  1. I think it will be amazing if any Northwestern athletic program has any success this season. That department has to be in total shambles right now. Kuddos to the new coaching staffs and especially the athletes if any program meets and especially exceeds expectations.
  2. @Toe @runningblind Like the two of you I've been saying a 2 & 2 to begin is a win.. (my 2023 rhyme)
  3. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one. Hope the article is correct and DoNU is his choice. Time will tell. LINK
  4. Not just on this board is the 10 conference game schedule being discussed. 10 Game Schedule Rumor
  5. Yeah I understand your reasons for the pods but with the new super conferences being created traditional games are going by the way side. Nobody is excited about seeing Ohio State vs Michigan in back to back weekends. They just broke up a traditional power 5 conference so I highly doubt they'll be overly concerned with keeping annual rivalry games or at the least, keeping them as the "last" seasonal match up. It's all about the money now, tradition is gone. Also, I don't think Clemson, FSU & Penn State would be overly excited with the east when they see the weak north. Nor would the western members be happy. If pods are created they have to be clearly balanced. USC & Oregon | FSU & Clemson | Ohio State & Penn State | Michigan & Wisconsin... Those are the "traditional" power teams in recruiting hotbeds. The issue with Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and Washington is the home state population isn't nearly as dense as the bolded teams. The new college football mantra to me sucks. I liked being able to discuss split national titles all off season. I miss the old traditional final weekend match ups but... it is what it is.
  6. I like your pods @Mavric but I'd move Ohio State out of the central. Eastern - Clemson, Florida State, Michigan St, Maryland, Rutgers Central - tOSU, Penn State, Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern Northern - Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois Western - Nebraska, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington
  7. So, the B1G is now 18 teams while the SEC and Big 12 are now 16 team conferences. My question is, how will the Big 12 & ACC fit into the "super conference" criteria in the coming new playoffs? Will the playoffs consist of 4 teams each from the B1G and SEC while then selecting 4 more from the remaining conferences? What does that do to entice Notre Dame into one of the two "elite (or better term, privileged)" conferences? Honestly, what I'd like to see happen is Notre Dame snuff both conferences, join the Big 12 where they'd likely be the routine champion thereby being a perennial playoff team without having to deal with the arrogance of the B1G or SEC hob snobs.
  8. Honestly, I think what this will cause/create/evolve into is fewer 1 loss teams. Schedules just got a whole lot tougher. TV venues should be packed with high level games every weekend. What will be the SEC's response. Maybe FSU, Clemson, N. Carolina and Miami?
  9. Wow... talk about a speedy decision.... Oh Well.. 18 teams playing 9 conference opponents home and away, rotating every 2 years... Guess the 2024 schedule just got thrown out the window.
  10. The Atlanta market would be very nice to have and Nebraska has been working that market hard in recruiting. Hoping you're right @Lorewarn
  11. ACC part won't happen. (at least not soon.) Oregon is not liked by either USC or UCLA and as such those schools won't joyously accept that invite according to 1620 this morning. Also, Oregon isn't even a top 150 accredited academic institute so there's that too. Washington I can see but Oregon is, imo, a no. Still believe the next group is the "all in" group of: Washington, Stanford from the PAC UNC, Miami, Notre Dame, Virginia (or Pitt) from the ACC Maybe to reach 24, FSU and Pittsburgh (or Virginia)
  12. Don't bet against one of them (if not both) getting the invite nod.. The amount of research dollars those schools bring in is mindboggling. (Though Washington too is huge.) I can see a shakeup coming that will implode the ACC too as the SEC expansion is far from over.. If I were to guess, I'd likely guess there is going to be 2 conferences, 24 teams each.
  13. Umm... seriously? It's about survival. It's about financing the athletic department. It's about not leaving a single stone unturned to provide what is best for both the athletes and the fans. Why on earth would Colorado have any shame? This super conference movement is going to be the death of college football as we've known it and I'm not sure how I feel about it. One thing I am sure about though is there's no shame in doing that which is needed to survive.
