  1. The refs made some bad calls today. Turning a blind eye to cheap shots. They didn't cost us. BYU was the better team.
  2. We're not done. I saw a lot today that makes me excited to see where this team goes. Sure, I'm disappointed for a loss. But, this was a GOOD BYU team that went bowling last year and made Texas look ridiculous. I still am keeping my optimism for Riley. We're going to have to rebuild and get better each week. Our 2nd half adjustments gave me faith.
  3. So... are we to expect WR Jet sweeps from De'mornay Pierson El at times?
  4. Randy Gregory is in Randy Gregory's hands. For better or for worse.
  5. Abdullah will have a great career at Detroit. I see him as the Lions #1. He is what they wanted out of Bush all along. Joique Bell will continue to play 2nd fiddle. Abdullah will contribute a LOT to that offense. I expect to see Stafford to Abdullah passes on check downs often. Go AA!
  6. I can't help it, being born 1988 and experiencing the 90's like i did; I have to say that the men of the 90's teams... they are what Nebraska is. Frazier, Berringer, Green, Benning, Peter brothers, Wistrom, Taylor, Ellis, and many many more guys. Classic Nebraska as far back as I can remember; wasn't always about Tom, (albeit he was a HUGE part of us), but the walk on program he founded... and those that grew up in Nebraska, (Yep Me, I met Tom as an 8 year old. Prior to that I already planned and wanted nothing more than to play for him) and other states nearby... that wanted to bleed and live Husker greatness for Tom. I am not full of all the answers, I just have personal perspective. I just wish I was older than I was. I grew up promising myself id play for Tom.... then Solich... and we all know how that ended. Above all. GBR.!!!
  7. This was my thought too, coming off reading OP's post. While it is possible that my red tinted sunglasses are on full blast right now, but at the same time... this staff just makes me feel good.
  8. I can see it being a 3 back system to begin the season. Newby starting and getting 65% of snaps. Taylor with 20%. Cross with the last 15%; as a 3rd down RB... if he isn't placed at FB. Eventually it will be either all Newby/Taylor or Newby/Cross.
  9. Stupid. Was he supposed to just let the Raccoon bite his leg off?
  10. Ah ha! The much speculated Pelini Dog House! So, it did exist to some small extent! As far as a Real QB goes! Very exciting! Hope to see Stanton crush West Division dreams!
  11. I don't know about anyone else, but for some reason, my gut finds it a little disconcerting that we are, kind of, a NU/OSU program personnel merger at this point. Is this far from the norm? Where a coach brings in this many people from the same program? It strikes me as odd that he hasn't hired anyone outside of his comfort zone yet. I hope I'm wrong and that all these pieces will only make Riley and staff better.
  12. As a fan I want to see us win all our games. As a prediction, I think we can win at least 8 or 9 games. As a realist, I don't see us winning more than 6 games. Will I be upset if we win only 6? Maybe a little, but I will cut him slack for his first year. Will I expect us to win at least 9 in year 2? Definitely. Will I expect us to trend up every year and past 9? Absolutely. At the end of year 4, I would expect us to have already been in a CCG or won one. Maybe I am in the minority here?
  13. I've got to admit I am concerned. When our AD says "Resources are not an issue", he's practically saying "Go out and get the best names you can possibly get". I am disappointed this was seen as bring all your friends for a raise. If Orgeron is not contacted at the minimum there is a problem, in my opinion. This guy has openly said he is interested in NU. Orgeron would be an amazing get. I don't know anything about Banker, i'll admit, but I don't like what I see out of OSU's defense stats. I want to feel comfortable and settled with this hire. But, all I feel is caution and worry all over again.
  14. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Big 12 also award Missouri with a North Division trophy on top of this? I'm glad were not involved in that mess either.
  15. I was one who signed up after lurking for some time.. I hope to stick around
  16. That struck me as odd, too. You'd think he'd have a pretty full Rolodex by now. Yeah...I think he has been pretty isolated...but it still something that kind of bugs me a bit... 1. Really well respected but might not know a lot of guys 2. Might be bringing most/all of his old staff 3. Offense is a hodgepodge/multiple Not the end of the world but just things that kind of made me go "hmmmm" He's been here a single day folks. Give him some time....he's got plenty of it. Thats just it...he doesn't have plenty of time. He is starting recruiting today, he said...time is up. So he met with the interim head coach....and you think he should meet with the others before he gets started trying to salvage the recruiting class? Do you really want us to lose all our recruits? I can just see Barney trying to sweet talk his way into keeping a staff spot. I want to have faith Riley sees through that. I think he can save most of the class. Would love to keep Bussey at the least.
  17. He's got a good sense of humor. I like the guy. It's refreshing to have a HC who is comfy with presser questions. I hope he gets the assistants he needs. He does seem a bit overwhelmed, but I'm sure that changes. I guess open practices is "up in the air"; different circumstances at OSU vs DONU. I can understand that. His personality slightly reminds me of TO for some reason. Welcome to NU coach!
  18. I hope that Riley will give Frost a call. I hope he doesn't have only one name on his list. As long as it's Frost.
  19. I really like that there were at least some players that stuck around after the meeting to talk. I like that most of our big name guys are there. It tells me that they want to get to know him and have faith in him. I really do think they'll be able to rally behind him in time for fall to start.
