  1. It's a fake hamstring. Essentially a large rubber strap down the back of the leg
  2. - that you can't start 3 walk ons among a beat up OL and expect to beat one of the best teams in the nation. - that we don't have the personnel to get to the opposing qb without blitzing. - that we do need a special teams coach....just not this one - that Tommie may not have a C on his jersey, but he is definitely the captain of this ship - that this season is going to end up going just like I thought it would go: a good but not a great season - that it all begins and ends with dominating the line play. - that, while I am butt hurt, I will still cheer on DONU next Saturday, just like I have since 1968
  3. Same here...I think we have the talent. Now the staff though.........at least the coordinators I think the opposite. Why do you think we have the talent ? Is that what you think is on display tonight? Two equally talented teams with one just being severely out coached ? I look at Carter, Westy, Reilly, DPE, Gerry, Kalu, Jones, Williams and don't see us that down in talent. On the ol, yes. DE, yes... but play calling blows. Langs is officially in the same boat as Watson and beck. Banker, please. Take a look at the lines. That is where we are lacking. Agree with others who are saying we cannot win these types of games with three walk ons
  4. Very impressed with his video! I can see why they offered. Appears to have elite speed and changes ďirection on a dime. This is a very good offer.
  5. He also won't have 2 five stars and a 4 star catching the ball for him every single play here. Great QB, but just to be fair. Eh, I dunno. We got two 4*s in the upcoming class. And both DPE and Stanley Morgan coming back. And Bryan Reimers. We're set at WR. Goes both ways. They may make him look better but I bet he is making them look better as well Just 2 4 stars and potentially a 5 star. Plus Morgan. Plus dpe. Your right though
  6. Really think Jeff Kinney deserves a spot here
  7. + Tre Bryant is going to be better than good + We can win the turnover game + our receivers....all of them.....are legit + love the guy...played high school ball with him...but Bohl's defensive schemes still don't work - a special teams coach is not a cure-all - Knevel is soft - we can't get to the qb without a blitz - Carlos Davis can play ball - we are undisciplined (penalties)
  8. does anyone else think he looks just a tad bit heavy in tht vid? Don't get me wrong, I love the kid, but he is going to be so much better when he gets into our meal and weight programs!
  9. Gotta love the early feedback on what Parella last has done so far.
  10. I don't remember Koch shanking as many punts as Foltz has not that he has had a ton, but enough to be noticeable
  11. When I was running track there in the late 70s they still had cot frames that were used in WW2. A lot of history in that building.
  12. His size is exactly what we need in a tight end getting ball offers speaks to what his athleticism is. Looking forward to seeing him play down the road.
  13. There is no reason we shouldn't be able to bring in the top 5 recruits in state every year if we want them. It should be a goal. Wasn't Larry Station also a nebraska kid that went to Iowa? Agree that should be the goal but our in-state pipeline has always had some leaks. Junior Bryant from Creighton Prep in the early 90s was one that always stuck with me. Great HS DE/DL but chose Notre Dame. Can't blame him but would have loved to see him in Lincoln...
  14. Johnny Mitchell was a genuine star as a receiving TE and decent blocker. To compare them at this point would be unfair as Carter is nowhere near the playmaker (yet) of a Mitchell. Mitchell was likely the best receiving TE ever as a Husker. He had real speed and soft hands and great size. He had the speed of an average WR lining up at the TE position. I don't recall exactly his roster listed size but my recollection is about 6'5 and 255 (probably like about 6'7 and 270 in today's bigger size players generally). We may have had a couple guys listed as TEs who were straight line faster but none really compared in my view as a receiver. He was an average blocker and many a Husker TE in Osborne era were tougher blockers. It's have always thought that our best tight ends were Mitchellooking and Junior Miller. Junior was just a beast!
