  1. What are we looking at this guy as? If it's runningback that would be interesting because it seems as if we could be going after some better players with some success (Eno Benjamin) But, in Riley I trust.
  2. Seriously, some people can't remember what they ate for breakfast. This Husker team has faced more adversity than 99% of college teams this year, and WE have overcome that thus far to win every game. The trials this team has been through is what I place my confidence in these next 2 weeks
  3. The third down battle will be huge. I think if we can convert 40% or better we will be in a good position to win, but that is a tall task against these guys
  4. No, we're going to get some perspective and look at Wisconsin's game versus Georgia State...and understand that they aren't Effing barn burners and can be beat. It was 17-13 GA State in the 4th quarter. My argument wasn't that Wisconsin isn't beatable. I was arguing the B1G west is better than CM gives them credit for. yep the LSU win is a solid win for Wisconsin and the conference that continues to look better each week. That win doesn't affect if we can win this week or not, it's just a good win that shows the strength of our conference. I have nebraska winning 27-24 tomorrow
  5. And honestly you can't discount Wisconsins win. While they did fire Miles, LSU has only another loss at Auburn who is turned around this year. LSU is a very talented team who has a shot to still be in the playoffs if they can some how pull the upset next week The Big 10 has weaknesses but the top of the league is as good as any league in the country. I would argue the ACC may be the deepest conference but it's all pretty subjective until we get to the end.
  6. Based on what? Big 10 has done the best against the rest of the power 5
  7. Would Michigan have ever thought it was a rivalry if the record stayed around 30-14 (percentage-wise)? I kinda doubt it.No one's arguing this can't be the beginning of a future rivalry but we need to start winning against them more than 20% of the time for it to turn into that. Texas isn't a rival either. They didn't care about us. Their fans didn't care about us. One Wisconsin player doesn't convince me they care about us. Yes because it did. After the first 100 years in which they played 96 games, Michigan was 55-35-6 against tOSU. Ohio St. has controlled the last 15 years going 13-2 against Michigan. I don't agree there. When you have sample sizes of 50-100 games, this is a pretty big change. On top of that, games pre-1950 don't usually hold a lot of weight to people who weren't alive then. First 50 years: 30-12-4: Michigan win percentage = 65.2% Next 50 years: 25-23-2: Michigan win percentage = 50% First 100 years: 55-35-6: Michigan win percentage = 57.3% So the first 50 years don't count because it was lopsided and a lot of people today weren't alive during that time? Makes a lot of sense!!! I think the first 50 years were even enough Ohio State could get a taste of winning but built up alot of frustration losing more than they won, then the next 50 years they begin to be equals with Michigan making it more of a rivalry that meant something
  8. hearing that about Gates is great news if he is really recovering that well. Now if we can get some consistency with the interior guys we may be able to move the ball just enough.
  9. players will be cool and collected, Riley has created a calm confidence around the team this year. Never get too high or too low.
  10. That's what broke us last year (see the BYU game) and where we're making hay this year. and honestly 3rd down is more important than some of these other stats. I also like Riley's big 3 stats that win games in his opinion. We have been good in the big plays, turnovers and I can't remember the last one but these categories are usually indicative of wins or losses Points? penalties, turnovers and explosive plays. The penalties haven't been great but we have typically been good in the other two categories and I think we will continue to win if we continue to beat teams at these 3 things

  12. ESPN would lose their sh#t and Larry Culpepper would look like a prophet! oh no doubt the talking heads would be crying for Louisville.
  13. TA needs to stay mistake free but I think DPE will be an X factor. On defense I'd love to see Freedom make an impact
  14. I'm glad the o-line guys Gates and Knevel are back in practice what I'd like to know is are they practicing 75% and limping around or are they trending up to being at 90% plus for the game. It would be huge if they can be ready to go on Saturday. There was some video I saw yesterday on a tweet or somewhere that showed Gates in practice. Didn't seem to be obviously limping, etc, but it is obviously hard to tell in a five second video of him.... Let's just hope they are trending toward healthy. If they are I think we will be just fine Saturday!
