  1. Michigan St must not be very good or Notre Dame is not that bad................ 29 TD's and 30 INT's.........wow, what a career! .500 QB for a .500 winning staff. Seems like it fits doesn't it?
  2. What I learned, today and continue to learn tonight is that compared to other teams, were not that good. Watching Iowa and Penn St, now thats Defense, on both sides! Barkley will just shred us when we play Penn St. Great back! Its hard not to be Negative Nancy when you see how other teams play football! For those above posters who think we have talent on defense, watch Penn ST and Iowa. For those who want to see speed on the field, watch OU and Baylor. Were light years away from being like any of those teams right now.
  3. We have hired ex-NFL rejects, ex-college flops with .500 records, and inexperienced coaching cheap hoping we would build on something there as well.
  4. Wow. Win is a win, but this Rutgers team is the worst team we have played. Defense is improving, but seriously, how can we tell for sure? Oregon called off the dogs, NIU was content with winning by a field goal, and ths Rutgers teams was as bad on offense as we have been at passing the ball to the team wearing RED
  5. OK, bend but don't break defense. Lets go get a stop when it matters. I know we up by 10, but I want to see this defense stand up. I dont care at this point what they have done or improved on, its time to shut them out. Show something here. This team gives me the heebie jeebies and I just want to see a win at home. Don't care about the rest of the season, just get a win for crying out loud.
  6. Lee is just terrible. Trips on hand offs, just isn't a good fit. Now, a fumble, time to pass!
  7. Thank you lord, Rutgers is the worst offense we have played all season, and we needed this one for moral. At least for a couple of weeks we needed this one!
  8. Lee still sucks. We keep playing him. Rutgers is not a good team. Repeat Rutgers offense is not very good. We need this win, but don't think all is well just yet. Arkansas St and NIU were better offensive teams than Rutgers. Our defense does look better, but Rutgers is one dimensional. We should get pressure on the QB. Go UCF! No matter what Frost does, he will be loved by some, and hated by others.
  9. Since Riley hires his own staff, names the starting QB, and oversees the program, hes gone.
  10. Did Michigan and Ohio St have there annual game moved around in the next Big 10 scheduling in 2020 or 2021? Were threatened to lose our Black Friday game. Watch a little closer. Things are skewed towards Michigan and Ohio St for football. Look at the scheduling in the past and now moving into the future. Its OK. That how most conferences are. Thats why they are called Power 5.
  11. Honestly, we are stuck in the 90's aren't we? That is the last thing we have to hang our hats on isn't it? Embrace it yet. So what if thats what it is. The more fans try to deny this fact, the more unrealistic we seem. Doesn't every program clamour for the good old days of winning titles? So what. Its true, we are stuck in the 90's. Chancellor said it yesterday as well. He would like to see this program look like it did in the 90's.
  12. I am not a debbiedowner, but what we see our program as and national perception is way different. Its going to take someone, a one of a kind like guy to come here and repair this program. Who is that guy? Beats me, but its more than likely someome that has a vested interest from the start. Either AD or HC. Were a spoiled rotten fan base. Expectations are almost over the top. Eichorst being removed is the start. Finding his replacement is key. If we get Trev, then I am pretty sure we head towards Frost as our next coach. I think we are going back to tradition. Restoring our program from the ground up once again. I think TO will offer that as his advice. We have tried nearly everything else and it hasn't worked out.
  13. This move was made to get an AD with some vision. Whether thats Trev or who ever, this allows that person to conduct a thorough search during the season, and once the regular season is over hire the RIGHT guy. Who knows right now who that guy is though. I believe that we do need some form of tradition restored. I think that can only happen with Huskers at the helm. Alberts and Frost. I think we bring in some other former players and coaches to get this thing rolling again. We have those players and ex-coaches that can revive this program and restore some order. Go get Turner back as our associate head coach. ETC.
  14. That is a tad bit misleading since Ohio ST and Michigan loser is eliminated from the Big 10 champ game. And if both lose, then we won't have a Top 10 recruiting team in the Conference title game. Like last year. However, one of those will get a shot at the playoffs in all likely hood. Aim high. We should be recruiting at a Top 15 level each season. Expectations shouldn't ever waiver from that.
