  1. We have the lexicon champ of the week right here. Quite possibly first use of the word on these here boards? Can you find a way to add this to the coaching thread to keep the momentum going? even if its just the word diaspora itself, lets go
  2. pretty hard to get into games when the product itself is simply not enjoyable. Like, if we were even 6-6/7-5 the past few years the games would have so much more meaning and naturally more moments would exist to not only raise the fans reaction but consistently keep them engaged. having been at the michigan game last year, the vibe was great. oregon 2016 was lit, ditto for miami. hard to get excited when our product is an embarrassment and we're going up against a meh team or getting steamrolled.
  3. Bro, i am 100% sure everyone not named Mickey J and potentially Busch are gone after this year.
  4. Lol... no, they dont. Someone of urbans stature i GUARANTEE u $$$s and contract paritculars are dropped early. Just a friendly reminder, our progrum is a dumpster fire and have minimal leverage for top guys, we have $$$ to flaunt and id be shocked if it wasnt the START
  5. lol, offer being made?? s#!ttt, if there was any liklihood of urban coming to lincoln an offer would have been made a f'n month ago. Now, if u saying an announcement is imminent, well alrighty then
  6. Not sure if I agree with this. Simply put, our talent level sucks and this team is chalk full of mediocre players with a losing mentality. Not whipples fault Rhamir didn't catch the ball wide open for what woulda been a 50 yard play at a minimum, not whipples fault CT was blind as hell that first drive missing 2 wide open chances at big plays/touchdowns. We coudnt defend basic crossing routes because our defense is slow as hell. To expect the coaches in place to turn s#!t into gold in a month or 2 after frostys ineptitude is simply unrealistic. Pretty damn telling that frosty has minimal success stories as far as individual players r concerned. Wandale? Transferred. 2AM? Losing record. Is Jurgens the best story frosty can hang his hat on, a center who was more known for piss poor snapping than his level of play? Trey palmer is here only because of Mickey, prolly a good chance Casey T also only here because of mickey. Last year, our defense was a big reason we hung around in all of those games- the ironic part is a good amount of those guys who were impactful were Riley recruits. Could the gameplan been a bit better? Sure, hindsight 20/20. at the end of the day it doesnt matter- this s#!t is a dumpster fire that will take at least a couple years to get back to a level of respectability.
  7. I’m on the fence with chadwell, think it be fun but a little worried about background. agree on run the ball, I woulda loved me some bielema 7 years ago when we had the chance
  8. Agreed. My favorite part is whip seeing us get 50 yards in great runs and goes, ya know what, let’s throw it 3 times
  9. I have nothing of substance to add. Just doing my part to promote this thread and keep the post/page count climbing. I have nothing to add, I agree with all, i just wanna say this thread was a super productive use of time and I am a better person for being part of it. Thank you all
  10. There is Ohio state. (Clearly a notch above all) then the next level is Michigan. (Getting to Ohio state level but need to see a couple more years of this) then penn state- consistently ranked high yet consistently gets embarrassed by Osu or Michigan. and then there’s everyone else. I don’t think any coach who’s worth their weight looks at the other schools u mentioned as being clearly superior: wisconsin- downward trajectory, just canned their coach iowa- steep downhill trajectory, own coach sabotaged the progrum due to nepotism minn/Purdue- haven’t done s#!t, if we had our s#!t in line we’d be .900 winning % against them the past 7 years illinois- only team trending up in the west. Still has glaring holes (they lost to Indiana for f sake) if a coach looks at this gauntlet (outside of osu) and thinks he doesn’t have the levers to overcome them at Nebraska then he isn’t a coach we should even entertain. This is by far the most advantageous division due to how s#!t the rest of the teams r yet still has the platform Of the big 10, even with usc/UCLA in the mix
  11. Seeing how equally inept most of this division is and has been for years makes me even angrier at the golden opportunity we pissed away under frosty and riley. Things about to change in 2 years with usc entering the mix. Unbelievable we werent in the mix for the west division every single year, inexcusable we havent been bowl bound with this s#!t division we find ourselves in
  12. Good point. Tho, Urban isnt coaching a team right now so might not matter!
  13. I will be disappointed if it is not announced the morning of Nov 26th or the 27th.
  14. 1. no its not, historically its more around 2.5-3. More recently, home field advantage is becoming even less of a thing with better travel and more teams having same/standardized resources 2. Its a common misconception that vegas sets a line based off how they think the game will play out. They set a line with the end goal of making the most amount of money as possible while also covering their exposure. While the line obviously takes into account the teams at hand, its also set in a way to encourage money from a certain side to pour in and have the line adjust accordingly, all with the end goal of taking our money.