  15. With a win and a Washington loss we could possibly move into the initial CFP top 4
  16. It's possible that it might be a bit of an understatement to just say that "...we're a little better." Our defense is significantly better. Hopefully so. I mean it looks significantly better, especially in the second half. But I still see very pedestrian quarterbacks being able to stand flat footed, scan the secondary and throw unhurried passes. And I worry what better quarterbacks will do against this same defense. I like that they make adjustments and finish strong. to be fair David Blough isn't pedestrian that guy is a baller even if the rest of the team is bad Um ....... he's #86 in the country in completion percentage and #88 in passer rating. I guess technically you could be right that he isn't pedestrian if you meant he is less than that. he is also on the worst teams in the Big 10. Things like that tend to make good players look less than stellar

  18. Win the turnover battle. We have lost far to many games giving them away. Let's take this one away like we have been most of the season. This is the main thing for me. I have faith we can find a way to win as long as we don't beat ourselves.
  19. That yard per attempt statistic really makes the completion percentage irrelevant. Tops in the Big 10 for sacks against and yards per throw is fantastic Though there is something to be said for consistently gaining yards (completing more passes) compared to getting chunk plays (what we do well)
  20. But you guys have to realize that just cuz he's better NOW than Cockrell was THEN, doesnt translate into he was better then than Cockrell was then. I know it's hard but fans should get past the whole knowing personell better than the coaches thing when we spend a tiny fraction of the time with the players and evaluating them as the coaches do. agreed. Playing well on special teams is a far cry from making reads and reacting to offenses correctly. It's one thing to be more athletic and another to watch and know the film but puthing them together can prove difficult and take some time. You can seem to have all of the tools but just don't do the right things but eventually the more reps you see a new muscle memory takes over
  21. I don't know. You might think you are all in for Iowa so you commit and then later on some things start to turn you off or something happens that make you start considering going to school elsewhere, so you want to go on a visit to just get all of the information, and because of that Iowa pulls your scholarship offer? That's a bit harsh for me. If you are confident in your program and recruiting, kids visiting other schools should be no big deal. I understand you should be fully committed when you make your decision, but stuff happens and these kids are just trying to make the most informed decision possible. Sometimes they think they have all of the information they need and then later on they realize they don't. No harm in that. But if that is how Iowa does it then have at it, we will take the ones who don't believe in the Hawkeye way
  22. They aren't really switching games from channel to channel, they just wait to assign the specific channel until the week before. For instance, if you look at the official schedule at http://www.huskers.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&SPID=22&SPSID=3&DB_OEM_ID=100 You can see that they have the Ohio St game listed as ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2. They just don't set the exact channel until the week of the game. The Wisconsin game had the game listing until it got set to ESPN with this announcement. The OSU/Nebraska game has been announced as the ABC game. https://twitter.com/OhioStAthletics/status/790594905705852928 If NU wins this week, it would probably be the ESPN Gameday site, too. EDIT: Even if NU doesn't win this week, there is only one other matchup of current top 25 teams on Nov. 4th (Alabama vs. LSU). Do we get shanked by gameday in favor of the Alabama LSU matchup if we win anyway? I highly doubt it but if we did some on this board would throw a fit lol
  23. to be fair Blough really did take advantage of those easy throws in the first half last week. I mean he hit 80%, that's crazy. But obviously Purdue can't do what those other teams can do on the ground either.
  24. I don't think he will come in and make a huge difference for our offense. He is extremely talented and a great WR but we are loaded at that position. Cethans return will be more noticeable as far as offensive production goes imo Having Westerkamp back at the slot receiver enables Reilly go back out wide. Reilly has been good in Jordan's absence, but he is better suited for an outside receiver position. oh definitely having Westy back is a great addition! Not only is he better on pass plays in slot he is a better blocker than Reilly I think so that helps but I don't think having him adds a huge amount to our pass game (it would if Tommy was more accurate but gotta take what we have) and he doesn't provide a big contribution to our run game where we have struggled so much. That being said I expect our offense to be slightly more effective with him back, to the point where we can score when we need to against a stout Wisconsin D
