  1. Haarberg sucks as a div 1 qb. The ONLY silver lining I see is that Rhule/Satt are the first coaches since the coaching carousel started that are not trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Would tack it up to solid coaching were it not also said coaches fault our qb/wr issues are so dire.
  2. If only they had done a few more toe reaches in August....
  3. Somebody just buy the man some vapes for the love of god.
  4. Even tougher when you start with Fumblelina at the helm at QB.
  5. We haven't been good for 20 years and we still show up every week. It's easy to believe the whole, "greatest fans" thing because it's true. That's why it's easy to believe it.
  6. These guys don't come here unless you hire the big name, and certainly not to fill your 4 deep in 2023.
  7. He has been lights out with the WR so far so makes sense to promote.
  8. I didn’t think Haarberg looked bad at all given the situation he was thrown into. Give him the keys in practice for the next few weeks and let him learn on the job against a couple easier matchups. Pray he at least knows how to receive a snap. Even if he’s as rough as Sims, Rhule can’t continue to forsake the rest of the team by trotting a broken QB out there. You also can’t risk letting Sims ruin himself. Give him a break, let him reset. Likely we will need him later this year. Let him come back without expectations. It’s the only hope with him at this point I fear.
  9. I learned Nebraska fans are the unrealistic zealots we’ve been painted as for 50 years. We are just a proud base that loves football and wants to see it played well. Look no further than the huge pride and support given to the defense in the past two games. Newsflash, there are no world beaters in that defense, (although Lenhartd going to be one), and they really haven’t done anything exceptional, but they play smart, sound, and with heart and we eat it up. They are coached smart, sound, and to play with heart and we eat it up. The problem is we haven’t seen an offense to match that in 15 years. The problem is that nothing there looks to be any better this year.
  10. What I can’t seem to understand is how it seem like 40% of our recruiting classes over the last four years were wide receivers. Then we brought in the wide receiver guru to coach them. How is our wide receiver room, so damn devoid of talent?
  11. Like, ready for next week against CU?
  12. The only thing so far about the Rhule vs Deion debate that resonates deeper than it should for me is the OLine BS. I’ve patiently listened for YEARS about how you can’t rebuild one in less than 143 seasons or whatever the hell the frustrating number is. Yet I watch the CU protection and was jealous. It may have been a sub par d-line, sure. But damn. If it truly can be done that well in 6 months. I don’t know how to go on watching the cess we put on the field in the front 5 year in and year out.
  13. What I mostly learned was there were at least 5 different people that can take direct blame for that loss. Sims, Grant, Gifford, Hartzog and Satterfield. For me, it obviously feels like more of the same, but I guess there is hope that a new coach will actually take the measures needed to address the problems. I don't have issue rolling out there beginning of season with what you feel is your best unit/staff/approach. What I will get upset about is if measures are not taken to attempt to address things. Bad news, as we all know. When your QB looks as far behind in so many things that make a QB great, likely not an easy fix there. Ideally we would have a serviceable backup, but that has not been the Nebraska way for quite awhile. Hopefully Satterfield is sent packing if he keeps letting the boys down at crucial times. Hopefully Riaola is sent packing if all we can continue to say about the O-Line is that they like each other, ETC. Tough for me to come into the season saying could be a mess, lets let it play out and try to enjoy whatever comes, and then get pissed that we didn't come out as world beaters game 1. There are plenty of deficiencies out there on the field, and the problem with playing the long grind game with a sub par team is that you can't blow the win open as you don't have the horses to do so. Sure tough to justify outrage when its as plain as day we are too weak in too many areas to expect wins all over the place.
  14. Honestly, you have to consider if you could get the right people backing a number of women's sport could they be much more popular? We've seen Serena Williams attract a lot of attention to tennis. We've seen Shari Richardson draw the eye to women's track. We KNOW volleyball can be profitable. I'd bet women's basketball would have a place too as people do not love the 2 step dunkathon that the NBA has become. Not to get on a soapbox, but women's sports are not lower quality, its just they haven't been allowed to shine because the people in charge are so in deep with the men's options. That said, people like to follow winners and quality competition, it doesn't really matter what's between the legs.
  15. Thought the shuttle system was incredible and very efficient. Honestly, we use it all of the time for football games and last night was 1000x better in terms of professionalism, quality of busses and customer service. If you don't attend many football games I think it would be hard to see how impossible it is to get 90K people packed into and out of the same city block for a 3 hour event. Honestly, I would advise the university to copy this blueprint for all large events at Memorial. The no cost shuttle appeared to encourage a significant number of people to opt in utilizing it which significantly cut down on the horrible traffic/pedestrian flow into and out of the area. Obviously, those costs would need to be recouped somewhere else but the reason there were lines to get to the shuttle is because so many people were happy to use them. Again, if you've ever gotten out of a packed house nailbiter football game after the 4th quarter in under and hour I'd be surprised.
  16. Gotta do something for income while you’re waiting on those sweet, sweet NIL deals to roll in. Hopefully some great ones can come his way now.
  17. Was booked for Nashville mid September. Super sad this didn't work out. Would love to know more details.
  18. My contention is that he took over a program at the very top while the main rivals were down a bit, which made up for some of his deficiencies but he is slowly losing ground each year and will continue to do so. Urban momentum will run out much like Osborne momentum ran out for Frank. Day is in a populous area with much better access to talent than Frank had, and Day also does actually recruit, which Frank never did very well, so the slow down will take a bit longer, but I think it will happen because I don't think that Day is a great football mind and his advantages will continue to dwindle.
  19. He inherited a roster second, at the time, ONLY to Bama. As stands, he is failing to maintain that position and now PSU and Michigan are back to life. NIL is in its infancy and the transfer portal will only hurt schools like OSU in maintaining an lock grip/stockpile on hoarding all of the best athletes across the country.. So, from there it starts to boil down to coaching chops, and I don't think Day brings anything exceptional to the table in that regard. In fact, I'd argue that stupid PJ packs a more powerful coaching punch, although real athletes won't buy into that guys' schtick. Day will lead a slow decline over the next 3-5 years and somebody will fine a reason to justify a move along situation. Glad we have Rhule. Guy seems like, at the very least, he's a well organized cerebral coach. I'd take him over Day any day.
  20. Day isn't the guy. Day is Solich but in a better recruiting location. OSU won't stand for less than great any more than NU was willing to.
  21. Until this year I probably would not have been very understanding of this situation, but I have a kid that, over the course of a few years, went from loving a sport, then began to barely like it, then started to hate it 1/4 of the way into this past season, so now I get it. Nothing is worse than an athlete out there trying to fake that they care. My kid truly tried to handle business on the field, and did ok at it, but the passion was not there anymore and its just a waste of time at that point. We made the decision to hang up the uniform because it isn't fair to everybody else on team to only partially be "in." I can't hate on Betts for making the same choice.
