  1. 2012 - #17 2011 - #10 2010 - #8 2009 - #24 How far back do you go to include "these days"? One year? Well apparently so. Hell, I'm surprised I can remember that far back. I guess 2012 is both the best and the worst Husker team I can remember.
  2. Tell that part of you not to say things in public. Just kidding. But seriously, they may drop a game or two, but I don't see many similarities to this year's Ohio State team and last year's USC team. USC had an absurdly over-hyped QB, and a couple legit WRs, but little else. I guess you might be onto something if Ohio State's depth is as non-existent as USC's. But more important than anything roster-related, there's a huge difference between Urban and Lane. Yep, they are both douchebags, but at least Urban is a competent douchebag who knows how to coach.
  3. Not too controversial, I guess. The 17-20 range seems to be the standard starting spot for Nebraska these days, so #18 is just fine. We'll have opportunnities to move up. I don't follow Kansas State, but why are they not on here? Doesn't Snyder get the benefit of the doubt at this point?
  4. To hell with everyone's concerns about UCLA. I say we roll 'em. Something like 41-20.
  5. I've checked out other boards. I just couldn't stand the ignorance and either never joined or left after a while. It's a wasteland out there for common sense Husker talk once you get past HuskerBoard. That's because other boards don't have das knappic. Thanks, but it has far more to do with people like saunders45, The Dude, zoogies, NUance, Bye Bye Big XII, True To The Red..... Manziel

I think most would agree that this Manziel kid needs a little bit of humility. But I guess if I was compared to FDR and was a protege of both Spiderman and Jesus, I'd probably be a little cocky, too.
  7. Watch it, that's my wife you're talking about.
  8. Your opinion is fine. It's okay to argue about it and reasonable minds can disagree. However, if you don't like Martinez and he continues to start anyway, that's your problem. Quit trying to make it everyone else's problem, obviously most Husker fans feel pretty good about him.
  9. I love the Huskers as much as anyone, but how can watching a game be a higher priority than that extra income? Especially when you can go back and watch it later? Don't quit your job. But if you do, invite us all over for gameday so we can bring you a beer, since you'll have to tighten the belt on your own budget.
  10. I had a criminal justice professor once say (this was back in 1997) that attorneys, on average, create a one million dollar drain each on the economy. He proposed giving each law school grad $100K right off the bat if they chose a different career, to reduce the number of lawyers and help the economy.
  11. This is true in some areas but it's not accurate in Nebraska . . . I have heard from colleagues, although I do not know if it is actually true, that Nebraska has some of the lowest standards in the country for passing the bar. I would believe it, I've seen some really pathetic attorneys. My last two jobs have been in professions where I work with many attorneys, and there are some total dunces out there.
  12. With all the comparisons to Bubba, I think another good comparison for the sake of perspective is Khiry Cooper. I can't remember what round he was drafted in before coming to NU (4th?), but he was offered a much smaller signing bonus ($200K?)and turned it down to play two sports at NU anyway. And he didn't amount to much in either sport. Turns out Khiry would have been better off taking the money and going to the minors, even though he wasn't offered Bubba money. This Monte Harrison kid looks awesome, I sure hope he makes it here. But I'm afraid if I was him or his parents, I'd have to strongly consider any number that was offered, no matter what round it was.
  13. I sure hope nobody makes a joke about Solich later being found drunk, slumped over the handlebars of his tricycle.
  14. A good watch site is an awesome environment. In 2003, I was in Chicago for a work assignment and always went to a place called McGee's to watch the games every week. Not sure if it is there anymore. But I felt like I was back in college again at UNL going to a party, packed to the gills with red-clad neighbors. Even though I didn't know a soul in Chicago, every time I went to the watch site, I'd find all sorts of friendly folks to who would share their tables with me, and we would take turns buying drinks for each other. Met a couple friendly young ladies during those times to make my stay in Chicago a little more pleasant as well. One morning while I was sitting at the bar enjoying an omelet and a beer before an 11:00 a.m. kickoff, I met Kevin Seibel (kicker from the early 80s) and his wife. I struck up a convo with them after noticing a rather conspicuous Big 8 championship ring on his finger. Had a great time teaching them the words to the school fight songs (me being a marching band alum) every time they would blare on the speakers after a score. In Denver, I went to quite a few games at Fox and Hound watchsites as well. Always a friendly environment, often with prizes and special guests (former players) courtesy of the Coloradoans for Nebraska organization. It was a refreshing oasis of red while living in enemy territory.
  15. Holy crap, you don't really care if people can afford to live or not? Some people have it tough throuh no fault of their own and don't have the bootstraps available to pull themselves up with. This includes the disabled, abused, mentally ill, and folks with children. Lots of children. Why should we give a sh#t if any of these people can get by? If their wages don't cover their needs, then our tax dollars do. Our emergency rooms and hoomeless shelters, our street corners. This isn't just about lazy people not working hard enough or educating themselves or taking advantage of the system (there are plenty of those, mind you). Lots of people, families, children, have to try to get by on miniscule wages, no savings, no insurance, no future. There is no easy answer. Raising minimum wages is one thing, but that would have other effects, and no one really knows an all-encompassing solution. But good god man, you certainly should give a sh#t about your fellow man.
  16. I think a big factor for the UCLA game will be the fact that the Bruins will be on the road, playing at 9:00 a.m. California time. I tend to think that some of the mistakes that were made in last year's game get fixed, and the Huskers win handily. Call me crazy.
  17. LOL, there are 5 QBs on Nebraska's roster alone who could lead a team to a better record than 4-8 in the Mountain West, other than Martinez.
  18. Without knapp, his coworkers would have to learn to make their own cinnamon rolls.

    Manziel

And he died at what age? Babe Ruth was only 20 years old in this picture, strung out from too much partying, tweeting, and music video appearances. Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.
