Holy cow. There's a whole lotta football left to be played. This isn't the final four or top 25 yet. I guess people have to flip out over something. I'm going to wait and see what it looks like when it matters. Something tells me it will be lot less contentious when it comes down to it. There's maybe going to be one team with a legitimate gripe when it all shakes out. Not getting my panties in a bunch yet.

I don't understand the rush to jump in, change the subject from how this team has been playing to only addressing their record. I didn't say crap about their record being substandard although, now that you mention it, we would be undefeated if the team had played more than one slightly above average quarter vs MSU. See how that works? Play more complete games, win more games by more points, get ranked higher, control own destiny rather than needing boatloads of help, have better shot at playoffs, etc. Or we can simply talk about how 7-1 is good enough and pretend the play can't improve.

The Huskers are 7-1. That's better than good, and there is nothing bad to below average about it.Apples and oranges. I'm not complaining about our record. 7-1 is good but it is also largely a result of who we have played, not how well we have played. So, is it your position that we cannot play better or play more complete games? That is all I said. Bo Pelini, our head coach, happens to agree with me. Do you think this team is maxed out in the performance and execution arena?

I don't expect the Huskers, or any team, to dominate for 4 quarters. But surely we can expect more than average to good for two quarters coupled with bad to below average for the other two. I'm not willing to set the bar that low. We can and should be playing more complete games than we have been. It's not like our competition is making it impossible to do so. We're our own worst enemy in most all instances. I can handle close games or losing, if we're getting beat. Problem is most of the damage is self inflicted and that's a lot harder to accept.

What is different? 1- Turnovers have improved. 2- Special Teams play has improved, particularly punt return. 3- Seems to be better player leadership, especially at the key QB position. 4- We have had a "feel good" win with the Miami game this year. 5- DL play has greatly improved from previous years. What has stayed the same, or why things don't seem better? 1- With the exception of the Miami game, we still do not play all 4 quarters, typically good for about only 2 quarters. 2- The team starts slow and sluggish and major adjustments don't appear until the 2nd half. 3- The team came out flat and played 3 terrible quarters vs MSU, likely the biggest game of our regular season. Good or "special" teams don't crap the bed in their biggest game of the year. 4- We struggled with McNeese, an FCS opponent. 5- Other than the wins over Miami and FAU, the other wins have been pretty unimpressive and all could've/should've had a wider margin of victory and a more complete effort from beginning to end. 6- We lost our only game vs an opponent with a heartbeat, MSU. With the talent this team has there is no excuse for not winning this game. So, on one hand, things do appear to be different but, on the other hand, the results so far have been pretty ho hum and not really different at all considering the weakness of our schedule. I can't shake the feeling that the other shoe is soon to fall and we'll drop the usual couple of games that we shouldn't. I know exactly where you are coming from Count 'Bility.

Anybody that is not concerned about Wiscy needs their head examined. We will have to play solid in all facets for at least 3+ quarters to get out of Madison with a victory. When is the last time we've brought that much effort? Miami game is the answer. We sure CAN win but will we do what is required?

This is simply not true. You are the one exaggerating here. I'm not satisfied with sloppy playcalling, an obvious lack of an offensive gameplan or identity when it's apparent who the offense needs to revolve around, and players calling it a day in the FIRST half of a football game. Point out the posts that claim that the team made ONE mistake (cause that would be an imperfect game) and now we are doomed to lose 3 of our last 4. They don't exist. You're stirring up $hit and it gets old. This argument happens almost every week and it boils down to this. The team will never be perfect and some of us want to focus on all the positive, some focus on all the negative but most of us have no issue discussing both. The difference is the posters that start this bickering are the ones that don't want to hear anything bad about the team and I can't for the life of me understand how these people get anywhere in life living in their fantasy land of peaches and cream. I mean you go out of your way to make post after post about the attitude of other posters and it's borderline trollish behavior. It's over the top sarcasm and exaggeration. It's rude and damn it it's not proper internet etiquette. +100 Post of the day, week, and maybe the whole season. And it's not just the one you responded to, there is a small handful who do the same thing.

I'm supposed to be happy because we beat a terrible Rutgers team even though I saw all kinds of crap from our team that would get their assets beat by any team with a pulse. It is confusing because I have to basically lie to my common sense to think this team is going anywhere and there are people who are adamant about standing up for the mediocrity. I think I've just given up. I can't give enough squirts to even get riled up about it anymore. I feel sorry for you that your emotional well being hinges on football. Or at least thats what it looks like. More power to ya though. Have a nice rest of your day being upset. I'm not upset at all. Not sure why you think I am. We won the game, I'm glad for that. We played well at certain in some situations, I'm happy for that. We played poorly and lackluster at other times and that concerns me greatly if it occurs in future games and causes to lose what should be a cakewalk to the ccg. My emotional well being doesn't hinge on this team one iota Mr. Highhorse. If it did, I woulda slashed my wrists a long time ago. I do wish I cared as much as I used to but I just can't get that invested in them anymore. Been let down too many times. I'm just waiting for the let down to come all the while hoping it doesn't. Ah the life of a Husker fan these past 15 years.

I think it's amusing, the fans that tell other fans they can't be satisfied or unsatisfied. I'll be any damn thing I want to be. And overall today I am satisfied. Why? Because we won and showed plenty bright spots throughout the game. My feeling this way is a direct result of having lowered my expectations after (during) the MSU game. My gut tells me this team will screw up 1 or 2 more games this regular season, so from here on out, every win is reason to be happy. To tell the truth, I'd rather be expecting excellence but I think that is too much to ask of this staff. They are at the top of their ability eeking out wins against unranked teams. The pumpers have convinced me, expecting more is unreasonable.

The real benefit would be that the Big 12 has generally been awful at defense these past few years. I'm not sure they believe in playing defense, as a conference, anymore.

We SHOULDN'T lose 4 this year. If we do it will be nobody's fault except our own. If we can't run the table on the virtual cripple teams left, we don't deserve to go to Indy or anywhere else. Not that anybody cares but I think the team will find a way to lose two more. Since we have been fairly consistent at playing poorly for at least two quarters per game, I'm not sure that somehow magically stops. Hope I'm wrong but that is the heart, the head needs it proven on the field.
