*** Matt Rhule Hired as New Husker Head Coach ***
DefenderAO replied to Mavric's topic in Husker Football
Deion will bring in some flashy recruits. But CU ball in Boulder is a low state priority. And I'm wondering if he can recruit, and develop, at both lines like I believe Rhule will. ?It's great to have five star QB's and WR's. If both lines are average, your results will be average. -
Heinrich was terrible last year. All the way until he got hurt. Were you able to watch the games?

Huskers Land Texas Transfer QB Casey Thompson

When he did, did you see competence? Ad hoc vs. design, the kids can either do it or not. -

How good is Casey without Palmer? I get the OLine is critical but who makes plays now? He showed me nothing as a runner last season. Rhule has work to do... -
Recently we made too many backup QBs look like Heisman contenders. Would love to see results commensurate to their actual status as not the best on their own team.

Can we do something else than HCMR? Trauma response. Rhule needs no associations with Riley…would only be trumped by a HCSamFrozen

Frost's issue was love for college-aged women and alcohol

Can't have 3rd and short when every run is 7 yards. Big brain. Called the Get Bent and Break scheme. Reminds me of Chin years 1 and 2 stepping his 175 lb free safeties into the box on short yardage situations. That position became a pancake highlight reel with a 0% stop rate. On a serious note, I'd like to be 295+ in the middle, with functional strength vs (Duval's 1975 philosophy), and twitchy edge/LB's that can hold in the run and attack a QB.

Jake Peetz Won't be Nebraska's Quarterbacks Coach

Too soon, bro. -
Frost changed the culture from a train wreck to the Titanic 2.0. He was more interested in partying around campus than developing the team into men and better football players. Frost was able to take in good recruiting classes, which could've been better had he not been hung over to call some kids back in a timely fashion, improve them none, and lose to lesser talented teams. I put zero stock into cream puff MR's opinion on any direction he felt Scott was moving... Him not winning is an effect, not cause.

Let's be better than a goldfish and remember how bad our ST were two years ago. I'm very okay with keeping competency (this year was much better) in that 3rd aspect of this team.

He won't show up for practices. Will be perplexed when they lose by one score.

Can we put Benhardt’s dad into a portal? To a new dimension?
-
The bad coaching is that those two were ever back on the field, especially Bryce after the blocked extra point. That effort, and his output as a Husker, has been abysmal. Throw in his dad, Lavar Ball 2.0, and you need to find every way to get him out of the program.

How do we get excited for this when Mathis, arguably much more highly touted, did zero this year? I guess it's all in conjunction with the new staff's ability to develop and meld the talent. Our offensive grabs yielded much more than the Defensive side.

Better have other-worldly linebackers for a 3-4 if you want to compete for trophies

I wouldn't touch Mertz. We can, and need to, do much better

What players leave after the season? 2022/23 version

If precedent matters, Rhule's reign might start off bumpy. However, I'm in for more than a 2nd shift bar-hopping narcissist. -

$425K for Duval. SMH. Would've been better used piled in a shopping cart on the path of a tornado -

When he found out he didn't have Newsome's hands, he found his NFL path -
Just watched the presser. I was wrong. This man is impressive. He is a leader and has as good of chance as any to change our direction.