  14. lol, I can relate to the "defecating pink liquid"... Once when in the military we had pepto and gin shots.... defecated pink for hours.
  15. Here's a very scary fact (that is if CNN can be considered factual) Link to the article We all know that 22000 russian refugees isn't that many in the whole scheme of things but the lack of vetting at the border is cause to wonder. Honestly, it is highly concerning to me and the open border will be a huge weighing point in my 2024 vote. The Article States: In total, nearly 22,000 Russians, including the Manzurins, have tried entering the United States through the country’s southern border since October 2022, the first full month after the draft was announced, according to the latest US Customs and Border Protection data.
  16. Yeah... If all of this is true.. Northwestern's athletics might be over. How can any Institution allow this behavior? Will the NCAA start an investigation?
  17. First of what might be several. One has to believe players are going to be poached.
  18. I don't think it would be beneficial for anybody or the university to completely purge the staff unless the season was canceled. The University and Athletic Department need to consider the student athletes safety and honestly, the players are likely not going to be fully engaged this season and that's dangerous to their health/careers. Purge the staff post season or if now, cancel the season. (Might help to lesson possible NCAA rules infractions)
  19. And, they also just fired the baseball coach.
  20. This is more than a dumpster fire. With the announcement of 8 players now set to sue the university I think it's more than just football staff. The athletic department right now is in disarray I'm sure. Not sure if a private university like Northwestern can overcome this sizable hurdle. Most certainly it won't be easy. @ColoradoHusk to quote you: I believe the administration has put a freeze on the stadium project. CBS Chicago News Link
  21. Wow!!! Honest question. Could this be reason for the NCAA to levy the dreaded death penalty? I mean seriously what is really worse paying player to join or once agreeing to join subjecting them to physical, sexual and emotional abuse?
  22. The only answer the WH staff when asked about Biden's Mental Health, Hunter's Drug Addiction and Dad, Son, Brother (hell, whole darn family including children and grandchildren) is "We/I can can't answer that question during an ongoing investigation". We slammed Trump for the never ending investigations and now we have the same issue with Biden. Can we please just get over both and move on? Please with sprinkles on top
  23. He writes for the OWH... that should say all that's needed to say. Omaha is a Creighton first city and for someone like me (My philosophy of "you can't be a fan of two schools") it's so frustrating. I'm a husker fan and constantly hope for creghton to fail.
  24. 2 players decommitted yesterday.. Both lineman.. Man what a mess. Seriously, who in their right mind would want to deal with this headache?
  25. Nobody can justify this disgusting and illegal (by state statues) "cough" tradition "cough". Anti-Hazing Law: Illinois in 1990 implemented an "Anti-Hazing Law" and personally I believe there's much, much more news forthcoming. This act of what is described as "Hazing" is far beyond the normal and even acceptable (albeit, hushed) hazing at other institutions. (high school thru professional sports) I also can't see how Northwestern can hush/silence this scandal. The hideousness of it. The psychological trauma that might have occurred as a result of this. Emotional trauma and mental scarring simply can't and won't be tolerated or easily forgotten. Personal Disgust and Action/Reaction: Not sure how others here would respond but if some dude(s) thought it would be cool to dry hump me naked (especially being held down by piers) yeah.. you can bet your arse I'd lose my mind and likely end up in prison or in the very least, court. Accountability to Coaches: Fitz is done. His reputation is destroyed and justifiably so. These revealed acts are demeaning, degrading, immoral and intolerably disgusting. My hope, someone or group of people is held accountable to the full extent of the law. Also, that every college/university takes this moment to do a little soul searching within and any egregiously disgusting hazing "traditional" acts are ended. Hazing should be allowed. (Acceptable Hazing and Within Reason): NCAA needs to implement a zero policy with enourmous fines that may result in effected sport termination at said university/college. Guidelines on acceptable hazing practices (ie: polish shoes, run steps/sprints/etc) should also be implemented. Hazing is part of the right of passage (initiation persay) and can have lasting positive memories. (Many of us have these from sports yes, but also military, fraternities and even career advancements)
