Craziest Husker related football story you have heard?
runningblind replied to teachercd's topic in Husker Football
I think you're confsuing Solich with Bill McCartney, and the coed with his daughter being impregnated by a player. Colorado digs continuing through September 13th! -

Don't you have to have something built already for it to implode? -
That must be nice. I have about 20/2020 vision.

A meaningless preseason poll has Nebraska at #7
runningblind replied to cheekygeek's topic in Husker Football
I think they are just including the last 5 national championship (and all of the playoff) winners in stating the desire for some new blood. Ohio state is more personal here for how much NU plays them. -

Key word is supposed to. We are all intrigued how that will work with Jim "ball control" Harbaugh chewing on his play sheet trying not to step in. -

Last year you had Urban Meyer. On the flip side, if Harbaugh loses again to a first year coach then imagine the reaction on that side. It will be very interesting either way. -
No one said anything about #2. Just #3.

It will be interesting to see the reaction if Day loses to Michigan this year, in his first year. How much leash does he get? I think this was the year that set up well for Michigan to beat you guys regardless of coach though, so its partly just timing. -
Best Husker Team to Not Win a National Title Tournament
runningblind replied to Cdog923's topic in Husker Football
1984 - #1 Defense that had a couple clunkers on O. Would have had a chance against anyone on the right day. 1982 - Not so happy valley. Dominant O. 1983 - Going for the win. Dominant O. 1999 - Another salty D. 1993 - Just a bit outside. Solid on both sides, but not world beaters on either. -
The twitter comments from A&M fans.....haha. delusional doesn't begin to cover it. Claiming they will be competing for national titles before OU and he made the right choice. I forget, was OU in the playoff the last two years?

WR Xavier Watts [Notre Dame - Signed LOI]
runningblind replied to The Murphinator's topic in 2020 Profiles
Never said anyone was, that is always what comes up on other teams boards when we get a commit. I was just being sarcastic with the first half of that post, hence the seriously tag. It's hard to be sarcastic on the interwebs, and that's all I speak haha. -

Ahhhh, we didn't want him anyway, he won't be that good, Mr 2 star over here will be waaaaay better at NU. That cover it? Seriously -> he will be a good one. Oh well. Here's hoping we get em in the playoff/a bowl before he's done there. Onward and upward. -

Game of the week/first choice is 11 AM on Fox. -
Another major factor in getting kids to Nebraska in the 70s-90s in addition to what other posters mentioned, is the fact that few teams were on TV regularly. Nebraska was one of them and that was a huge selling point. Now, everyone is.

Except it'll be a bit before they do with Fields I suspect. He'll run it a bunch more than Haskins for sure this year. -
That jersey has the 150 patch on it. Those might be the 3rd semi-permanent unis they were talking about in lieu of an alternate. If so, that is awesome. Cold as ice.

I am SOOOOOO mich older than you, let me drop some wisdom! (Born in 85) This is a product of technology/social media/access to instant information. These opportunities simply were not available pre-2010 even really. Attention spans are shrinking by the year so the media feels the hyperbole must be cranked up continuously to grab eyeballs.

It's called a joke dude.

Nebraska's schedule sets up nicely, but the other factor that should help is that Wisconsin and Iowa have more difficult ones. They both have tougher road games and tougher crossovers. The school to keep an eye on this year with improvement and a nicer schedule than Iowa and Wisconsin is Minnesota. I suspect NW's run of luck in close games ends this year.

Would you like to see Texas & OU in the B1G West?
runningblind replied to K9Buck's topic in Husker Football
The Longhorn Network, while still a disaster, nets $15 Million per year for Texas. The Big XII schools made mid to upper 30s last year, while B1G schools made mid to upper 50s. That difference alone would cover the LHN revenue with a conference change should the network cease to exist. -
Shoot you straight? Don't tell you anything that isn't true?

+1 I was fired up for Miami in '14 and that was as loud as I've heard the old place. People got more angry as the game went on. -
We need any LB type recruit right now. I browsed ILB and OLB composite rankings and I only see a couple who are even a bit interested, both inside. Need a good year on defense and overall to get these kids coming. You think Minny does?
