  1. You are correct. Irvin posted later a relative gave him this money as a graduation present. This will be accepted as a legitimate source of the money by those who want to see it as such, and not by those who don't. I am in the latter. a graduation present? In January? Correct me if i am wrong, but aren't most graduations at the end of May and not the end of January? Or a grand (or so) in cash? You'd think most relatives would just write check instead of going to the bank to get some freshly printed $20s.
  2. I assume all supplements were part of the nutrition program based on player needs so the players never had a reason to buy their own.
  3. No I see it, and this shows exactly what I've been saying. There is talent everywhere. We can get it close, and we can get from far away. Why limit ourselves to the 500 mile radius? You expand that circle by just 200 miles. Hundreds of recruits come into play. But everyone says we can't compete with anyone, so let's stay in our little corner and sob, because we don't have enough recruits to pick from. Nebraska is a blueblood program. There should be no reason Auburn or Florida St. is anywhere close to Kansas and Oklahoma. But we sure as hell better be in Florida and Alabama trying to poach some of their recruits, because in the grand scheme of things Nebraska is a greater program than either of those two. (maybe not for the past 5-10 years, but we have a hell of a lot more to offer than either of those programs, if someone would just try and sell it) Nebraska USED to command the respect that Alabama did on the recruiting trail (did you notice how many Alabama stickers are spread all over the USA?), now the fan mentality is just sad. We can't compete, it takes to much effort to fly kids in. What about their poor parents coming to see them play? Can't bring kids in on gameday because it interferes with someone watching cartoons on Saturday morning. Why stop at 700? I hear Europe has some pretty good football players.
  4. At this point in the recruiting game I think you HAVE to play hardball. Tell him if he goes to Michigan he can consider himself not committed to Nebraska and we will act as if and pursue another TE. We are in no position to do this. Where would we be if we pulled offers to Snyder, Davis, Davis, Neal and Jones? This. I also think it's a sleazy move. Let the kid make the best decision for himself. These recruits are probably under a lot of pressure anyway let's not burden them more.
  5. If anybody here hasn't already, check out Burrow's senior highlights on hudl. Were he to sign with Nebraska he might be the most complete passer on the roster as a true freshman.
  6. http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/71667-jaevon-walton/page-2 He's headed to an FCS school in Louisiana.
  7. That's what they all thought about Clowney. What did he play in 4 games this year.Clowney also was taking plays off. His own head coach called his attitude into question. I saw Gregory running sideline to sideline when he was on the field. The two comparisons their final year in college aren't even close.
  8. These are the kind of kids you can build a program on. Solid class so far not just as players but as people.
  9. Which "other" bowls meant less this year than they have in previous years? Huskers should remember when the Orange Bowl was always must see tv and often the winner was the national champion. Now they have to use their contracts to select teams worth watching. In the future there will be some Oranges pitting Notre Dame vs ACC #2 (who is already on ND's regular schedule). Boring. The Rose will take a hit when it isn't a playoff, this year would have been Arizona vs Wisconsin, compared to TCU vs Wisconsin where the Frogs were playing for a credible share of the national title even if not the official argue (and probably playing for a conference invite). The Peach and Cotton should be better, as they are being promoted. Still it's not like the old NYD when any bowl could affect the national title. AND Drunkoffpunch teams played for their final AP ranking since it was a viable talking point since things were not run by computer/committee. Even in the BCS bowls like Oregon-KSU they played for a top 3 ranking and the right to claim they should have played for the title. That's exactly my point. They weren't playing for hardware they were playing so they could complain they weren't in the NC game. The winner of this years game would've been Bama or FSU and Oregon and OSU would've been playing for a 'ranking.'
  10. Bowl games? How would it diminish the bowl games if they would be rotating. 8 teams makes sure the Power 5 conference champions get in and at larges. I don't get how the regular season is watered down though. N College Football wants us to watch the 'NY6' bowls in the same way we used to watch all the Jan 1st major bowls. Problem is as they expand the playoff, the other bowls are playing for less and less. Also this year the timing was troublesome, if you were on the West Coast, the Peach Bowl kicked off at 9:30am on a Wednesday. How so? The BCS system used one game to decide it's champion. All the other major bowls like the Rose or Fiesta that weren't the NC game were basically meaningless when it came down choosing a NC. These major bowl games are being absorbed into the playoff system. I hardly see how that would diminish their value.
  11. So...worthy enough to be in the 2015 recruiting profiles now?
  12. Oregon getting the last visit scares me.
  13. Nobody is questioning what he has done, they are questioning what he'll do without the Oregon system. Fair enough. I just think he's shown really good ball security, and that's one thing that will carry over to the NFL game really well. Off topic but wouldn't it be something if the Eagles traded away some of their QB's and traded up to get him?
  14. Markus Wheaton who is now with the Steelers was an All American WR at OSU.
  15. I think Mariota will be an excellent NFL QB. At 6'4 he has the 'NFL standard' height.' He has a career completion percentage of 66.8%. But the most mid blowing stat is he's only thrown 13 INTs in his career on 755 attempts. A young QB can win a lot of games in the NFL by not turning the ball over.
  16. Scott Frost? Wow, it had been almost 2 days since I had last seen a mention of Scott Frost on this board.

  18. Hagg was one of the best cover corners of passes <10 yards in CFB I have ever seen. Throws such short slants or in routes were his specialty. His ability to read the route, time the pass, and then making a play on the ball while also wrapping up the receiver was second to none in that range. All the yards we've given up on those plays after his absence prove that.
  19. CB- Amukamara, SJB S- Hagg, Gomes K- Henery P- Maher Kind of wish there were 3 choices for CB since we used Peso so often.
