  1. 33 point win, go back to your bridge they are angry that it was "only" a 33 point win. they are those entitled Nebraska fans we always hear about. Is "go back to your bridge" a common saying on this board or something? Jesus, that's one of the most incredibly lame jabs I've ever seen LOL As for "entitlement," we'll see how you are feeling after we lose to Oregon and NW back-to-back. I'll be sure to bookmark this thread so that we can revisit then. Here's the quote. "Remotely gloomy"? How about usually excessively gloomy.
  2. Thanks, Bo. Rare thing to witness here - I agree with cm. We're on a good upswing, but we've got a long ways to go. The only part of this impressive by historical Nebraska standards was the MSU win, everything else is what we should be doing. Oregon still has sexy name recognition, but there's a good chance they don't finish ranked. UCLA was a lot like us vs Washington - they didn't want it nearly as much as we did and saw it as beneath them, to their detriment. Wins over Fresno and Wyoming are what they are, and the loss to Iowa...wait, I'm confused. Was Iowa a top 5 team or not? We can't credit them as that when it makes it sound good to us, and then talk about how they weren't that good when it makes them sound bad. One or the other, please. I'm excited and pleased and happy about where we're at. But it's entirely too premature to have any kind of discussion about being 'back' or having turned a corner. One of the dumbest things fans do (not talking Nebraska fans but in general) is when their team beats a decent team they talk about how overrated the team they beat was. Way to downplay the victory you just had. I didn't say they were overrated. I didn't even say that they were bad. But if you've watched Oregon this year, they aren't really good either. They have problems- among them being massive coaching staff turnover. This was still an important and good win. I wasn't aiming it at you or quoting you. I didn't say they were overrated either. I think there's a good chance this year's Oregon team ends the season unranked, and they are currently unranked. After the year is over, hypothetically, if they finish 8-4, are we still going to look back and give Riley credit for beating a "ranked non-conference opponent" when Pelini and Callahan didn't, even though by end of season they aren't a top 25 team? I'm not in any way trying to downplay the victory. It was one of the craziest environments I've been in at Memorial, and one of my top 3 favorite game experiences ever. All I'm trying to do is bring people back to earth a little bit who are trying to overplay the victory. Yes, because we need to be brought back to Earth after the last 15 years of being smacked in the face with reality. Let the kids have some fun ya old fuddy duddy.
  3. Agree but had to fify the date the downward trend began.
  4. ^^^This. These guys heads are in a much better place than with the previous yahoos, and after last season's shortcomings, I don't see any letdowns or trap games until possibly late in the season after they maybe get to 7-0 or 8-0 territory. You can't take anyone lightly who beat you last year and that covers a whole bunch of teams. Plus this team has shown the resolve to not quit. My gut tells me that when we lose this year it will be because we got beat not because we beat ourselves. I hope I'm right because that would be a huge change and a step in the right direction.
  5. JJ the heavy weighting was because of the number of Repubs in the primary, not because of any intent by the reporters. I suppose that was the impetus for that list of names. I didn't see when they released this graph but it does state the comments rated date back to 2007. Seems like a rather odd timeframe and then to use only 50 comments. My gut tells me it was engineered to get a desired result.
  6. Mark May has always been this way. I read somewhere that it is a congenital birth defect and that his brain is 25% the size of a normal human brain. Coupled with the fact the delivering doctor dropped him on his head, not once or twice but three times, well, this is what you get. Addel brained douchebag.
  7. I would agree that Trump seems to be more pathological and Hillary more contemplative with their lies. In fact, I doubt Trump even realizes he is telling lies most of the time. He seems to be well shielded from reality. To be honest, I don't know which would be worse as a WH occupant. I've just come to the conclusion that neither one has any business being there. I don't think HRC holding high government positions excuses her lies in any way. It makes them worse in my opinion. I've got a few pet peeves and liars are one of them.
  8. 2-1 again for week 3, 7-2 overall, +$480. Should've went with my gut on both Miami and CU. That Miami line just looked way too low, made me wonder what I was missing. And CU....well, I just can never trust them to not be CU. Oh well, I can live with the only loss being the Neb/Ore game not going over since we won.
  9. Couldn't agree more. I don't think I've ever been so happy to get a penalty ever. That really saved our behind.
  10. There were plenty of times where the 3 and 4 man rush flustered Prukop during the game. I think Banker did a good job a mixing rushes on Oregon today If we would've brought 5 or 6 more times, I think he would've been an absolute basket case. Seemed we missed the opportunity to really exploit him. I know you can't blitz every play but damn, whenever we did it seemed to go our way.
  11. It's also a little telling where their focus was in that sampling. 4 democrats and 16 republicans. I don't know crap about how biased Politifact may or may not be, I just absolutely hate reports like this. What's next, asking them if they still beat their wife? IMO, most of Trump's lies or false statements are made out of ignorance or bravado. Whereas HRC's are more genuine lies intended to cover her own ass. Trump's bullsh#t is pretty easily recognizable but hers are substantive and of a more critical nature i.e. made under oath or of matters where lives are on the line.
  12. That Larry Culpepper guy may know what he's talking about.

Just found out he is a Nebraska guy. Changes my opinion of why he picked us to make the playoff.

    2. NUance

      NUance

Well, he did invent the college football playoff.

We play that classic passive aggressive offense.

  13. I won't argue that most everything that comes out of Trump's mouth isn't usually some kind of falsehood BUT a graph like this is very subjective. They rated 50 comments from each of these people. Which 50? How were the comments selected? Any one of us could make this graph look anyway we wanted to. I could pick out 50 things HRC has said that were all lies or false. It's petty politics. Fact is, all politicians lie plenty and Trump and Clinton are two of the worst. Neither one is fit.
  14. Refs aren't going to call a perfect game. Sure they made some mistakes but it had no effect on the outcome of the game. The bad critical calls did not favor one team more than the other. I still maintain it was a better officiated game than most.
  15. Yeah, I can't believe nobody noticed that until it was too late. Why oh why do guys drop the ball like that so often. It's not like it's a burden to hold onto it a few more seconds.
  16. I didn't see anything questionable towards the end. They may have received one pretty tick tacky PI call early in the game but other than that it was well officiated. I saw quite a few holds they got away with and one blatant, critical PI call they were not flagged on. They've got nothing to complain about.
  17. It's so refreshing to see the coach remain calm and collected in critical situations. It's paying huge dividends with the players not giving up and keeping their composure. This team won't quit and that is a huge testament to the coaches. I'm not going to go overboard though, Langs and Banker have to get a bit better at recognizing what is working and go that direction a bit more. It was a great win but I felt it could've been a little surer thing with a tad more rushing and more blitzing. But maybe those things worked as well as they did because we didn't over utilize them...IDK. Maybe I'm just gun shy from previous years. Probably take a few more like this before I don't expect things to go wrong at the last minute.
  18. Almost forgot how nice it is to come out on the right side of a close game like that. Not sure my heart can take too many of these.

  19. I learned that Langs can call just enough runs to win a game. I learned Banker can bring just enough extra pressure to win a game. I learned that I still don't understand why both of them don't do more of those things. I learned that winning is possible when you don't kill yourself with penalties, turnovers, and bad clock management. Things are looking up. Good, much needed W.
  20. Words; We want to throw the ball. Actions; Must. Throw. Ball.
  21. Pretty sure Langs ran home for halftime....but he's back now.
  22. Turned out great but I am going to have a coronary if the plan is to have TA make more touch passes.
  23. What happened to "we want to run the ball"? Good plan Langs, try to get cute with TA slinging it. Wtf.
