  1. What you are saying is probably what most likely will happen. However, if by chance he at the beginning is better than the Davis brothers, he will get his share of playing time. But I agree that is perhaps a long shot — at least for the first half of the season.
  2. I saw this in Husker Corner. He will be available in 2020, and he is a 6-1 211 linebacker. Small but supposed to have good speed. All I know. (Please edit this the correct way the other ones are.)
  3. Not suggesting anything, as I would hope they RS him. With that said, I remember as a freshman, Bobby Newcombe was placed as a wingback in 1997 and was very successful. He was designated to be the next QB after Frost graduated the next year. Sure enough he did start at the beginning of the season and Eric Crouch almost left the team. Then, as we know, Newcombe got injured, and the rest was history. He should had remained at wingback, and he could had been by far the best one at that time since Irving Fryer. But Newcombe was never the same after that and never became a star after moving back to wingback. I don’t remember if he had a bad attitude, or it was poor coaching by Frank Solich.
  4. I just wonder if he is in player shape. Let’s hope he hit the gym besides studying.
  5. Frost said Washington is now a step faster. One of the coaches said he has a fast metabolism, which keeps him from gaining more weight. Assuming he plays, he may remain at 190 his whole time here.
  6. Noa at the very least is serviceable. He can run enough to keep the D honest and is a fairly good thrower. Depending on how good the OL and skill players are — and potentially they look really good — that could make Noa look better as a QB if Adrian goes down. Plus Noa knows the offense. You hope Luke doesn’t have to burn a RS year.
  7. From what I have been reading, Houston has been impressive in fall camp, and reading between the lines, he must be ahead of Nance and Chase at this point. If this continues, he may get his share of playing time this season.
  8. Is Mills fast enough to take it to the house?
  9. Like any Big team, N can’t take them lightly. They beat a more talented Texas team last year.
  10. The way Held talks, Bradley must be way down the chart. I wouldn’t be surprised if he transfers.
  11. When Barry Switzer was coaching at OU, he considered the NU rivalry his biggest game. That actually started with the Game of the Century in 1971 with Chuck Fairbanks as OU’s HC. And the rivalry on OU’s side started dissipating when Barry was forced to retire in 1988. So I would say OU considered Texas it’s biggest rival until 1971 and again starting in 1989.
  12. He is supposed to have decent wheels for a big man. If he is in good shape — we will find out soon — he could be as an end a decent pass rusher besides being very good against the run this season.
  13. This numbs the pain some from losing the DT from Cal.
  14. I hope he is a good fit with his Dad and finds a home at KU.
  15. Obviously a big loss if NU doesn’t get him. I think most of us agree this would sting more if it’s Wisconsin versus in state school Minnesota. But I still have hope the Huskers are in it to the end.
  16. I don’t think he has visited Lincoln yet. That could tilt him to N.
  17. That was by far Devaney’s best team before 1970 and 1971. They just couldn’t handle that smaller and faster Alabama team of Bear Bryant.
  18. Copy that. Funny how interpretation is different to different people. But yes, your interpretation makes sense. You just don’t find many who can make you miss and can also outrun you. Robinson may be that rare find — possibly Houston. We will see. Maurice Washington as of right now has shown to have that rare combination more than anyone else on the team, since we have seen it on the field. Hopefully he is able to get his legal problems behind him.
  19. I will agree that Frost is not a defensive genius. But don’t forget, he did coach defense early in his coaching career, including DC with who I believe was Northern Iowa. Thus as far as offensive minded coaches, he probably knows more about defense than most, and perhaps has a better idea on who his defensive coaches should be. But I could be just bit bias in favor of Coach Frost.
  20. I wouldn’t say he lacks that much flash. He looks real explosive, great acceleration and speed. But, yes, he doesn’t look like he makes a bunch of juke moves like perhaps Robinson and Houston. But that first move can be lethal.
  21. I wouldn’t say he doesn’t like Nebraska, but he likes ND better. He certainly visited NU several times. Good luck to this kid.
  22. I love winning recruiting battles against Wiscy.
  23. Not saying this is not true. I see the Crystal Ball favors N. Since I am not a subscriber there, I cannot see Fong’s prediction. But I also will consider the possibility that 247 is not as current and doesn’t know as much as the source from the other board. We will see.
  24. I remember Meyer saying something like why would Nebraska fire a Solich with a 9 and 3 record. There were also rumors — I don’t know if they are true — that Meyer didn’t think the Nebraska job was an upgrade. It certainly was after the ‘97 season and winning national championships three out of four years. There would had been some big name coaches wanting that job. But TO stepped in and wanted Solich. We will never know if Solich was not fired if he would had brought Nebraska back as an elite team with his new coaching staff. Based on his failure to win a conference championship at Ohio, I think not.
  25. According to Greg Smith today, the feeling is ND is in the lead. Yes, I agree if he doesn’t commit this weekend, we will have a better shot as time goes on and he makes more visits to Lincoln. Keep our fingers crossed.
