  1. Are you implying some of our assistants are domestic abusers or pedophiles? That's why they needed to fire those guys, not because they were bad coaches. Those were completely different situations than needing to hire a btter coach.
  2. I'll expand on this too - people tired of hearing the same things, what do you want them to say? We're not good right now. No press conferences until we are? Talk about how we don't need to get better? They all say the same things because it's true - when you're bad you need to get better. In the end the results matter more than what's said, but we need more time for conclusive results.
  3. His dad liked some tweets suggesting he transfer somewhere where they'll get a bowl game, bench Martinez, etc.
  4. Coach speak doesn't go away, Saban talks about continuing to get better as much as anyone. Obviously the results need to come, but firing people isn't always what it takes to win.
  5. Well technically it's not, doing that in 4 games would be. Seriously I'm with you though, the handling of Rahmir's redshirt has me baffled. But our pass pro has been alright since OSU. Not great, but serviceable.
  6. You're blaming the athlete for not providing more specific medical information to quash baseless rumors? If it was an injury or something from volleyball sure, but assuming it's not there is zero reason she should need to give more information.
  7. And Illinois was lucky to beat Wisconsin. So we can't get lucky against Wisconsin too? Nobody is arguing that we should beat Wisconsin, or that it's at all likely. But saying we literally can't is an exaggeration, crazy stuff happens all the time. I'm not expecting it by any means, but what if things click during the bye and we see more of the team from the second half of last year?
  8. For sure. No Deontai means Taylor-Britt can't be moved around like they want, and guys like Sullivan and Lee have to take bigger roles. I love those guys, but they are not strengths of the defense. Add in no Taylor-Britt last week, and our hand is pretty weak in the back 7.
  9. And I'm not claiming my eye test is any more objective than yours.
  10. Ha yeah, I'll give you that one. Bo had a great track record with college DBs, but a lot of times they weren't great pros. Amukamara is always good when healthy, and Dennard's problem wasn't his play. But no one else (Evans, Hagg, Gomes, etc) did a lot in the NFL.
  11. Curious why you think he won't. The people criticizing his effort are exaggerating a lot, and hell Nick Gates was drafted. Do you think Stanley Jean Baptiste was a better corner than Lamar? Similar size, similar production (although Lamar has a year and a half of it, SJB only had one), and I'd bet Lamar runs faster than SJB's 4.61. He went in the 2nd round.
  12. I can't help you if you insist your eye test is more accurate than actually watching the film and grading, or any of the other more objective methods.
  13. I think you'll be surprised by both - there are not many guys 340 lbs who can move like Daniels. But I really thought Morgan and Ozigbo were mid-late rounders at least, so I could definitely be wrong.
  14. I'd say both - I don't think they're intentionally sitting someone better right now, but I'm sure the hope is someone is able to at least compete for the job next year.
  15. I do. But we threw for 400+ on them last year. I get that Martinez has been off and the receivers inconsistent, but I still think our best shot is spreading them out. I don't really buy their secondary yet, I am scared of the LBs though.
  16. It kind of is though.. How is running right at their front with our oline and lack of FB smarter than spreading them out and making them run. People are reading a lot into one successful drive against OSU, there's a reason we haven't made it a big part of our plans since then. It's a changeup, throw it a lot and its gonna get crushed.
  17. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/28007832/purdue-loses-another-qb-jack-plummer-needs-surgery And that is why you slide, folks.
  18. Don't know how long this video will be up, but this defensive play pissed me off the most. Domann has a safety here and instead just dives at air. Did he think this was play action and the QB was going to step back?
  19. Yeah I don't know what the defense should have been, but I have never seen outside contain be the responsibility of the opposite side corner/safety, regardless of whether their guy goes in reverse motion or not. Not saying it's not possible, but that doesn't seem like a good defense if so. Now Jackson needed to do something instead of bouncing around in place, but if you're asking the that player to run all the way across the field to set the edge in any circumstance I can see why Purdue would run this play.
  20. Ah yes, the 100% accurate eye test. Because by any other test Jackson has been very solid this year, so let's find one subjective enough to say he's bad.
  21. You are going to see what you want to see.
  22. And we got 40 yards out of one against Northwestern. Theirs was an inside shovel, ours was basically an inverted option - which we ran inside the 10 against KSU to great success a couple times in '95, I believe. The point is it could've worked, and missing a block on it had essentially the same result as missing a block on a dive. Again, not what I would've called. And it's entirely possible people still wouldn't like the playcall if it had worked - but I doubt it. I think Frost wishes we were at the point where we could trust our team to just pound it in, but we're not. I've said enough about Jackson in the other thread, but picking one play of Jackson loafing when it looks like the tackle should be made is not an example of a player "no longer bought-in."
  23. If it works, everyone is talking about how great the playcall is. I agree I would've called it differently, but honestly we don't have the oline to punch it in if defenses are waiting for that. I know that's sad, but it is what it is. The announcers and everyone were freaking out about the genius of Purdue's reverse for a touchdown, that could've easily been snuffed out and they'd be talking about what a dumb call it was. So yeah, I would've called it differently and it's fair to criticize. But we've got to recognize no one would have a problem with it if it had been blocked how it was supposed to be.
  24. Not going through his entire post history, but the guy you're arguing with hasn't posted in that thread either that I see.. so that's a weird thing to bring up. I think the point is you said Frost will fire/demote Chins if it's the right thing to do, and then say the third option (neither of those) is flat out wrong. That third option seems like the one Frost will take, so it seems like your confidence that Frost will do something with Chinander is misplaced. We'll see down the roadeither way.
