  1. Without DPE heroics, it is not even a close game. Without Davisons miracle catch back in the day, we don't win a title. Don't remember anyone complaining about how that ended up. Seriously, football is a game of plays, some big, some not so big. I couldn't care less what made it a close game. Without a phenomenal catch by one of their receivers you could take away one of their scores too. So lets subtract any and all great plays, only count the average run of the mill plays, subtract corresponding scores resulting from those plays, and that's the real score. Um yeah, ok. Sure, that works for the final result of any single game. All the plays count, big, small, good, bad, average, whatever. It doesn't matter how you win, if you win. BUT the problem is you can't, or rather shouldn't, make a living winning games that way. It may be a fine line but having a good game plan- adjusting it as necessary, executing, and playing the game right is a much preferable way to win games IMO. Teams that leave it up to a few big plays, last second heroics, or the other team imploding would have a much lower success rate I would think. I think that is where the criticism of having to rely on those types of plays comes from- at least it is for me.
  2. THIS is why negative rep points should be brought back. Please?
  3. Arby's does NOT have the meats, you guys. Random fyi- The King's Hawaiian BBQ Brisket is no bueno.

The bbq brisket on the Carls Jr Texas big burger is soooo good but Arby's brisket tastes like ass.

  4. You chose to focus on the very least important thing. You're right, it doesn't really matter if it was "deserved" or not. But it is a sign of how we are likely to perform in future games. We have had seven years of shatting the bed in big games. This was simply the 2014 version 2.0 of the mounting evidence that we are continuing a trend instead of reversing one. Past results would indicate we likely have two or three more severe disappointments headed our way this season. To take away anything else from this game is to ignore reality and established tendencies. I understand that part of fandom is eternal optimism but overwhelming evidence to the contrary can't just be ignored.
  5. Unfortunately his Heisman run is over. No way this O line and this team do what is required for AA to stay in the hunt. It's a shame because he is the real deal and factors beyond his control will prevent it.
  6. Of course this is absolutely true and not exaggerated in the least. We have the reasonable cautiously optimistic smart people and then idiotic unreasonable jagoffs who actually care how the team performs on the field.
  7. I learned (after this game) that a bunch of Husker fans can't tell what really happened on the field, during the game and simply rely on the final score to tell them all they want to know. They see only a five point loss and it looks pretty good, if that's all the deeper you look. I guess these are the "at the end of the day" people. I never did care for that phrase. I like seeing how the result was obtained and it would be nice if that result was the result of being prepared, properly coached, and acting and playing like the team knew what the hell to do. I guess it makes for exciting games, where anything, no matter if it's deserved or not, is possible. I'd prefer a team that earns it for a full four quarters, not one that plays like ass for 3.5 quarters and then the other team takes their foot off our neck and makes it appear to be closer than it ever really was. The lack of quit in this team is an awesome thing but this loss is not an indicator of anything good. It is simply evidence that we were once again outclassed on a big stage. Luckily many around the country will only see the final score. It's sad that "knowledgeable" Husker fans who actually watched the ineptitude, use that score as some evidence that things are somehow different/better.
  8. When did that happen? Did we seriously punt from their 31?
  9. Learned this team is not above pooping the bed. Thought maybe that had changed, it hasn't. Learned that I can miss almost a full quarter (the 3rd) of a Husker game and it didn't bother me a bit. Took 51 years but I am now there. Seems like it could be freeing. Learned that I still care enough to watch to the end. Almost got interesting there but it also seemed so wrong. I mean really, we had no business being in that game at the end after how we played the first three. Still would've loved to see em pull it out though. Sparty better learn to finish games and we better learn to start them.
  10. It's fun watching a team that prepared for a big game, is well coached, and puts forth some effort. Too bad it's not my team. I am finally cured, you guys. I officially do not care. Ran out during 3rd quarter to pick up some mango hab wings.

I guess I don't know if MSU thought this a big game or not. Still refreshing to see a team take a game seriously. I mean the keystone cops bit is cute in small doses.......well no, no it isn't.

BTW, these mango hab wings are BOLD. Flavortown population me. Guy would be proud, lips are tingling.

