Devaney was high school football coach in Saganaw, MI. This was back when college teams regularly hired high school coaches. Devaney was hired by Michigan State's Biggie Munn in 1953. A year later Munn became AD and Duffy Daugherty was promoted to HC. Devaney was hired in 1957 by Wyoming. I'm thinking specifically of tOSU last year. AM lines up in the pistol, and quickly moves under center, tOSU puts 5 guys over the center. They knew (gambled) that formation had only one play. I'm hoping with the I formation we'll have plays we can audible into and have success.

I was encouraged when we motioned in the I on the first play. It's wasn't for nostalgia sake. There were times last year when we were 4th and 1 and really could have used some plays with the QB under center. Seeing the I formation leads me to believe we have a QB sneak (or a full back dive) play in the book now. I don't think we run this formation just for the toss sweep.