  15. Test will be tough with only 2 open Scholls
  16. I like Ozigbo at this weight. I just hope he gains more muscle. The "lose some weight" thing wasted a year of imani's career
  17. Would like to see POB get one series a game or one a half to prep him for 2017. PInKle has done this in the past Wirth pretty good long term success. Seems to me that Chase Daniel did this as a freshman even though they had a 3 yr starter returning
  18. Neither proving nor disproving this allegation about Wisconsin, I looked at the numbers. If this exercise proved anything, it's that putting numbers into a spreadsheet is always entertaining. Including Wisconsin, 2014 Nebraska faced 487 rushes, giving up 2,357 yards. That's 4.84 yards per carry. Excluding Wisconsin, 2014 Nebraska faced 434 rushes, giving up 1,776 yards. That's 4.09 yards per carry. 2015 Nebraska faced 380 rushes, giving up 1,428 yards. That's 3.76 yards per carry. Excluding 2015 Nebraska's worst rush defense game (Purdue), Nebraska faced 343 rushes and gave up 1,245 yards. That's 3.63 yards per carry. An apples-to-apples comparison, total games vs. total games, shows the 2014 Huskers gave up 1.08 more yards per carry than the 2015 Huskers. A second apples-to-apples comparison, worst game taken out for both, shows the 2014 Huskers gave up 0.46 more yards per carry than the 2015 Huskers. Not to nit-pick but I see slightly different numbers on Huskers.com All games: 2015 - 1428 yards allowed on 379 attempts for 3.77 ypa 2014 - 2312 yards allowed on 488 attempts for 4.74 ypa 2013 - 2030 yards allowed on 538 attempts for 3.77 ypa Less worst game: 2015 - 1245 yards allowed on 342 attempts for 3.64 ypa 2014 - 1731 yards allowed on 435 attempts for 3.98 ypa 2013 - 1759 yards allowed on 484 attempts for 3.63 ypa So the 2015 defense was all but identical to the 2013 version on both. 2015 was basically one yard per attempt better overall and about a foot better per attempt adjusted. Somewhat better than last year, no discernible difference from the year before. But I'm not sure even that tells the whole story. I think it's pretty obvious that the quality of rushing attack we faced this year was a significant drop-off from last year. Impossible to quantify but Miami, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan State were all minus their starting RB from 2014. Miami and Wisconsin were short there best two RBs from the previous year and four of those guys were drafted last June. So I don't think it's a stretch to say there was not a lot of difference in how successful our rush defense was this year compared to previous years. Probably slightly better than last year but a lot of the difference can also be attributed to the quality of the opponents. I kind of disagree. I see the point you are trying to make. However that is like saying if you take out one playback game NU would have 9 wins. I don't think you can take out a stinker. They own every game every rush and every play counting all of that, 2015 was almost a full yard per rush better which is significant
  19. Nothing wrong with a little pride about being competitive with Illinois, and competitive (ish) with Purdue. And beating a top 10 MSU. 6-7 in year one of a transition that included a contentious firing, a coach who was a total ass on his way out and tried to poison the team on his way out and a culture shock with both leadership style and scheme. That is a lot to overcome. Could we have done better? Absolutely. But it could have been a helluva lot worse too. Not excusing the record because like all of you I think it socks. I am just saying let's exercise a little patience. If year 2 doesn't show some big improvement then we can light the torches.
  20. biggest difference was him not throwing off his back foot and into triple overage. That's on him, not the coaches.
  21. ucla is one of the worst rush defenses in the nation and for whatever reason played with only 6-7 in the box all night. So you might wanna analyze the competition before jumping on the soap box and showin Langsdorf you told-you-so card. Its just the way i see it. But yes, this is how these guys wanna manage a game. We just happened to be in a matchup where we had that advantage to do so. This sh#t dont happen like that in the Big ten. Ucla played Pelini-esqu defense tonight. By god as my witness they were not gonna let tommy have that big flashy pass play. No way. Lol. So we better tailor the excitement some. And dont call the buy in issue bullsh#t. It was real on many accounts and cited by several folks much more knowledgeable than myself. And ot was obvious to me. But obviously after that Purdue game there were some foots put down and some tough conversations had. And im callin out nate gerry cuz after that purdue game i was done with him. I was ready for him to never take another snap again. His effort and lack of give a damn was embarrasing. But whether he himself made the turnaround or there was another motivational factor in place, he made a 180 and has set a tone. And holy cow was he ballin tonight. He made me look like an a-hole. And i love it. He didnt just pack it in. He rallied and got back when everyone was cominng down on him. This doesnt absolve the questionable coaching decisions that took place. But a game is a compilation of 60 minutes and nearly 200 plays. And its won as a team and lost by the team. While you nitpick 2-3 times the coaches f'd us i could do the same in terms of the players. Team includes everyone. Coaches. Players. Trainers. Statiticians. Everyone. great post. Said most everything I was thinking as well. On the "buy-in" thing, didn't Gerry himself say after one of the games (Purdue?) a lot of the guys talked amongst themselves and decided they needed to buy in 100%? Their play changed in the last 4 games... on the play calling crap that keeps being brought up even in the face of a very good game, I went through the 70's and 80's with this team and am here to tell you that TO ws questioned every bit as much as DL has been this year. "why is Osborne calling that play AGAIN when it hasn't worked at all today!" "Stop running up the middle!" "why can we only call three different plays! Try something different!" were all common refrains. Life was not always like the '94-'97 years when we just rolled everyone. I have screamed at the play calling just like the rest of you, but let's get some perspective here. We haven't totally agreed with any play calling throughout the years including TO. That is why we are fans. We want every single play to break for a first down or TD. That's not realistic. That is just fandom. DL will improve as he continues to get a feel for exactly what his team can/cannot do. Lets just enjoy the win and look forward to the momentum we have created in the last part of the season.
  22. So what I hear you saying is that a win means nothing, but a loss would mean WHOAH!! And with Nebraska's clear talent advantage, that loss could only fall on one man's shoulders. Stop
