  1. Morning Joe show has it about right. Wt all of his stranger tweets, picking battles wt British PM May - Trump is becoming unhinged. Time for amendment 25 article 4 action - if only the cabinet, VP, and Congress had the guts to do so. https://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/susan-jones/msnbcs-morning-joe-trump-mentally-ill-has-dementia-remove-him-office Brzezinski also quoted "New York Times" reporter Maggie Haberman, who said "something is unleashed with him lately. I don't know what's causing it. I don't know how to describe it." Among the most recent criticisms of Trump: His feud with British Prime Minister Therea May over Trump's retweeting of "conspiracy theories," including videos posted by a British woman that purport to show Muslims killing Christians or attacking Christian symbols. Scarborough said Trump's tweet about him is another "cruel" conspiracy theory: "And this comes in the midst of a nuclear showdown with North Korea," Scarborough said. “So I'm just kind of wondering -- what's the Cabinet waiting for? What are Republicans in the House and Senate -- because it's never going to get more deadly serious than it is now." Scarborough predicted that “America will survive this," but -- "at this particular moment...we are headed toward a nuclear showdown...We are closer to a war on the Korean Peninsula than most Americans know." Ad Feedback "If this is not what the 25th Amendment was drafted for -- I would like the Cabinet members, serving America, not the president, serving America ...you don't represent him," Scarborough continued. "You represent 325 million people whose lives are literally in your hands, and we are facing a showdown with a nuclear power and you have somebody inside the White House that the New York Daily News says is mentally unfit; that people close to him say is mentally unfit; that people close to him during the campaign told me had early stages of dementia. “When are we supposed to say this?” Scarborough asked. “After the first nuclear missile goes? Is that when it's proper to bring this up in polite society?
  2. Yes, if the Dems can run a decent candidate in my district - good chance that is where I'm going to vote (or any independent/3rd party candidate)just to send a message if anything as the Republican candidates will easily win my very red district. But can the Repubs in Congress connect the dots to DT?? Of course if the repubs loose the house and/or senate the message will be sent. DT may say that the voters voted against an ineffective congress - he will never see himself as the blame for the congressional change.
  3. To my post above about NK I add this link. I wonder how we will 'utterly destroy' them? Use a Nuke?? https://www.newsmax.com/Politics/Koreas-Tensions/2017/11/30/id/828950/ The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations said Wednesday that North Korea's launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile — which some observers believe could reach the Eastern U.S. — "brings us closer" to a war the U.S. isn't seeking. Nikki Haley, speaking at an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council, said that if war comes as a result of further acts of "aggression" like the latest launch, "make no mistake the North Korean regime will be utterly destroyed." "The dictator of North Korea made a decision yesterday that brings us closer to war, not farther from it," Haley said. "We have never sought war with North Korea and still today we do not seek it."
  4. Nice seeing the option - it looked different than our old option but it was the option. Scott has mixed in the old wt the new.
  5. That last tweet about the Chinese Envoy having little impact on LRM has me very concerned. I see that as an open door or invitation for Trump to launch a per-emptive strike on NK. In other words, in his sicko mind, it sets him up for grandeur - coming to the rescue of all nations where others have failed. He'll take it into his own hands and deal wt NK.
  6. If we are talking about just in the past MR and Bo years, then these come to mind besides those already mentioned: Mike Riley having a team meeting wt the lady who was sexually abused by some Oregon State players. It was a proud moment for MR to face this issue head on and it was happening as Baylor was being rocked by even worse allegations. I was proud of the Husker program for doing so. Hiring of Bill Moos Tom's farewell after retiring as AD at NU
  7. Part of me wishes the Congress would get their budget and tax bill passed - then maybe they would take action against Trump. But that is wishful fantasy. Regardless of what they pass or don't pass, Congress has shown an unwillingness nor the ethical courage to take on Trump. If they had the ethics and character to do so, they would have done so by now regardless of its affect on their pet legislation. They have absolute power wt House, Senate and WH - they have shown absolute corruption by sitting on their thumbs and doing nothing while this presidents embarrasses us each day.
  8. Yes and as I posted on the Trump's America thread - calling Sen Warren "Pocahontas" - He does this unprovoked, out of the blue and his communication person, Saunders, defends him. The guy is more than a nut case, he is literally a threat to our nation in so many ways. - Don't have time to elaborate now but he is destroying our culture, our political system, is unstable and may do the unthinkable with NK etc, etc, etc.
  9. Proves once again we have a mental midget in the WH, a psychopathic nut case. I just got done reading the book "Truman" by David McCullough. What a great man, great president. The decisions he had to make are beyond the burden any one man should be responsible to make. But he was a man of great character, respect and personal dignity. A far cry from Trump. It is a shame one like Trump should sit behind a desk that was occupied by so many great men.
