  1. I cannot think of one single potential bowl opponent that I would rather play and beat than Texass. That comes from a place of pure hatred and does not validate the notion that they are any kind of rival. They're simply spoon fed cheating scum that would be extremely enjoyable to dismantle and almost unbearable to lose to again. Bring em on.
  2. To some extent corporate sponsors have ruined the in stadium game day experience, and certainly not just at Nebraska. Virtually any venue you go to nowadays has incessant commercials and a sponsor for every little thing under the sun. It throws a blanket of cheapness and gimmickry over the whole experience. But I'm afraid it is with us to stay. They get way too much money thrown at them to ever give it up.
  3. It would be great if TM got the start or at least some meaningful play time to end his career here. If he's healthy enough and mobile, I've got to believe he would give us the best execution at that position, even having been sidelined for as long as he has. Of course with the caveat that Beck won't use him as primarily a pocket passer- we don't need to see that (Minnesota) again for any reason.
  4. Minus 10 degrees. I guess I'll need to grab a jacket, just in case.

  5. Unforgettable 2 and done run. Was it HoosierHusker? If I recall the guy he went after was HeyBakerMark.
  6. I really like the idea of using the Johnny Cash song. If not "God's Gonna Cut You Down", there are probably some other viable candidates that may be appropriate and unique.
  7. I don't mind them playing, in fact I definitely want them to, I just wish they more in sync with what is happening on the field. But that thing where they screech some flat note just to make noise, I sure wouldn't mind that being replaced with a short snippet of some various songs, like seems to happen at a lot of venues. Of course that would require a serious upgrade to the stadium sound system. If we just need to create decibels, adopt some sort of unique foghorn or steam whistle or jet engine noise. I think that is allowed as long as it's done between plays.
  8. Seriously though, how about the band plays less during the game? I like the traditional pregame band songs and they can do a halftime show, but do they really need to play that indiscernible screech between every freakin play? And they could play Hail Varsity and There Is No Place Like Nebraska about 75% less and we would still hear it plenty. Back in the day, they would only play like that after we scored or had a big stop or turnover on defense. Now it's like they're totally disassociated from what is transpiring on the field. It is rather annoying, on TV anyway.
  9. Lil Red could do that thing where he jumps up and down......on his head and then shakes and punches like there's somebody inside him trying to get out. Love that.
  10. I support the Huskers. I will still wear my Husker gear and cheer for them whenever they play. I will never threaten to denounce my fandom, even tough at times it can seem tempting. I do not foresee ever wanting to see the team lose to help him out the door (unlike towards the end of Clownahan). I will support Bo, to a certain extent, simply because he is our coach. But, when it comes to any opportunity to comment on my feelings about him remaining as our HC, I'm going to say exactly what I think and not much of that is good anymore. I have calmed down quite a bit since the Iowa game but I still have serious doubts if Bo will adapt and make the changes many want to see and that I believe are important. I hope he does and stays here for a long and successful career, I just cannot realistically see that being how it goes.
  11. I think the OP raised well intentioned concerns. There is a noticeable split between fans here on HB. It may not be black and white, lievers and leavers, but there is a definite disconnect between how people fall on either side with Pelini. That in itself constitutes at least some turmoil, so I do not feel use of that word was wrong at all. But, after all the Pelini threads, I doubt we here on HB are ever going to get beyond quips such as "oh great, another Pelini thread" or "get out of the 90's bud". It seems the further from center anyone is on the issue contributes greatly to their lack of understanding for any point from the other side. Kind of like our current day politics.

  13. Well then we can assume your dual cornea transplant was recently successful. No way you made it through this punting season without gouging them out once already.
  14. The coaching staff concern for punt returns was addressed at one of the Big Red breakfasts this past month. I don't remember which one off the top of my head. Hopefully that means they recognize it is a problem from strategy/planning all the way down to execution. Sure, everyone realizes the PR guy needs to catch the ball, but do the coaches realize pressuring the opposing kicker and maybe actually blocking a kick might help too? There were more than a couple punts we could've blocked this year and the rushers simply stopped short because that is what they have been taught. I hope they realize that thought process needs to change and that starts with the coaches and has nothing to do with player execution.
