing yesterday on both sides). He wasn't a problem last year, surround him with talent next year, he will return to form. Graduating our two big men is really going to make next year difficult, we'll be a small team and will lean heavily on jump shooters, again. Jacob Hammond has all the opportunity in the world for PT, hope he can bulk up and that the game slows down for him.
  18. Russell finally has a legit target. Welcome to the Hawks, Jimmy.

Next year when he throws a pick at the worst possible time his target will be Jimmy!

  19. Were you making a joke with this comment? No, I meant Harbaugh obviously has the NFL experience though not as a QB coach. Jim Harbaugh has more years as a QB coach in the NFL than Langsdorf. Plus I would say his success at Stanford with Andrew Luck and his 3 NFC title game appearances with Kaepernick, not to mention his playing days is a far better resume than Langsdorf's 3 seasons in New Orleans as a QC coach and assistant WR coach and his 1 year as a QB coach. But that's just me. And I hope this kid pick Nebraska. My point was Langsdorf will be his OC here and QB coach. He was also a QB coach in the NFL last year. Harbaugh was a head coach in the NFL and is the head coach at Michigan. He's also been the offensive coordinator and works with QBs during that time but wasn't and won't be working as closely to the quarterbacks because of all his other responsibilities. I wasn't trying to downplay Harbaugh's accomplishments. Okay. But when you say, "to some extent", that to me says you think Langsdorf has some greater amount of pull than Harbaugh and that just isn't true in any extent. Harbaugh has one year of QC experience, the rest have been HC gigs. I'll give him credit for squeezing talent out of players, but developing QBs is not a claim I'd automatically annoint him with. Throw out Luck and I'll shoot back Kaepernick - who has progressively become worse.
  20. He has the talent to be a national player of the year. The guy is fun to watch.