  10. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/white-house-explains-donald-trump-212820753.html Two articles - one following the other - Trump calls Sen Warren- "Pocahontas" and the attempt by his spokesperson Sanders - defending him or trying to. I agree wt Warren on this. He is a poor excuse of a leader when he has to constantly beat people down just to look good - this one coming from far right field and unprovoked - he has some mental issues for sure Warren response: Warren addressed Trump’s White House insult to the Native American marines. “It is deeply unfortunate that the President of the United States cannot even make it though a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur,” Warren responded on air to a question from MSNBC. “Donald Trump does this over and over thinking somehow he is going to shut me up with it. It hasn’t worked in the past; it is not going to work in the future,” she added.
  11. And Palisade(s) is a state park in S. Dak. I've enjoyed it many times growing up in SD. https://gfp.sd.gov/state-parks/directory/palisades/
  12. Just as long as Scott starts recruiting - got a class wt early signing date looming. We need to keep the recruits that fit Scott's program and bring on new ones that he has been in contact with already.
  13. I want to take a moment to say Thank-you. Thank-you Bill Moos. The hiring of Bill, I believe, will be looked upon as a pivotal moment in NU football history - perhaps only exceeded by the hiring of The BobFather and Tom as head coaches. My assumption is that he has unofficially hired SF and it will become formal after the AAC CG. I believe the way he handled the coach search quietly behind the scenes & allowing MR to stay on and finish the season - including the after firing press conference, places NU in a very favorable light nationally. NU looks pretty good at this point assuming SF is hired. There was no frantic looking @ day 40 of the search like there was wt Peterson. There is no negativity of firing a 9 win coach as happened wt Bo and Frank. There was no knee jerk reaction as we've seen in Florida, TN, and UCLA. In the end, we end up finally with the hottest up and coming coach in football. So I think we can finally bury the negativity around the previous firing/hires going all the way back to Frank. The way Moos has handled this situation is all top notch by a mature professional. I believe we will finally have a united fan base, an exciting young, visionary coach that great recruits will want to play for and hope that we will return to the Nebraska way, relevance, and become a part of the national conversation once again. For all of that I want to salute and thank Bill Moos. He handled the whole episode wt class, dignity, wisdom and has clearly embraced NU values and traditions. Now it is up to SF to make it happen. I have no doubts that he will. Go Big Red
  14. NU turns out looking pretty good at this point assuming SF is hired. There was no frantic looking @ day 40 of the search like there was wt Peterson. There are no negativity of firing a 9 win coach as happened wt Bo and Frank. There was no knee jerk reaction as we've seen in Florida, Tn, and UCLA (who had to do so because their eyes were on Kelly). In the end, we end up finally with the hottest coach in football. So I think we can finally bury the negativity around the previous firing/hires going all the way back to Frank. The way Moos has handled this situation is all top notch by a mature professional. 15. It would also be nice to see the red balloons launched within the 1st minute of the game. Yes I agree, I'd rather take a very cold seat & butt and a Runza hand warmer any day to going shopping on Black Friday. I'll be at the Okla Husker Club giving one last yell for the season.
  16. compare our 3-4 vs UCF's 3-4. I know the philosophy is different - ours is passive, theirs is aggressive. It is noticeable in the Tackles for loss that the aggressiveness pays dividends. UCF has 11 more while playing one less game. Competition is different but they are doing this among their G5 piers and we against our P5 piers. Comparing NU's 11 games vs UCF's 10 games we see the same # of sacks - 14 for each team. Sacks per game NU 1.27 ; USF 1.40 NU: 5.5 by DL UCF: 6.5 by DL Tackles for Loss: NU 38 and UCF 49 (again one less game). From www.cfbstats.com :
  17. I figured it was - thanks for confirmation FGB and St Paul
  18. Speaking of Parrella - how much responsibility does he have in regards to the poor rush D and the lack of QB pressure/sacks? Is it all on the DC because of his lousy scheme? My gut tells me he is a quality coach and can develop the players but my eyes argue due to the overall results.
  19. I see now this was posted before I did This may have been posted in this massive fast moving snooze and you lose thread, according to USA Today Kelly had turned down a Nebraska offer. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2017/11/22/chip-kelly-considers-offers-florida-ucla-turns-down-tennessee/888551001/ Kelly turned down a recent offer from Tennessee, the person said. He is also believed to have turned away interest from Nebraska.