  15. Talent =speed. We have no team speed on either defense or offense. I guess you can also say "want to" is also a factor. We are not that talented. Like I posted in an earlier post- I listened a recruiting guru say once on an interview that the biggest numbers to watch are those of the Top 15 in recruiting each year. Those numbers usually don't lie. Everything from 16 to 60 is a guessing game. In other words, prospects are just that. If your recruiting at a Top 15 ranking, you have more of a chance to hit on a recruit. When your recruiting in the mid to upper 20's and 30's, your chances of misrecruiting a player get higher. I think we have had several 4 star recruits never pan out. I think we have had ample 5 star guys that never could live up to that hype or even ever set foot on campus. It ok to admit that we haven't drew in the talent lately. Its OK to realize it all starts right there with winning. Callahan did recruit pretty well. Bo coached his players to great achievements. Once they left however, it has become what we have witnessed for the last 7 seasons. We don't recruit athletes anymore. We recruit to a position. Oklahoma(Bob Stoops) always has said, he will take 22 athletes and find them a position to play and win! I think this is what TO did as well.
  16. Osborne played for NC several times before winning one. Won Big 8 titles. Competed for Big 8 titles each year. Tom Osborne was as consistent as a coach as you will ever find.
  17. I can't believe so many are still hanging onto prospects of winning out or winning the West! Unless some others are watching a different team play on the field each Saturday, I don't see more than 3 more wins out there. This week we hardly have any of our skilled players on the field for the start. We should win Saturday regardless, but not feeling it right now. If we come out and put up 50 Im not sure Rutgers don't put up 51.
  18. The decision was made. Eichorst is out. Riley is next. Embarrassment must stop. The program is to prideful to keep getting on the walk of shame headlines. Lack of talent is glaring folks! The Big 10 season hasn't started yet and we are 1-2 already. Minnesota is improved. Northwestern is decent. Purdue is showing signs of competing. We were counting these game as wins in the preseason. I forgot about Illinois who won't lay down and die for us. Ohio ST, Penn St, Wisky, and Iowa are almost locks for losses. The administration recognizes how far the talent pool has dipped. You can see it on the field. Riley could do his best coaching of his life, and this team would be lucky to finish 6-6 based on what I have seen thus far.
  19. In my opinion, a search firm just validates who the administration wants. They will do the usual background checks, reference check, and line up interviews. The school knows who they want. The boosters have said who they want. These decisions are not that secretive. They will line up the usual suspects with EOE involved.
  20. Maybe this has been said already, but........Winning at a Texas based school, where you have more athletes per square mile than any other state is not that hard. You should have top notch programs in every sport. I will admit TCU has made some real progress in all areas, but they had a good football team with out the current AD. Undefeated seasons, big time players, etc. Gary Patterson is one hell of a coach.
  21. Exactly why if he wins and is bowl eligible with lesser players there, he could do wonders here. I think he could recruit to Nebraska. I think he could recruit from Florida to Nebraska. I think the time is now though if we want to get Frost. He will go elsewhere in time. That doesn't matter right now to me. The answer will come in who they decide is our next AD. If we go with in our roots and bring in Dave Rimington or Trev Alberts, I think that speak for itself. We will bring in Frost. If we bring in a top AD candiate with national known ties, that means we are going after someone with a national reputation.
  22. It really is a wash. Callahan brought in more NFL talent than Pelini did, but Bo coached Cally's players better than anything he ever recruited. Riley has the potential to go down as maybe the worst. Can't believe I just said that...........what is this world coming too! For all the crap Cally took, he did a better job of recruiting than I think either Pelini or Riley thus far has done. Bo when he started here was a better coach than the one he left here as. I always thought that was more about his lack of recruiting.
  23. They won 1 Big 10 title. Have never played for a national title since. I would say that they had some success, but overall they haven't been the same program since joining. In those years, Michigan and Ohio St were the only viable Big 10 teams. Thats when the Big 10 was irrelevant. For the record, there records in the first few years are eerily the same as our was........9-10 wins. Then you see the decline.
