  1. My biggest complaint is it seems like they have to leave a cliff hanger every episode. Sometimes it is alright to let the audience think everything is fine before you crush their soul. That's a major complaint of mine as well. It's like they're trying too hard to be like other tv shows that have had great success with it (Sons of Anarchy). It depends on the show whether or not it works well and works well often. I think Walking dead is one where it would work well once in awhile, but like I said, I think they are trying too hard to do it every episode and missing out on opportunities to make the episodes better b/c of that.
  2. I was fairly underwhelmed with the first half. If it weren't for the last 2 episodes, it would have been the worst half of any season IMO. My roommate has read all the comics so I kind of know what's going on in them to compare to the show. I feel like there are a lot of things that could be done better to keep you more on the edge of your seat. The show hasn't been the same since they got rid of Frank Darabont (huge mistake). It has just become way too slow for me. However, until I feel like it's complete trash, I will continue to watch it. Especially since there's basically nothing else on TV on Sunday nights.
  3. Seemed to work pretty well for Saban...
  4. First off, Happy New year everyone. Second, as much as it pains me to say it, Manziel has earned my respect.

  5. For anyone who doesn't already know, Colorado has VERY strict laws regarding assault. My younger brother goes to school in Colorado and got into a fight about 18 months ago. It started off as a verbal altercation, until the other kid started pushing my brother and made it physical. My brother responded by one punching the kid in the face and breaking his jaw. My brother was doing nothing more than defending himself (and certainly wasn't trying to break the other kid's jaw) but because he broke it and the kid went to the hospital, the state forced the kid to press charges against my brother. My brother's mistake was throwing the first punch (which sounds like Alex's situation). It wasn't considered self defense for this reason. Long story short he was facing very serious Felony charges for this. He got 18 months prohbation and 120 hours of community service to get a deferred sentence, which he finally finishes next month. Since he hasn't got into any trouble since then, the whole thing is being wiped off his record when he's completed. My point is, it sounds like Alex is in a very similar situation as what happened to my brother and IMO, my brother didn't really do anything wrong. I probably would have done the exact same thing in his situation. Colorado acted like he's a serial killer or somethin though. Alex is probably a good kid and is getting the long, hard d of Colorado law to put some perspective on the situation.
  6. People are ridiculous. I'm as pissed as anybody about fantasy this year. I got screwed by injuries and extreme inconsistency in 2 leagues and yea i'm out a lot of money as well b/c of it. I'm not about to go making death threats to the players over FANTASY FOOTBALL though. It's supposed to be for fun. Really some people need to get a grip on reality and get some perspective. I can't fathom making death threats over stupid crap like this. Sadly, this is just one example but there is wayyy too much of this in today's society.
  7. A lot of the games he played in, he was playing hurt. Not exactly sure when the injury occurred but I'm pretty sure it was fairly early in the season. Makes it much harder to be a productive WR when you have a hammy injury.
  8. Just curious, do Canadians follow college football or are you more of an exception? Also, do Canadians perceive NU as a big time powerhouse?
  9. Just know in advance, if you don't already, it won't work well if there's a lot of light in the room. I was going to get a projector at one point but decided not to 1) because of the lighting issue and 2) because I found I could get a tv comparable in size, with a better picture for a better price.
  10. Lets hope not but it is possible. It could also be that Bo never wants to have to go through another year like 2012 with the d-line. Depth, depth and more depth.
  11. Guise I thought our recruiting was turrible. Everything seems so wrong now.

This is why you neither praise nor curse the recruiting class until signing day. None of these commits have made it to campus, either. We'll see who makes it before getting too excited.

But this is better than not getting these guys to publicly commit.

It's just an awful system IMO. Verbal commitments are absolutely worthless. You can change your mind a million times before signing day. That's got to make it so tough on coaches. Say you need two DT's. You get two good verbals at that position. They both change their mind on signing day. All the sudden, you're screwed.

Hey, great, important defensive line pickup. But it's not like we didn't see a decommit today too.

  12. That's one way to get yourself back in the news
  13. Yeah I am going to argue about whether if he is good or not because he is not. Oh yeah NFL teams are just going nuts of this guy that cant throw has great speed in the college game but so-so speed in the NFL!!! Give me a break I bet you thought Eric Crouch was going to be a hell of an NFL QB to!! He EC couldn't even win the starting QB job for a semi-pro team. What a joke statement If shoelace can get drafted, so can Martinez. Shoelace actually has lateral moves, speed and quickness... Martinez great straight line runner, but lateral movements, deception, shiftiness, etc- not so much. While that may be true, if you asked me which one I would take as my starting qb in college it would be Martinez without a doubt. Martinez may lack those qualities but he's still the better overall athlete, IMO.

