  1. Pretty neat little article given the 50th anniversary. http://www.kansascity.com/2013/11/21/4639838/after-his-brother-died-bobby-kennedy.html
  2. "Whoever doesn't start at QB next year (TA or JS) is going to transfer. TA is the next Cody Green. Stanton is Tebow 2.0" I don't believe that TA is the next Cody Green, nor do I believe that Stanton is Tebow 2.0... But I am very curious to see how their QB battle next year plays out, and would not be shocked to see one of them transfer. If TA gets the start, why would Stanton want to wait around and maybe start for one season? If TA gets beat by Stanton after stepping in this season and guiding us to a couple victories (Who knows, he could very well take DONU to the Big Ten title game and a possible backdoor shot at playing in the Rose Bowl) how well would he take that? QB will be a very interesting position to watch the next couple years.
  3. Thus Bo's comments about f'ing fairweather fans???? btw- I agree with the assessment, but I just couldn't resist. As far as Bo's comments go, he was spot on a few times... however I think that in itself is a totally different conversation. I just think that too many of us 20 somethings and under missed out on really getting to grow up with Nebraska football being so relevant nationally. Scott Frost got booed off the field for less than what most losses at home have been recently. Our expectations are different. Not necessarily cynical in nature, but consistent with the Nebraska football we've grown up with.
  4. Not to mention that I think this generation of students does not exactly have their hopes and dreams pinned on Husker football. These kids grew up with the Frank Solich and Callahan era... not exactly the same pedigree as the 70s, 80s and 90s where NU was consistently in the title hunt.
  5. I hated the Student Section when I was a student at UNL from 2007-2011. The view was bad, the rows were packed too tight, too many sorority girls (while enjoyable to look at...) taking up space and not caring about the game, people obscenely drunk sometimes puking... Not that fun of an experience.
  6. Yeah I thought that was a little unnecessary too. Why risk him getting hurt... *sigh* so early in the season? We don't need, rather, shouldn't need Martinez to run DONU to victory.
  7. Any chance this is our 2011 NW game? Perhaps NU chose to focus on UCLA and not go all out to prepare for Wyo and So. Miss?
  8. I'm relatively hesitant to mention this but it has crossed my mind... With the D being so inexperienced and vulnerable, would it be in our best interest to slow down the game with our Offense? Huddle up instead of hurry up. We have the athletes on Offense to wear down the opposing Defense. I was thinking a barrage of 4 and 5 yard runs each play. Every play doesn't need to be a home run. Make the drives last about 8 or so minutes rather than trying to score as fast as possible to have the D back out on the field.
  9. My heart wants to agree with you, but I'm still seeing jet sweeps in my nightmares... Gotta say 10-4 with blowouts and losses that were given away until it's proven otherwise.
  10. Jerseys are for kids and hot girls
  11. Typical coach speak I'm guessing. "Sloppy, good energy, learning the playbook, ready to hit, a lot of guys are competing..." I only hope for no or minimal injuries. If it were up to me I wouldn't play Martinez any more than necessary. In preparing for the coming seasons the backup QBs will need a boat load of reps. The O seems to be pretty solid and falling into place. No real question marks except for tight ends really. The D on the other hand will be the story. D line and LB ... somebody, anybody needs to step up. The secondary should be as nasty as they've ever been. I would like to see a good emphasis on special teams, mainly defending kickoff and punt return. That has gashed us badly the past few years and our D will need all the help they can get.
  12. I would say there's an outside shot. As long as the key players stay healthy, out of trouble, focused and constantly playing at a high level... who knows how far they'll go. If the defense gets better (which I think they will) it will really dictate the way the season goes. If the D doesn't improve then another 4 loss season it'll be. But if they step up to the plate, I could see a serious conference title run. And say we run the table and win the B1G, there should be no reason we won't be in the national title hunt.
  13. New gun legislation isn't going to cure mass shootings. However, if it reduces the risk significantly, shouldn't it be implemented? If gun murders go down from say 12,000 a year to 5,000 a year... can that be called progress? Wouldn't that be a good thing?
  14. "Hmmm I'm a week away from being drafted in the NFL and becoming an instant zillionaire. I should probably head to O street."
  15. I want him to win just so I can hear that acceptance speech. Lord knows that would be a doozy...
  16. Occasional Conference title, Rose Bowl and National title contention. Top Ten finish too. I'm not saying we have to have all of them all of the time but being in the mix each year should very well be the expectation. I'd say the 70s is probably the model to shoot for. 5 Conference titles, 2 National Titles, 1 Heisman, Top ten finishes every year.
  17. It's relatively obvious Papuchis is a glorified intern. I say make Terry Joseph Co Defensive Coordinator. This would be a nice way of bumping up his pay so we can keep him from looking elsewhere while.
  18. I'll bite O line gave T-Mart essentially no passing protection, the Cotton boy's completely unnecessary penalty, A-Rod's consecutive penalties and a handful of other false starts don't really reflect being "well coached" or "well disciplined."
  19. Perhaps now that Beck has established himself, T-mart has improved dramatically, and we now have awesome depth at RB, Bo be able to put more of his focus on the D. The Offense appears to be in (mostly) capable hands. This should let Bo be able to get back to focusing on shoring up the D, much like he did when he first got here. I think we graduate some talent, but also some liabilities on D. If it were up to me, the offense being the most potent it has been in a long time, I would like to think Bo's added focus and influence on the D could get them to be about as effective as the 2008 defense.
  20. I'd take Mark Cuban's word over Trump's.
  21. The standard excuse is Bo's first couple recruiting classes were lacking. Shouldn't matter. This was a defense chalk full of Seniors. There was more than enough time to coach up the guys we did have, snag some JUCO guys to help, and turn them into a respectable defense. This was unequivocally a coaching failure. I suppose the excuse next year will be, well, these guys are young - got to give them time to learn the defense. That could take years, if it happens at all. I agree entirely.