  11. At Longmont high school for an all day JV volleyball tourney. Have run into two other red N wearing Husker fans. Can't decide if that's good or too few.

Went out to breakfast, saw a guy wearing a CU buffs sweatshirt, asked him who they had today. His answer; I don't know, got this shirt at Goodwill. True story-made my day. Haha.

Ha ha! Goodwill may be the best place to find CU clothing these days.

I don't think many people in CO care about CFB these days. CSU fans are pretty happy right now, but they don't seem bothered by Husker gear. CU fans are pretty non-existent.

  14. My daughters HS volleyball season cannot end soon enough. What a CF of girl drama and inept coaching.

  15. Well, maybe not......that's why we're playing it now.
  16. I KNOW 2 BADGER FANS PERSONALLY. ONE OF THEM I EVEN TRUST WITH MY INVESTMENTS. BOTH GOOD GUYS AND HUMBLE FANS. THATS MY EXPERIENCE ANYWAY. You are wrong and should be ashamed of yourself. Go cower in the corner.
  17. Maybe even approaching CU status. It's hard to compare though, CU fans disappear when they suck. Not sure one has been sighted in many yearsbut those damn Wiscy fans just keep blabbing.
  18. Just sayin- you seemed to escalate quickly there in your story recap. But I should give you the benefit of the doubt because Wiscy fans are aholes.
  19. BTW- All things being equal, Ameer would be first string at any school he played at. He IS the best RB in the country right now and likely would be no matter where he was. Gordon and Gurley are good, very good, but AA is a step ahead of them IMO. He has the speed, power, finesse, attitude, wiggle, and finishes runs. Those other guys don't have it all like Ameer does. I would take either or both of them for his backup though- they could split time with Imani and Newbs and Jordan and.....
  20. And you likely were the cause of a thread on a Wiscy board entitled "the Nebraska Fan=A**hole Theorum"
  21. An under guise you guys day? Nah, I don't like it, you guys.
  22. It's not a lack of respect. People think Michigan State is a better team because they are. You're getting a little ahead of yourself spanky. We will find out who the better team is on Saturday when they actually play each other. Rankings, stats, partial seasons, etc. don't mean jack. That is why teams actually have to suit up and play each other. You should know this. And, a brief history would indicate we are generally the better team anyway (7-1 record, with the 1 loss coming in a 5 turnover sh#tstorm of ball protection ineptitude). But, if you want to call MSU the better team, go right ahead. Just be ready to own it when the game is over. We haven't played the game yet. Until we do, they are a better team. A brief history would include last year's game, and a debate about the two before it mayyybe being considered. It wouldn't include games played in the 1920's and 90's because they couldn't be less relevant. There's a reason they are ranked higher than us and it's not because of brainless bias. Even if we come out and beat them 41-10 Saturday, the point is that we aren't being disrespected by the media. Michigan State is at home, which is an advantage, they've got a great quarterback, great receivers and backs, a great defense, and have been firing on pretty much all cylinders this season and for over a year now. I wouldn't say we are being disrespected by the media but we also are not getting much respect from them either. Given our recent history, I can't say I blame the pundits for not giving us a few more win picks than they have. It's the safe thing for them to do and it makes sense. But, having watched both teams play a lot this season, I'm just not seeing where MSU is clearly ahead of us in all facets as so many seem to think they are. Yeah, they've got some definite advantages in this game, I just believe that if we don't self destruct this game will not be the gauntlet so many are making it seem like.
  23. I'm trying to manage my expectations also but, I am just having trouble believing, on any level, that if we just take care of us we won't be fine. MSU is a very good team with a salty defense and likely the best offense (or at least one that will give us problems) we have seen so far this year BUT if we don't turnover the ball, if Beck doesn't go full head in ass when it gets tough, and if Bo & Paps bring some pressure on Cook, we will win this thing. I don't think we have to play perfect but we do have to severely limit turnovers, penalties, and bring a serious effort. We ARE the better team.......we just have to play like we are. That is the only question in my book; Do we play up to our capability or do we relive ghosts of previous big games?