  20. 1. Passion - passion for NU, passion on the field, excitement and confidence to overcome every obstacle - regardless of who we are playing. 2. Development --Development of the players regardless of star power - 5 stars can be developed (or wasted) as well as 2 star kids. 3. Adjustments - real time in game adjustments - seems like our D made adjustments only at half time if at all. 4 Line Development/priority: Going wt Jr's theme above - I'd say start taking stats on PANCAKES. I think at the core, our OL is the key to our offense. Line Development on both sides of the ball is key. Our running game has been worse than pathetic and our QB sack #s have been only a blimp on the radar.
  21. why not be serious - this resume is nothing to sneeze about from the link on the post above by HIHusker: Carlos Polk begins his eighth season in the NFL and his fourth season as assistant special teams coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2017. In his first three seasons with Tampa Bay (2014-16), Polk has helped coach one of the top punt coverage units in the NFL, allowing only 5.5 yards per punt return, the lowest mark in the NFL during that timeframe. The 2016 season saw a banner year from punter Bryan Anger, who set Buccaneers records for both punts inside the 20 (37) and net punting average (42.7), with both of those ranking in the top five in the NFL in 2016. Josh Robinson was one of Tampa Bay’s key special teams players, leading the team with 12 solo special teams tackles, tied for the third-most in the NFL. In 2015, Polk helped coach punt returner Bobby Rainey, who was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 5 against Jacksonville. In the contest against the Jaguars, Rainey totaled 85 punt return yards, including a career-long 58 yard return, the longest return by a Buccaneers player since 2009. Rainey’s 85 punt return yards were the most for a Tampa Bay returner since 2008. Rainey finished the year ranked in the Top 10 in punt return average, punt return yards and total return yards. Polk joined Tampa Bay following one season (2013) as a coaching intern for the Dallas Cowboys, where his primary duties included assisting with all areas of practice, breakdowns and weekly planning. Before joining the Cowboys in 2013, Polk spent three years in San Diego (2010-12) as the special teams assistant and one year in the college ranks as a linebackers and special teams coach at Grossmont (Calif.) College (2009). Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Polk spent eight years (2001-08) in the NFL as a linebacker and special teams player, where he compiled 120 tackles, four sacks and three forced fumbles playing for San Diego (2001-07) and Dallas (2008). A first-team All-American linebacker at Nebraska (1997-2000), Polk played in 47 games including 23 starts in his final 23 contests. Polk finished his college career with 227 tackles, 10.0 sacks and two interceptions (one returned for touchdown). Polk graduated with a degree in sociology from Nebraska. He is a native of Rockford, Illinois, and is married to Monique. He has two sons, Devonn and C.J., and two daughters, Deja and Miracle. POLK AT A GLANCE YEARS POSITION 1997-2000 Nebraska, Player 2001-07 San Diego Chargers, Player 2008 Dallas Cowboys, Player 2009 Grossmont College, Linebackers and Special Teams Coach 2010-12 San Diego Chargers, Special Teams Assistant 2013 Dallas Cowboys, Coaching Intern 2014- Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Assistant Special Teams Coach
  22. Carlos Polk - if he coaches like he played at NU - bring him on as ST coach NOW- we need help there for sure.
  23. Couldn't have said it better. Thanks BRB
  24. The revitalization of the Republican party may be found in the younger generation of Republicans as this article notes. This group of young Repubs suspended support for Moore - something the state party has not done. Good for them. http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/story/news/politics/2017/11/20/young-conservatives-speak-out-against-moore-support-it-not-win-our-party/875738001/ Quote: Young professionals and the urban enclaves they often flock to have never been strong performers for Moore, who typically attracts an older and rural voter pool. But these young conservative voters are also the future of their party, and they're are less focused on social issues like gay marriage and abortion, core tenets of Moore's evangelical base. “I’ve spoken to Moore before, spoken to a lot of his supporters and surrogates, and I haven’t seen a consistent policy there, other than that abortion and gay marriage are evil. I am a very conservative, evangelical Christian. But I don’t think that Christianity begins and ends with abortion and gay marriage,” Michael Bullington told the Montgomery Advertiser this week. Many are now grappling with the idea of a state party who is sticking beside Moore despite numerous calls for him to withdraw. On Saturday, the Young Republican Federation of Alabama suspended support for Moore's candidacy, calling for Moore to step aside if he is "unable or unwilling to clearly and convincingly" refute the allegations against him. The resolution marks a public break from the state Republican Party steering committee, which issued a statement Thursday in support of Moore.
  25. To all of you flat earthers out there, here is your savior. Wish him a Happy Thanksgiving as it may be his last. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/speaking-of-science/wp/2017/11/21/this-man-is-about-to-launch-himself-in-his-homemade-rocket-to-prove-the-earth-is-flat/?utm_term=.e980c18006ab
