  1. I'm not saying what Bo did was right with benching Taylor. I'm just saying, "You play to win the game" - Herm. You don't "play to hopefully win games next year". At the time, Bo felt that our best bet to win the game was Lee. My problem is you can really screw with a kids confidence if you pull him every time he struggles just a bit. Pick your QB, AND GO WITH HIM>
  2. Really, you'd rather lose games today in hopes of winning in the future? I'd fire any coach that did that. Unless we were already out of getting to a bowl.
  3. Texas ran for 209 yards against us. The MOST they have all season. Yes, it was a lot of Gilbert which was a new wrinkle, and yes we did not wrap up. But I definitely think running basicaly 7 dbs (David is 210 lbs, which is the size of a safety). Is a problem. I'm actually hoping Whaley & Martin just need to learn the D better and this is NOT what Bo thinks will work (because I don't think it does)*. If that is the case, I think yo usee Compton and David back there next week. * Ok, yes, I'm just a guy sitting at a computer and Bo is a multi-million dollar paid couch who is pretty much recognized as one of the best defensive minds in college football. So, this is a really stupid statement, but I still made it.
  4. We can definitely win the Big 12 North, and who knows what happens if we get to the CCG. My thoughts on keys: 1. We have to have an offense that is NOT just hope T-Mart breaks a long run. No other defense on our schedule has the team speed of Texas. However, I think the Texas game showed that the SDSU game might not have just been a fluke. 2. We have to figure out a way to play some LBs, 7 dbs just doesn't work (staring LBs were David (210) and Gomes (200), that is DB size). Losing Fisher and Compton hurt us more than we wanted to admit. Hopefully Compton gets in game shape soon. 3. The TEAM has to get its confidence back. I don't know but the team just seems to play like crap at home. Are they too hyped? Do we need to stop the tunnel walk? Maybe stop cheering? Hell, I'm willing to lose the sellout streak and have nobody show up to the game if that helps them (please note this is sarcasm).
  5. Well sir, I think you know that's not the case. NU left because the University couldn't get the business deal that it needed. And in this day and time, there's no shame in that. In fact, there's shame in staying. And thank you to the NU fans for once again being the classiest folks in college football. Bar none. Well, I know that, and you know that (and thank you for being a rational person that knows that as well). But I fear that is how it will be viewed. In my opinion, through all the "circus" that happened this summer ALL parties involved just tried to do what is best for their respective universities. That is what they are paid to do and that is what they did. It is just the media (well and some of us on the internet) that spun it to make it the circus it was.
  6. Please do not post on here any more. Do you follow college football at all? I hope you are a TROLL! TROLL TROLL TROLL please be a TROLL because that is just insane. Uh what? What was so offensive about his post that said troll? And more importantly, which part is untrue? Who here thinks that Iowa, Alabama, Ohio State, or even Oklahoma is going to have any problem handling Taylor? I picked the wrong metaphor, yes, because it conveys character traits Taylor doesn't have, but the facts are he's a redshirt frehsman who has made some pretty sloppy reads and got dominated in the run game by a defense with speed. Which, by the way, in itself wouldn't be bad except it happened once before already. I get the sense reality hasn't totally seeped in for everyone. Taylor isn't GREAT. He's not great YET. He may get that way, but this is his first big game, his first loss in college, and his first season ever under this much pressure. That's a lot to ask of someone of his age and experience. I agree with thisotally and completely. I think, upside, T-Magic has the most. I think he will be great. I guess I'm just asking are we playing for this year or next year? In my opinion (and I'm not a coach or at practices so my opinion doesn't mean jack sh*t) that given a a good D, a power running game using the RB's, with a little QB thrown in, and an experienced passer, gives us the best chance to win. That said, I'll root and cheer for whoever is behind center.
  7. Taylor. Taylor made all of the passes that Zac did, and because of Taylor's legs, there were guys running WIDE open down the field. Just couldn't catch the ball. I'm not sahying this loss is on Taylor. I'm also not saying that Taylor doesn't add another dimension to stop. All I'm saying is 2:00 minutes left, 80 yards to drive, against a GOOD D (OU, TX, AL). I'd rather have Lee (THIS YEAR, give Taylor another year and it won't even be a comparison). I think our offense is too one player dimensionsal with Taylor at QB (and I actually think it is MUCH MUCH MUCH more the play calling than the player).
  8. Fact is simple. When Taylor is in the game, the D will focus on stopping him. When Lee is in the game, they'll focus more on the RBs. Nobody is going to worry about the WRs much until they catch somthing (maybe they can catch a cold?). Do I think Lee is better than Taylor, no not really. I do think in the big games Lee looks more composed. Also, I think with Lee in the game, they have to look at more options, which is opening up more options. If we just USED more options when Taylor was in the game we might be better off. Lee will NEVER break an 80 yd TD run. He won't even throw more 80 yd TD passes than Taylor. But, if I had to drive the ball 80 yds down the field against a GOOD defense, I'd rather have Lee than Taylor. Who'd you rather have?
  9. I'm done, I think the university should just scrap football altogether. In fact, I think we should not have any sports whatsoever. It is just unfair to us fans when we lose. So, let's get rid of all of them.
