  1. Well, this might not be as bad as it seems. Kansas tried something similar when they Tony Hull who was a big time coach in Louisiana to help them build a pipeline. It appears that thus far it's paid ok dividends as they were able to snag Mike Lee who is a really solid DB. I do remember that they had a rush of guys commit from LA but it appears that most of them backed off. As a couple of other folks have mentioned, on the field production still matters quite a bit.
  2. I think POB gets the nod. His build to me suggest that he would be far sturdier in the QB run game than say a Gebbia. I personally like POB's deep ball a little more than Gebbia as it seems like POB's motion doesn't require the 'max effort load up' that Gebbia's does and I think POB's has a stronger arm which will help on the deep shots. That being said, I'm excited that for the first time in what...a decade? Nebraska will have a legit QB competition for the top spot.
  3. I know your comment is made in jest but if I got something tangible for my subscription (for the sake of argument a copy of Henry Cordes book on Tom Osborne) I'd probably be more apt to pay it. NET does this a lot when they're making their pledge drive, they'll offer something usually related to Nebraska football.
  4. MTSU losing last night is no bueno for NU's very slim hopes.
  5. I despise the concept of crowdfunding except when it comes to natural disasters and catastrophic unplanned illness, etc. I feel terrible that your Lab is sick or your Corgi needs ACL surgery, guess what? Work extra and/or buy pet insurance. Pets aren't robots, they get sick/hurt sometimes which requires money. Don't even get me started on the concept of crowdfunding education or weddings.
  6. Man, tell me about it. I'm about to embark on 4 seasons of loneliness.
  7. This dude's favorite song has to be Motownphilly. Just has to be.
  8. Fwiw this is what Iowa did for the NIT last year. Looks like ordering from the school directly might be your best bet. From doing some quick research on Iowa and Creighton's NIT games it appears tickets will probably be in the $20-$30 range. http://qctimes.com/sports/basketball/college/big-10/iowa/tickets-on-sale-for-iowa-south-dakota-in-nit/article_b60ad354-f151-5b48-93d9-7c083d1a372f.html
  9. Have to imagine it helps to a small extent that St. Mary's got beat by BYU in the WCC semis.
  10. Agreed. Sherman being 6'3 to boot certainly helped. That being said, he still didn't get drafted until the 5th round. Seattle was on the forefront of the 'tall corner' movement. I'd be curious to see where Sherman would get drafted if he were coming out this year.
  11. Per the Huskeronline podcast Piper broke the squad record held by Kevin Raemakers of 550(!) pounds.
  12. Agree with you there. I have zero qualms paying a subscription for the OWH as I still enjoy the process of physically reading the paper. Where I take issue is when I need to pay extra to read content that is created by OWH writers that should be in the paper.
  13. Future looks really bright. No shame in a top 5 conference finish when 7 of your 10 starters are Sophomores or younger.
  14. Would +2 if possible. Well said @VectorVictor
  15. Just wagered an uncomfortable amount of money on NU +4.5 and a slightly less amount on NU +170.
  16. This makes a ton of sense and will be interesting to see if it sticks into fall practice. I don't have the article handy but I remember Farmer saying something to the effect that he struggled and didn't feel 100% when he was bulked up so much and wrestling helped him shed some bad weight. You don't necessarily need a giant dude at center to be successful...see Mike Caputo. Mike Caputo was a pretty good one as well. Former walk on too fwiw.
  17. I fully understand the nature of off season message boards but man, we need to pump the brakes on Adrian Martinez, dude didn't even play his Sr year of high school. Let's see how things at least shake out in spring ball.
  18. Good stuff HC_Coach_C. Thanks for posting up.
  19. The second game against Oregon State will be a good early season barometer in my opinion, hopefully Luis gets the ball as that will game him a taste of the level of intensity he's going to face as the Friday night guy. I didn't even bother checking the game yesterday since OSU with Heimlich on the mound is straight filthy. I agree the offense needs to take a step up. Schreiber came back for a 'prove it' year and he needs to be the driver offensively.
  20. I believe kids are able to sign LOIs with both JUCOs and FBS/FCS programs. They're two different athletic organizations so I can see a LOI not being binding.
  21. That is pure insanity to me. I agree with a couple other posters that the market will plummet here in a few months, maybe not to face value territory but pretty close. But hey, I'm never one to tell people how to spend their money.
  22. Compared to Dallas where BigD is from. Yeah, Kearney is a speck.
  23. It's hard to see a scenario outside of injury where Burrow is able to beat out Haskins. Haskins seems to be the heir apparent and looked pretty darn good in limited action. Please excuse me while I go throw my bad cooking knives at my Tim Beck poster.
