  1. I think it's Diaco being Diaco. He's said off the wall stuff here, he did at UConn and ND as well. He is a really positive guy, but his defense has had some downright shameful performances so far.
  2. The market will determine the price. Of the hot coaches last season Fleck is getting 3.3 mil at Minnesota and Herman is getting 5.25 mil at Texas. Herman had many suitors including LSU. Coaching salaries aren't always about what someone "deserves" it's about what it takes to get them/keep them.
  3. I'm sure Mike Riley has no interest in this nor does it seem appropriate for us keep in the AD. If he wants to be an administrator it would be back home in Corvallis.
  4. Would rather see them find a way to keep the TEs off the field as much as possible and try to spread the defense out. The TEs aren't good blockers nor are they threats in the passing game. Them being on the field makes the offense easier to defend.
  5. Purdue straight sucks, and we'll probably lose to them.
  6. Campbell is my number 2 realistic hire right now. Love what he's doing at ISU.
  7. I'm a big fan of Frost, and I think the timing is right for him to come to Nebraska. We do have to at least entertain the notion that he may not be Tom Osborne/Urban Meyer. Playing vs the best can be humbling.
  8. Mike Gundy is a proven P5 coach. One of the better ones out there. I love the potential of Frost but it's a different animal having to play Ohio State, Michigan, PSU, Wisconsin etc. Having to compete with Urban Meyer is a tall task. Plenty of "hot" G5 coaches flame out when they get to the big time. Gundy wouldn't leave either, I agree there.
  9. Riley has flamed out quicker than expected allowing us to move on sooner.
  10. That's become tired on both sides, I agree.
  11. He's gone at 3-2 imo. Beating some lackeys from the BTW shouldn't be enough. 4-1 makes it interesting but no guarantees imo, especially if we get annihilated by PSU. I'll add that I think Riley wants this thing over as much as we do. He looks miserable. Just pay him to leave.
  12. I think search firms are generally used to find out who is interested in the job behind the scenes. Also gives both sides deniability. The University still makes the decision.
  13. I'm sure he had a list for WSU and will now have a different list for Nebraska. Tough to say how the search will go, but rarely is an AD given full autonomy on these things. Especially so this time bc of what happened with Eichorst. Moos seems pretty savvy. I think he'll get a lay of the land in the coming weeks and see what the money men and fans want in a hire. Who would be a popular hire (Frost). See who's interested and make a plan to go get the new coach.
  14. Can't take NFL performance as an equivalent to CFB performance. Dolphins fans are not fond of Nick Saban either. Don't think Chip's coming here anyway.
  15. None of them hurt. Illinois probably infuriated me the most
  16. That's the smart approach for them. Just keep being the school that ends up launching a coach's career. It's a good selling point for other future coaches.
  17. Yeah, I can't even get worked up anymore, just riding out the storm until the end of the season.
  18. If he went 5-0 down the stretch we shouldn't fire him. That ain't happening. Much better chance of going 0-5.
  19. I think Mike deserves to be fired any time but Moos' policy is likely the right one. I think firing a guy midseason in Y3 probably sends out the wrong message to potential future coaches. After the season is perfectly fair. Ideally I'd love to see Mike find a way to beat Iowa on Senior Day at the end of the year, giving him a chance to go out on a positive note while giving the team and fanbase a win over those turkeys.
  20. He's likely to be a hot commodity after the season, I think it might take around $4 million. Fleck was hired for 3.5 at Minnesota, Brohm for 3.3 at Purdue for example.