  15. Deion isnt going to be our next coach. ya dont need to make it racial, you can just point to the fact his resume is incredibly shallow and under-qualified for this job
  16. Thanks for your thoughts, you can put the bottle down now
  17. I dont think any one knows s#!t. Coleman can easily decommit and go elsewhere, this announcement doesnt lock s#!t up officially until he signs and steps on campus
  18. lol, yah he was "raised" here alright. I guess living here until you're 1.5 qualifies as spending the bulk of your adolescence and childhood here. You know, they say you really are who you are as a person by the time you turn 18 months old. Your surroundings and location at that point pretty much mold and direct who you are as a person for the rest of your life
  19. Someone shut this damn thread down. Of course we aint gonna be good again if we have this attitude
  20. I dont disagree with that, in theory. However, in todays world, even if u have an A guy lined up u make the announcement in December. Any incoming coach who is competent will not want to wait until early jan to announce theyre taking the job given the early signing period in place
  21. I'm hopeful he can bring the same recruiting chops here that he did at PSU under those crazy circumstances. He had some pretty solid recruiting wins despite everything hovering around that program from both a sanction and pure optic standpoint. What I've very hopeful of is that he'd place a priority on a sound o line and be able to nab some quality QB talent given his track record.
  22. You can read between the lines on that. He can easily be referencing a coordinator at a playoff bound team that might still be tied to another school. Given how coaching searches are handled these days and the amount of time we've had, I would be shocked if it isnt lined up in the next few weeks and then announcement made Sat/Sun after we beatdown iowa
  23. That to me sounds more like uneducated fans having a wrong take than anything based on fact. Bama's defense and special teams this year has been piss poor relative to past bama squads, not sure how you can pin that on O B. The bama offense is literally ranked top 5 and top 10 in a lot of key offensive areas, (Yards per play, yards per game, scoring, etc.)
  24. Easier said than done. I would love urban to be the guy, i want excellence, but i think if this was even remotely realistic we would have seen more traction and even an annoucnement so he can get ahead of recruiting as much as possible. Who outside of urban qualifies as elite to you or is it 1 guy and 1 guy only trev could hire that would appease the fans?
  25. Realistically looking at the landscape, I think its the best match for both parties: He's well respected in the coaching ranks. Both saban and belichik were gunning for his services, this has to mean something to someone like Trev Guys known as a grinder He's meticulous AF when it comes to running a progrum. He's polishing his already impressive track run at PSU under saban. His network and who he's crossed paths with puts him above 95% of the other candidates mentioned. I think Trev is going to key in on this for staff build out purposes. Today's game u need the HC to be the CEO and have legit staff around u to win consistently. When comparing what BOB brings to the table on this vs other candidates, I'm hard pressed to find a candidate that would surpass the potential. Knows the big10 He knows the NFL and can sell his time at PSU along with NFL to recruits He's realistic- he's gonna be a HC again. He's not a HC right now. He doesnt strike me as someone who is gonna do the OC path for years on end. I think the label of him wanting an NFL job is not really based in anything. If you do some research, him leaving psu had way more to do with a s#!tty relationship with the AD then it did on him leaving on his own. Trev doesn't can frosty this early if he doesnt intend on making a hire immediately following the reg season wrapping. This makes getting a coach at a HC level already a lot tougher As much as i'd be pumped about Rhule, i dont see him coming here. I think him taking a year off and waiting for another job is much more likely. Campbell is losing steam nor does it seem like he wants to come here Arranda isnt leaving Baylor to come here Leipold probably the most likely but I'd argue if you cover the name on the resume I think I'd prefer BOB Wisconsin has a list of guys before they'd go after O'b... perhaps the only school i could see him ranking ahead of us is the Auburn job. CP isnt leaving the northwest, Lane isnt realistic, we wont poach bielema from illinois, Luke F isnt leaving cinci for here, wittingham is a utah guy thru and thru, Gary patterson might be a solid hire but his ending at TCU didnt seem to be the prettiest exit. Trev knows he needs to get this right. With B'OB i think u get the guy with the highest floor (worst case scenario) yet still runway for a high ceiling. All of the other realistic candidates to me, have a lower floor and i dont see someone with a crazy higher potential unless its an Urban. I get it, its not the sexiest name or face (lol) out there but this progrum needs a whole new foundation, its not a plug n play job. Trev needs a pro that can do damage control.
