  1. I have not been impressed at all with ozigbo but I actually see him being the top back next year. The change in blocking schemes and the lack of an elusive back on the roster makes me think that the staff will be able to utilize him much more than the other guys. Frosts version of the spread puts a lot of stress on opposing linebackers and having a bulldozer type of running back will force teams to respect the inside lanes more than the others. Tre could be that guy but he just doesn't cut well enough. I think for the time being we are going to be resigned to using the system to our advantage more than the individual talent in the backfield, and to that end I think Devine probably brings more to the table than the others.
  2. There won't be any major realignments for at least 5 years, and when it happens I would bet that the schools most likely to be targeted and be accessible are Kansas and Vatech to the Big 10, and even that is a stretch. The big 12 will exist only to the extent that it can serve the interests of Texas, but to that end they are in the catbird seat. Oklahoma could move to the SEC but why would they? Kstate and Iowa st don't bring media markets that are attractive to any conference, and the remaining schools like their association with Texas because it brings them credibility. You've got Cincinnati out there that could be a target of the ACC, but that move would be reactionary as opposed to a first move. Looking at what happened last time, the only real impetus for conference realignment was Texas pissing off the attractive schools in the big12. Who's going to be that player next time?
  3. Masry is a good kid and worked really hard on his grades since he transferred to York. McCool didn't have the resources to help him catch up after the childhood he had but with the help he's gotten it's been remarkable how much he has grown in 3 years. FYI, my daughter's were hanging out with him last weekend and it sounds like frost cooled on him for more than just the grades issue.
  4. Can we all just agree that it sucks that this happened and be glad both kids are ok, and then save the overreactions for if it happens again?
  5. And this is after duval scaled back the workouts by 20% .
  6. I thought the 75/25 rule dictated that I would puke 75% of the time if I drank 25 beers.
  7. Must not value his scholarship too much. Maybe he should pay his own way from now on.
  8. Well he sure as heck couldn't be the flex-seal spokesman. Dude can't figure out how to seal up holes anywhere
  9. After serious deliberation, I have decided that I want both.
  10. I'll probably attribute it to a change to more zone blocking. We will know more as the season goes on with them if we see more pulling and have a better idea of their strength and agility. I haven't focused on their body shape other than it looks like corroborating evidence to the fact that they looked weak and slow.
  11. Don't need the pictures. We have the video of them getting schooled over and over again. The pictures and the reports that they weren't eating at the training table or going to the strength center just corroborate that. I'm not sure what exactly the counter argument is to the whole issue because all of the evidence points in the same direction: they were slow, weak, ill-trained, and ineffective.
  12. That's the bizarre part. Why wouldn't you eat a free, high quality meal every time instead of paying for crap? If I had the opportunity to eat lobster for free I sure as heck wouldn't pay for a McDonald's hamburger.
  13. Funny how that can be shocking and yet not surprising at the same time.
  14. Honas has potential but there's going to be a learning curve for him next year. He's always played in a 4-3, and the adjustment into a 3-4 won't be easy. Fortunately he's an inside linebacker and if they keep him inside that's an easier transition that the outside would be. I'd like to see him add 10 pounds or so to be at a more ideal weight. The kids going to take a pounding playing in the big10
  15. Brown and Weber will likely be the hardest to replace. Brown, because we are starting over at kicker once again and Weber because he was actually a good spot on our defense and nobody behind him showed much.
  16. I'm not going to question what was happening under Riley, but it's hard to imagine that any staff wouldn't require this and that any player wouldn't do it on his own.
  17. Adding Jones and Palmer gets us into the top 20 on 24/7.
  18. Lots of GREAT points there, but it's worth noting that even devaney credited Osborne for the 1969 turnaround and said he was pretty much running the show for the 2 national title squads. Technically no, he wasn't the head coach but if you look at devaneys comments at face value then Tom was actually responsible for turning the program around and being instrumental in changing the way strength and conditioning was viewed by the entire football community.
  19. This says a lot about the confidence the NCAA has in coaches to follow the rules. Kind of sad really, because if you're just looking at this from the standpoint of what is best for student athletes, it's a no brainer.
  20. Wilson and Decker are the 2 I think of first. Beyond that, I think almost every position on defense has players that will look like totally different guys next year.
  21. Watching Speilman this year was reminiscent of demornay in his first 2 years. Hopefully their careers take somewhat different paths after year 2.
  22. Titles do matter, but do they matter more than going 25 years averaging over 10 wins and under 2 losses? Do they outweigh losing no more than. 3 games in a year over that span?
  23. Well considering that Alabama's line pushed defenders around and Nebraska's line got pushed around by defenders, it stands to reason that they are a stronger group. The picture is just further evidence of that. Conjecture would be saying that not a single one of our linemen would have started at Alabama this year, although it's probably an opinion that most people would agree with.
  24. Michigan state is going to be the bellwether game this year. They return something like 20 starters from a pretty good team. At the same time, we've always matched up with them equally for whatever reason. This year we will see just how much the team has bought into the system and how hard they worked in the off-season by this game.
