  1. Dorky? You bet. That being said, Heupel was an absolute beast in college and should have instant cred with any recruits he talks to. I think UCF is in really good hands. I guess if anyone gives him guff he can also go through his list of college accolades: Awards Consensus All-American (2000) AP Player of the Year (2000) Walter Camp Award (2000) Archie Griffin Award (2000) Harley Award Winner (2000) Quarterback of the Year (2000
  2. Frost rolling in with his staff like.... Clean sweep!
  3. I would venture a small turboprop private plane with a recruiting assistant driving him around.
  4. Dude has been grindingggggggggggggggggggg on the road. Live look at the backseat of Coach Held's rental car
  5. Yeah...I really only have a periphery interest in Nebraska basketball (hope they do well, will maybe watch 1-2 games/yr) as I'm much more interested in the Nebraska wrestling team. I just happened to watch Pacific Rim earlier that day and couldn't find a 'stop the clock' gif.
  6. I'm pretty excited because it appears that we're going to be installing an offense that is designed to rip apart defenses like Wisconsin. I didn't think Ohio State's WRs were unbelievable but they can fly and Ohio State was able to put them in space where they put incredible pressure all the time on Wisconsin. In watching UCF this year Frost's system appears to force the defense to be perfect on every single play otherwise it's a huge gain. If Nebraska can get the QB situation figured out and the WRs all stick (Morgan, JD, Tyjon, McQuitty) plus we hang on to Moore and Browne they are going to be absolutely lethal on the outside.
  7. I'm sure Brandon Peters is just thrilled with this news.
  8. I wonder if Oregon threw Chris Petersen say, $8mm/yr I wonder how that would shake out. I know Petersen really, really wanted the UO job after Kelly left.
  9. Haha +1 to you sir. I read the ASU press release and was dumbfounded at the language. It sounds exactly like a MLM scheme! Sumlin to Oregon makes a whole lotta sense to me and your comment about Sumlin slow playing UCF jives with that. I can't see a way that Chip Kelly goes back to Oregon.
  10. FIRE UP THE NEBRASKA IS DIRTY AF THREAD!!!! Jk gang. Jk.
  11. Good grief Williams looks like a grown a$$ man. Dude looks like he's 25!
  12. You are what your record says you are. Nebraska might not have 4-8 talent, but right now they are a 4-8 team. While I agree with you that the Big Ten West is the weakest P5 division, Nebraska has shown zero ability to beat the top teams in the division outside of NW over the past few years. It looks like you and I disagree on this particular point and that's totally cool.
  13. I really hope all the support people behind the scenes land on their feet specifically folks like McShane. I thought they did a really, really nice job with Nebraska's social media presence and hope there is a way for some (if not all) of them to be able to stay on staff. I know they don't make a tremendous amount of money and they darn sure don't get any 6 figure buyout packages to my knowledge.
  14. Sure thing, at UCF it was like the program fell through a trap door in 2015 when they went 0-12 as they went 12-1 in '13 and 9-4 in '14. When Frost took over he at least had some guys on the roster who had won at a high level in college. To use a MMA term, it's like UCF got flash KO'd in 2015 but they were able to bounce back quickly. With Frost taking over at Nebraska they've been getting beat on for the last 3 years under Riley. First year was gut punch after gut punch with the ways Nebraska was losing and it was year 1 after Pelini got fired who whether you love him or hate him at least had the team winning on a consistent basis. Year 2 you lose all your momentum after the UCLA win because of the SF27 tragedy. To Riley's credit, he did a masterful job holding the team together. Unfortunately, I thought the team just ran out of gas after the Wisconsin loss and Nebraska closed the season on a pretty negative note. Year 3, things are supposed to be looking up, Tanner Lee is looking great and we've got the best hair in the business as the new flashy D coordinator. Then the 1H of Oregon happens and we realize that we are completely, utterly screwed. Nebraska has slowly been sinking into mediocrity for a while so that's why I think Frost inherited a tough spot. Plus, if we're being completely honest, UCF is arguably the top dog in that conference with Houston. They have massive recruiting advantages over almost everyone else in their conference.
  15. I can't go with fluke. Vegas had the Nebraska win total at 6-6.5 before the season and Nebraska still failed to sniff that. Nebraska had a brand new QB and lost the majority of it's offensive skill players so I guess I wasn't shocked to see a struggle this year. The good news is for the folks thinking Nebraska will win 8+ is the win total will probably be in the 6-6.5 range again so start saving up your bucks and load up on the Skers win win totals get released next summer!
  16. You make some good points here. I have read Jon Gordon's book "The Energy Bus" and have seen him speak in person when my company flew him in. I don't think his message was anything earth shattering, just that positive thinking individuals tend to be more successful than negative folks and that you should aggressively root out negative from your life. Gordon has a cool life story and really seemed to do a 180 on his life.
  17. I caught a show on BTN a week or so ago that was talking about a time when Whisky went to the Rose Bowl in '93 under Alvarez and they played MSU in Japan of all places. The Wisconsin players were laughing about it because the game was supposed to serve as their bowl game since they weren't supposed to be very good that year.
  18. Yup, 100% concur with you there. Better to start fresh.
  19. That would make a lot of sense to me. Kudos to UCF's AD. Heupel did a masterful job turning Mizzou's offense around and it sounds like he got Randy Shannon as the DC who has a ton of ties to Florida. I thought Shannon did a nice job of instilling discipline when he was the HC at Miami and helped really clean the program up.
  20. If this happens I shall be forced to pick up the slack for my late grandfather (RIP) and butcher this poor kid's last name. LET'S GO MART-EN-EGGS
  21. Yup, CU had an almost 1 yard per play average over their opponent which is a pretty solid advantage. Leavitt did a really nice job out there and it's no surprise that after he left for Oregon they started to slide.
  22. Agreed. CU was really balanced that year on offense. RB had 1600 yards from scrimmage, 2 WRs had over 700 yards receiving and QB threw for 2k+ and ran for 600 plus they had +7 TO margin.
  23. Agreed. I think Neal Brown is a really good coach.
  24. Home game for Nebraska + 'rivalry spot'=3-4 points CU loses their best offensive player by far (Lindsay who was a lot of fun to watch)=1 point Coaching advantage=1.5 points That's an admittedly really simplistic way of looking at it but at least gives some insight as to why NU is favored. There are also a ton of other factors (NU should get a bump w/ Frost, CU has been trending down since Leavitt left as DC, etc).