  15. 2010 Washington, 2010 Kansas State, 2010 Missouri, 2010 Oklahoma State, 2011 Ohio State, 2011 Michigan State, 2011 Penn State, 2012 Wisconsin, 2012 Northwestern, 2012 Michigan and 2012 Michigan State disagree with your assessment that he almost always under performed. Please, if you go back and actually look at the box scores Martinez did jack in a lot of those games. If I recall, 2010 missouri was Helu's 300 yard rushing performance and a lot of these games you mention coincide with a huge performance from one of our backs or timely play by our defense. People seem to be real quick to forget games where he single handily threw us out of games by throwing horrible picks without a nebraska receiver within 5-10 yards of the ball. Not sure how confident I'd feel having him in there when he hasn't been able to suit up, much less run normally since September. By all means, debunk Landlord's list with stats to back up your claims. And please provide a list of games, with stats supporting your claim, that Taylor "single-handedly threw us out of games." You could cite 2011 Wisconsin and 2011 Michigan, but you'd also have to throw in (to meet your standard of how Taylor didn't help us win those games because another player's big performance coincided with the win) the defense's utter meltdowns in those games as well. Gladly, here's a link that breaks down his statistical performance against every team he played, scroll to the bottom, also provides info for home/road, conference records etc. http://www.sports-re...tinez-1/splits/ Very apparent he racked up the bulk of his stats against inferior competition (as do all players) but then dipped dramatically when facing opponents that did not consistently give up 80 yard runs right up the middle to him Interesting link but it really did nothing to back up your argument. In fact, it basically just disproves your argument. Look at his qb rating, the only teams it drops below 100 is against: Chatanooga, Michigan St., Oklahoma and Texas. It's not the end all gauge of qb performance but it gives a pretty quick picture that he must be AT LEAST decent when it's over 100 majority of the time. To the OP, like others have said, I would love for Martinez to get the start but that is only if he is 100% healthy.
  16. how is this a rivalry? yes, we hate them. but they pretty much owned us in the big 12. A matchup is not a rivalry simply because it becomes one-sided at some point. This is a rivalry. We both LOVE trying to beat each other. That's a load of B.S. Texas doesn't give a crap about Nebraska. I don't believe that one bit. They want to beat Nebraska very badly, Nebraska just has something to prove. So yes we do care more, but to say Texas wouldn't love to beat Nebraska is just ignorant.
  17. I'll definitely be curious to see who the universal scapegoat is next year. You know, other than the media. Do you honestly believe that the media hasn't just been pouring gasoline on this whole dumpster fire? I mean since you obviously think all they are is a scapegoat. They didn't necessarily start the fire but they've certainly been fueling it (insert Billy Joel reference here). I think in this country, we've created a boogeyman out of "the media", not just at the local level. As it related to Nebraska football, we've decided that all of our problems pertain to how "the media" handles and covers the program. Some folks think they are supposed to lob softball questions at Pelini and only write fluff pieces. If you want that, read the Nside blog or listen to Sports Nightly. If you can point out something that "the media" reported that is factually inaccurate, then maybe you have a point. But when "the media" writes an article that compiles or cites unfavorable (but true) statistics about the program, that isn't being unfair. That's called reporting. Do I always agree with the take home point of the articles? No, but that doesn't necessarily make the content inaccurate. I agree that Pelini doesn't have a good relationship with most of the local media, though the blame for that is at least 50% his own. If "the media" poured the gasoline, Bo lit the match. I get what you're saying and I don't think "the media" is reporting false information. The problem is they aren't reporting entirely factual information either. How many countless articles were written out of pure speculation on Bo's job status before and after the Iowa game? Did any of them think Bo had any chance at keeping his job? How many positive articles are written about Bo and the team? I'm struggling to really think of any since pre-season. I know it's more of difficult topic to write on when there's so many more negative things to write about than positive and negativity is what sells, but when all the media talks about is the negatives and never the positives, that's the only perception some people have. That's what I mean by they are only fueling the fire, but yes, I do agree, Bo did light the match.
  18. I would buy this if the coaches were pulling him out. I won't buy this because he is pulling himself out big difference. I do agree if we have the depth we need to use it for the long haul. They still shouldn't have to tap out as much as they do, and yes it could be as much mental as Physical (S&C) but one has a lot to do with the other also. Watch basically any football game - college or pro. Players take themselves out all the time. Especially RBs if they've had a big run or a couple carries in a row. They know the team is better off and they'll be better off in the long run if they come out for a couple plays then go back in. What bothers me most is it seems like certain players will just be starting to get into a rhythm and then they'll come out of the game (seems like this happens a lot with Ameer). To me it looks like it happens after a player on offense makes a big play and "sparks" the team, they immediately are on the sidelines after that majority of the time. Then, when they come back in, it's like the whole process starts over again. I'm fine with rotating players, I just think that we might see more continuity from series to series if they weren't coming in and out so much.

  20. Kind of seems like it was with the media first, which in turn made the fans lash out towards Bo for not handling things more "appropriately" or doing a better job of representing the university. Don't get me wrong, Bo has dug his own grave with the fans with audiogate and some of the other things he's said, but this whole "Bo Pelini is a big angry meanie" mentality has been perpetuated by the media. That's just it. "The fans" aren't lashing out at Bo. The vast, vast majority of us are behind him. He's our coach, our guy, and while he's here he gets our support. Those fans are with him today, through the A&M fiasco in 2009, the various incidents making local and national news throughout his career, even through the tape release earlier this year and the really bad day he had last Friday. The vocal fans who are truly against Bo are the minority, and lash out on social media. There are no boos in the stadium, no scorn heaped on him as he walks around town. I agree and I think this whole thing comes back to what Q was saying above, that the whole thing really is overblown. Just seems like the media is one of, if not, the biggest reason for that.