  10. I know I will be in the vast minority because T-Mac is a great athelete. But, I'd rather have Lee. T-Mac imho needs some time to get used to the speed of the "real" college game first. PS - I DO NOT blame this loss on Martinez. This was a truly TEAM loss (ok I blame the WR's and one in particular more, but that does no good). I just think Martinez needs some more seasoning. He will BE GREAT.
  11. I don't really care if we win the north, unless we get to play Texas in the Championship Game. I hate to say this, but I'm there biggest fan (and cheering against OU) the rest of the season.
  12. The fact is, we will FOREVER be known as the team that left the Big 12 because we couldn't beat Texas (unless we happen to meet them in the CCG, there is hope).
  13. About all we learned is that Bo & Wats want a balanced offense and our defense has some issues to fix. It's easy to run and pass against a team that is defintely hurting at this point (as can be seen by their 20 straight losses). But they will win this year, they have heart. We'll learn a little more next week. More on defense than offense. We'll learn a little more the week after that. How much, I don't know yet. Really, we won't know much until the preseason is over and get into conference play. I'm tired of all the hype at this point. Yes, after our Sunbelt conference championship last year, we all thought we were world beaters. Our defense was, our offense wasn't. That has absolutely no bearing on this year. We will learn a little more with each opponent we face. That's pretty much the way it works every year.
  14. dang you are quick!!! or is it the on-line delay?
  15. do any of you find yourself cheering for Big 10 teams? I do. But I was torn in the MU, IL game, because I still want MU undefeated when we kick their ass.
  16. If Wisconsin were visiting us, I'd say wear Red. WI can wear something different. Since we are visiting them, nobody will be able to tell how well we traveled to the game. I know, everyone is always against wearing black, and count me in, especially for home games (it is the SEA OF RED). But, if we don't wear a different color, nobody will be able te tell how well we traveled to WI. Not a big deal, just a little disappointing for our first Big 10 game.
  17. He was meaning only Michigan & OSU. I think our rivalry to start is Michigan and Penn State. They are made on the field, and those are the most recent "tiffs" (mainly due to contested MNCs). IA will be a rival, but it must be forged on the field first, and I can't remember any big games with them.
  18. I definitely respect your opinion because it is your rivalry. And that being said, no Nebraska fans can't really say one way or another on what should have happened to this rivalry. But to say we can't understand????? We probably are one of the few fanbases in the nation who can understand as we had our rivalry completely stripped of us (thanks Texas, and OU for agreeing to it). Outside of the loss to Miami in the Orange Bowl, it was one of the saddest days of my life as a Husker fan knowing we wouldn't be playing Oklahoma each year the day after Thanksgiving, and being stuck with Colorado instead.
  19. Yes. And I hope he's there at least one more year. :devil do you think with him coaching we have a chance to roll up more points (84) or yards (790) on them then we did in '83?
  20. i completely agree. they cannot play twice a year, that would be horrible. it cheapens the rivalry and then if they split the games, the first game does not matter, only the championship would matter. I disagree, but just for personal reasons. I would have much rather played OU as a cross-over game to make sure the rivalry continued on the off chance we play them twice instead of the way it worked out. EDIT - and the only way to put them in the same division is to completely screw penn state and put them in the "west" or put MU, OSU, PSU in the same division which pretty much stated was not going to happen from the get go by Delany.
  21. I like it. And on the cross-over games, I think there will ultimately be two (when we go to a 9 game conference schedule in 2015 but they could potentially start next year). My guess is our cross-over games will end up being PSU and WI. Looking at the rankings (AP) this year, we would definitely play #9 IA, #12 WI, #19 PSU, and then potentially #2 OSU in the conference championship. MUCH TOUGHER than, #5 TX, twice or them and #7 OU if we go to the CCG. If only one cross-over, I'm expecting WI, with PSU's cross-over being MSU (a somewhat manufactured rivalry) due partially to geography and partially because if I was a WI fan, I'd much rather play NE than either IA or MN.
  22. Sorry if everything I posted is just a repeat of early statements. I tried to read the whole thread, but may have missed some items.
  23. My 2 cents worth. First, either Zac Lee feels pretty confident he'll end up starting or the surgery didn't take. Otherwise, I would fully expect him to have transferred to an FCS school before now. I'm going to go with the former (he expects to be "The Guy"). His dad was a pro, I think (and more importantly I think he thinks) he potentially has pro potential (probably a perennial backup, but still in the league), and your not going to get a shot unless your the starter in college (unless you play for USC). Enough FCS players now get their shot if they put up huge numbers. That being said, with the type of offense Wats & Bo want to run, the number 2 guy has to be ready at a moments notice to run with the one's, especially if you are trying to make a championship run (which I think Bo fully is expecting to do this year). You don't want to HAVE to play someone who is injured like Lee was last year. My guess is neither T-Magic or Green have really differentiated themselves from each other. So this really is a battle for number 2. Why then not name Lee the starter? First, given that your backup potentially needs to be as good as your starter, you want to get both (but in this case all three) reps with the ones. Next, I think Bo fully intends to give them fairly equal time in these first two games. He wants to see T-Magic & C.Green under firem and even Lee to see if he is fully recovered. I really think that Lee will be the full-time starter come Washington. Otherwise, you would actually want to name Green or Martinez the starters as early as possible. Why? Given their inexperience, you want them to have as many reps with the ones as humanly possible. Addition -- Also, I believe they are all getting equal reps. If not, players would notice, and the "pseudo" #1 would have leaked by now.
