  1. Gonna throw this out too. Illinois rolled out one of the most experienced teams in the NCAA with the most returning "super seniors" of any team. That matters. The "but it was still Illinois" rationale doesn't matter, because we aren't "still Nebraska." We can't just show up and beat lesser teams anymore. We have no psychological advantage that can get us a few extra points like we did over the Old Big 8 teams. In fact I'd say right now we are operating at a psychological deficit.
  2. It was intentionally called to stop NU's momentum. Just like the holding call on the same drive and most glaringly the roughing the passer call/ taunting.
  3. I mean, if we're going to spot them points anyway, might as well be at the beginning of the game.
  4. This!!! ×1000. Its almost like he is too mellow, can't "get the juices flowing," without the pressure of being behind. I knew someone like that in college. If they tried to work on a semester paper to get ahead, nothing seemed to click. Start on it 36 hours before the paper was due and he'd crank out a A+ paper in a couple hours flat.
  5. I said it before its not about the number of penalties called, but when the refs choose to call them... the bs roughing/ unsportsmanlike calls, and the pick play were both called specifically to stop Nebraska's momentum. Every review but one went against us as well. Messed up down and distance by the refs and time clock almost costing us a first half time out as well... also another team gets away without getting called once for holding against Nebraska.
  6. For what it's worth, I've been told the Illinois alumni game review letter called out this play specifically indicating they "got lucky, and got away with a gift from the refs," here. They know neither of those penalties should have been called.
  7. Afghanistan is a cluster. The pullout definately could have been done better. However 20 years of training and preparation should have been enough for the Afghani army to stand on their own two feet and fight for their freedom. We liberated them. They had their freedom, they didn't want it. I mean what the Afghanies did was the equivalent of Washington winning the at Yorktown just to let the last 3,000 British troops in America march back into New York (then the US capital) and take it without a shot fired the second the French sailed away. As we found out then, freedom isn't free, you gotta fight for it. Afghanistan chose not to. Whats remarkable to me is the same people who expect every poor person in the world to "stand on their own two feet and pull themselves up by their bootstraps," want to lay the blame all on the actions of Trump and Biden who co-ochestrated this pullout. And give the Afghanies a pass. This is no different than a parent cutting off aid to a codependent child and expecting them to survive. I feel bad for the loss of life. I fear for the innocent women and children whose lives will never be the same, but to the soldiers and men, allies of ours that refused to stand on their own and forfeited their freedoms without a fight, it is hard for me to generate sympathy.
  8. A freaking stop on 3rd and long would be nice...
  9. Haha... its not when you are making them, its all about when the ref chooses to call them.
  10. Maybe true. We have no idea how long this "investigation" has been going on behind the scenes. Also, doesn't mean Trev and the NU legal team didn't do their research and say. "Scott, most of these cases end in a short suspension. We're going to get ahead of this and you're going to preemptively sit this one out to stem additional punishment later." Like I said, pure speculation, probably not accurate, but....
  11. Probably reading into it. But a few times he said "I look forward to watching them play on Saturday." If the NCAA investigation has wrapped, maybe he just found out he is suspended for Saturdays game. Pure speculation but might explain the demeanor, other than being annoyed at the media and their tactics last week, which in itself would warrant the demeanor today.
  12. You misunderstand. Frost and Husker football is the hand that feeds Nebraska sportswriters. Not the otherwise around. Last week they all wanted to play the "gotcha" game with Frost. This week they wanted him to shower them with puppies and kittens so they could write all their game week stories. He didn't play along. I wouldn't have either.
  13. @ The media, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. After making 3 consecutive coaches loathe you, you would think you would have learned. But then I guess now you can write all the boo hoo, headcoach hates us stories we've seen in the past. Rinse and repeat.
  14. I bet you also are the guy who believed Solich needed to go because the program was trending down after Solich ran out of guys who were recruited by and played for Osborne.
  15. Smothers if he needs to drive. Haarberg if its a hail mary.
  16. In your list, at least Jurgens was a Frost recruit. Don't have enough time to check on the rest.
  17. For that matter all Frosts best players in year 1 and 2 were Pelini cruits or true freshmen.
  18. Why? It isnt anything new. The only thing we get is negative since Osborne left. The media digs up this crap to create outrage among fans. Callahan and his throat slash, hillbillies, sucking in general, Pelini and his blow up, Riley and being beyond terrible and celebrations after losing. The media pumps this stuff out like candy and those who want to be outraged eat it up like Crack. This isn't new and is in no way unique to Frost.
  19. I mean, if the storied rival hadn't canceled the rivalry 20+ years ago, maybe I'd care. For those of us under 40, we whopped Oklahoma in the early 90s just as bad as if they were Kansas and they cancelled the rivalry before they got good again. I honestly would be fine if we never played them again.
  20. Has nothing to do with the price packers are paying for the live animals. Price gouging by the packers to be sure.
  21. https://www.ketv.com/article/millard-closes-elementary-classroom-to-stop-spread-after-multiple-covid-19-cases-identified/37341600?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot How are any of these preventing spread... Lets wait until we have a major outbreak then shut down. Makes absolutely no sense and is endangering the lives of the kids.
  22. Again, equipment left for the Afghanistan army, not the Taliban.