  15. I don't think that was the vain in which the question was asked. I would agree, I would like to see improvement in all those areas as well, but I took the question to mean, do you think we will actually see improvement in those areas? Unfortunately I could not check any but the last choice. I thought real hard about special teams improvement simply because it can't really get much worse so seems likely to improve, but with our current strategy of no punt block and no punt return, I think they are doing exactly what Bo wants and that he doesn't see it as the detriment I do. Bo does not strike me as the type to drastically, or even slightly, change anything. I've heard execute the process so many times from him that I think he continues to put it fully on player execution and will not re-evaluate what he has them doing or practicing. Hope I'm wrong and have to eat crow. I do think we'll see continued improvement in the D and I hope to God that the coaches dial up the pressure more often and do away with the patta-cake grab ass at the los.
  16. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm trying to get in a better mood here and I really had not realized that.....until now.
  17. i know. he has lost 4 game a year. so 'no more than 4' is equally accurate as 'at least 4'. really odd argument to make. and if your defense of bo hinges on a semantically nuance of the english language, well i do not even know what to say. You have to consider the other issues with which a Bo supporter might hinge their support. Then it makes more sense.
  18. I stand corrected. Technically at least 4 is correct since we have one more game to play. Only if we win our bowl game would no more than 4 be correct. Thanks to sdsker for setting me straight. +1
  19. Wtf? Both statements are correct. And quite the feat to accomplish six years running. If hadn't been for Minnesota and Iowa, the streak could have easily been broken.
  20. I thought RK III was on scholarahip this year and also that he will be ineligible next year. I get what you're saying but might need a better example. Edit- I hadn't read the 2nd paragraph when I originally responded. I do not agree with pulling schollies unless the player is acting counter to our best interests.
  21. has anyone ever read bo's contract? i am starting to think that he is contractually obligated to lose at least four games. if that is the case, i would say he chose pretty wisely. I would bet they could not find another coach who could assure such regularity. Surely there is not another that could lose four with this schedule. PeLLLLini is the proper spelling.
  22. It certainly was a gauntlet test for our boys this season. Throw in the brutal B1G conference games we had and it's easy to see why the powers that be wanted to lock up a similar performance for at least one more year.
  23. I guess I'm strongly of the opinion that players and coaches should stay away from twitter, message boards, facebook, social media if they are not mature enough to ignore the things that might bother them. It is one thing if some asshat "fan" tracks them down and targets a message at them (but that is a somewhat expected eventuality when a player uses twitter) and another thing completely if that coach/player comes on a public message board and happens to see something that offends them. If they go looking and find it, it is nobody's fault but their own and they need to be able to not let it bother them or they have no business stumbling around looking for it. Sorry GBredneck, I think you're about as wrong as can be on this issue and I would be very surprised if you weren't in an extreme minority on this.
  24. It's a public forum. You shouldn't say that stuff if there's even a possibility of them reading it. So, in your opinion, there is no place on HB for criticism of anything pertaining to coaches or players? It is more our (posters) responsibility to not post anything negative than it is for the players or coaches to not come looking for it here? You're sure entitled to that opinion but I think that is jacked up. That only leaves the possibility of praise and back slapping, one side of the equation. Hardly a glowing referral to come here and have any kind of meaningful discussion about what may be right or wrong, good or bad, about the state of Husker football. But, I actually think there are a fair number of posters who would agree with that approach. They are often referred to as sunshine pumpers and they seem to be the ones who get bent the most when anything negative is posted. Let me be clear, I do not want to be negative. I just think there are a plethora of viable opportunities when it comes to some areas of Pelini's coaching actions, results, history, or anticipated future. What are we going to discuss if it can only be sunshine and roses?
  25. I agree with this. If we're going to discuss the impact positivity and negativity have on the team, the impact of negativity FAR outweighs the impact of positivity. I agree that negativity, directed at the players or at the coaches, has far more impact than positivity. But, I have a serious question; Are we to treat posting here on HB as if everything/anything we post is intended directly at players and coaches? I understand that tweeting a player or otherwise directly contacting them with negative comments is crossing the line. I would never do that. But, should offering a critical opinion on HB be considered taboo as well? I've not had much good to say about the decision to retain Bo for another year or about the threats that some players would leave if Bo did. Some other posters have taken great offense to my comments. I guess I've always felt this was a proper venue to air concerns and opinions of this nature and that it was not intended for or directed at the players/coaches themselves. Wouldn't they need to go out of their way trying to find comments on HB to become upset with? Who does that responsibility and culpability fall on? Does the poster that called me an idiot because of it owe me an apology, or was I wrong to assume my opinions here should not be consumed directly by the players/coaches?
