  1. Huh, OSU coaches providing motivation for their players... what a concept.
  2. You literally described hiring Frost... He won a championship. He went undefeated. We got a ton of recruiting and media momentum, but that hasn't resulted in wins yet.
  3. We were going to lose at least 2 guys all along. You don't maintain a room that full. You make the room that full to identify your top 2-3, give those guys enough playing time to keep them, and let the others move along. I get you don't like Frost and want him gone but your takes...
  4. Different time and certainly different expectations out of the program.
  5. I am still on the IF we let Frost go boat. I think the next 3 games matter. But if we do move on... What is a "big get"? One the fans are excited about like Frost? Predicting how a coach will perform is challenging as hell. Looking around the country - I don't know many people that though Mel would have MSU in the top 5 or that chip Kelly would have a losing record in years 1, 2, 3, and maybe 4. How do you predict how a coach will do? Obviously some very high paid people across the country have no idea. That's why we see coaches get fired every year. I guess my point is, I would rather see us take less of a gamble going after a big name, splash hire, than I would see us go after someone who has proven time and again they can rebuild a program. One that I think we should consider who wouldn't likely fit the "big get" title would be Dave Clawson. He has proven he can take a down team and get them winning at each of his 4 stops. I also think he is a guy that would view the Nebraska job as very desirable. Job #1 1999 - 0-11 record 2002 - 10-3 record 2003 - 9-3 record Job #2 2004 - 3-8 record 2007 - 11-3 record Job #3 2009 - 7-6 record 2010 - 2-10 record 2013 - 10-3 record Job #4 2014 - 3-9 record 2015 - 3-9 record 2021 - 8-0 record so far
  6. Some solid insight about what happened in the past. Good read. Thanks for posting.
  7. I truly like college football and Nebraska is my team. I'll watch regardless of what happens or doesn't happen. It's still fun to me. I know that isn't the norm in this day and age so I do see the OPs point. If Frost is retained and he loses significant talent to the portal, it could be a really bad offseason. If he is retained and nobody bails, I would actually have quite a bit of hope as this would be a sign his guys aren't quitting on him. Maybe Frost and staff learn from mistakes and we improve? Unlikely but it could happen so I would be a fan and hope. If Frost is replaced, I'll jump right on the bandwagon and cheer for the next coach.
  8. Your gopher math is bad... 6 wins and 9 losses. You have WI at 1:1 with losses to PSU and MI.
  9. Turning down the bowl game bothered me as well. I honestly think it was done in an attempt to keep Robinson...then he left anyways.
  10. No snarky remarks necessary. I guarantee every Minnesota fan was pissed about it and worried about the season. They eventually got their stuff together and are playing good football now.
  11. I hadn't seen it yet- thanks for posting. For what it's worth, I'm not a fan of that guy.
  12. On that sir, you are wrong. If we were "no one else", this forum would cease to exist and few would care. Nebraska football will be great again and your defeatist attitude is not shared by the majority, thankfully.
  13. I can even understand Minnesota. They are playing pretty good football right now and we were a the end of a grueling run of games. Illinois and Purdue are the real head scratchers for me. Absolutely no reason we should have lost those games. I think everyone would feel a lot different sitting at 5-4 right now.
  14. You forgot to include your picture. Enjoy rowing your boat.
  15. The close losses to the top 10 teams is completely understandable. 8-4 or 7-5 would have sure been great this year.
  16. Assuming we win with one different play is assuming a lot. We have found ways to lose at the end even when we have a late lead. Our players truly know how to lose better than anyone I have ever seen. It would be amazing in many ways to see them turn that around these last 3 games.
  17. You make some valid points. However, the elephant in the room is we didn't lose the 6 games this year because of the 3 or 4 deficiencies you listed. We lost at least 4 of the 6 because one of our supposed to be solid players made crucial mistakes. It is a trend that can't be ignored. Our players don't have a winning mindset. You can call it motivation or focus or whatever... the mentality of this team is creating losses. That falls 100% on the teams leadership. As I said in another thread, I'm not sure if this staff is capable of fixing that.
  18. Good topic. I do agree that switching coaches has, to a degree, put us in this position. Digging deeper, I think switching coaches who run drastically different schemes has really been the issue. In a couple instances we hired people just to hire them instead of choosing what style of football we wanted to play. That resulted in a lot of "empty" rosters for the incoming coach. If we do indeed make a change, I really hope the new coach runs schemes that can utilize the current roster.
  19. I do agree with your talent take. Several people have "gotten better", if simply from an experience standpoint. Some players have obviously been developed. I don't really care for these development takes because there is so much that goes into what a guy looks like on game day. A player can be drastically improved but not show it completely for various reasons. Place that player in a different situation, on a different team, and they may look solid. I truly think we over think the performance we see on Saturday from an individual player standpoint. Nebraska is full of players that know what to do and how to do it. Nebraska is bad right now because it's players aren't receiving the right leadership. Scott and staff are afraid to fail and that is rubbing off on the team. Winning takes a belief, and the right mental attitude. Our players, and leaders, seem defeated the second anything doesn't go according to plan. That fear leads to continued mistakes where we lose games that we shouldn't - Illinois, Michigan State, Michigan, and Purdue are the worst examples. Our offense plays nervous... the same way their leader is coaching. Can that be fixed? At this point I'm afraid it can't without leadership changes.
  20. And there seriously should be a limit to the number of threads someone can start.
  21. The media's job is to get clicks- that's how they get paid. They need content that pulls on the populations emotions- it is nothing more than that.
  22. Our stats are fairly solid in most of the areas they need to be. However, it is the little details where we are off the map bad. There is a legitimate argument that this team is vastly improved. The guys saying the team is close are correct. However, I am really beginning to question if Frost and staff have the ability to fix the details. It honestly feels like we have a staff full of good assistants, Scott included, but no leader to put it all together. I still think Scott can save his job with a couple of wins but for the first time in 4 years I'm not convinced I want him to.
  23. Yant has really struggled in pass pro at times this year. He is improving and I honestly see him getting 40% or so of the carries going forward. Stepp? I wasn't impressed honestly so am glad the younger guys have beat him out for playing time.
  24. I see this as a 3+ score loss. Team moral stinks right now so unless they can rally around each other this week, I don't think this ends well.
