  1. It has been said before - Under Mike Riley, the biggest issue (aside from the coaches) when we faced Ohio State was that the players didn't believe they deserved to be on the same field as them. That obviously was not the case last year, and I hope this year the guys continue to take a step forward in the mentality category: EXPECT TO WIN! It is a little concerning to me how much the staff is talking up Ohio State. I get that you have to make sure your players understand the quality of opponent that they're facing, but I'm not sure I get an overly confident vibe from the coaches.
  2. Ameer Abdullah always does a great job representing the University.
  3. I got thinking the other day about all the freshmen/sophomores on the team that appear to be building blocks for a great team in a couple years. Offense: -Wandale -Adrian -Mo Washington Defense: -Cam Taylor-Britt -Garrett Nelson -Caleb Tannor And that's only listing the guys that we've seen play that have high upsides, and doesn't include many young linemen because it's difficult for the untrained eye to see what they will become. You could add to this list with potential: -Jurgens -Hixson -Benhart -Rahmir Johnson -Houston -Chase Definitely some great building blocks. Hopefully Adrian sticks around for 2 more years and we're lined up to have a championship level team his Sr year.
  4. Things i learned: 1) a switch flipped in Adrian in the second half and he absolutely balled out. 2) Mills - every time he shows flashes of being a really good back, he fumbles... if he continues to have ball security issues, he has to sit 3) Hopefully coach Chins figures out the right way to defend the overload formation that Illinois killed us on by running weak side 4) Irregardless of everything that went wrong - turnovers, penalties, bad calls by the refs, etc... this team found a way to win. We've got to play better against the good teams on the schedule, but games like this over the past few years have consistently resulted in us finding any way to lose the game. It's great that they figured out how to win one.
  5. Exactly! Turnovers and penalties made this game really hard to watch, but you have to come out of this game feeling better about the offense's ability to sustain drives
  6. Welcome back Adrian Martinez!!!

  7. Anybody notice Mo Barry hasn't been playing? Anyone know why?
  8. And the high throws are hanging our receivers out to dry
  9. Main takeaway from the 1st half: We're still a long way away from where we plan to be as a team. Let's just hope we escape with a win here...
  10. What do you even do if you're Florida State? Things are obviously headed in the wrong direction under Taggart. Do they fire him after only 2 years?
  11. They were up 21-0 but let UCF get rolling before half. I expect UCF to win by 2 scores still
  12. It would be pretty close. Going down the tiers of teams in each division: Ohio state - Wisconsin : call that a wash right now Penn state - Iowa : pretty even probably Michigan state - northwestern : see today's score Michigan - Nebraska : pretty even probably Maryland - Purdue : fairly even I think the divisions are as even as they've ever been with the rise of Wisconsin this year and Michigan being less than stellar
  13. If Taylor doesn't come back, this thing could turn into a game...
  14. Wisconsin looks really good
  15. Why is this thread still a thing? 9 wins was great, but the at-least-once-a-year beatdown, accompanied by the once-a-year loss to an inferior opponent, also accompanied by the weekly embarrassment of Bo losing his sh*t on national TV.... Yeah, I don't miss that one bit....
  16. Trevor Lawrence hasn't played at a stellar level this year so far either. He just has a better team around him right now to get through it.
  17. Interesting comments from Frost postgame last night. He said when they're in 11 personnel, NIU was running a 3-3 stack and they had not prepared for that look, so they had to run more 2 TE personnel than they planned on. I found that interesting in a number of ways. First, it would explain why the first couple drives weren't as crisp as we're used to seeing. And good on the coaches to adjust on the fly.
  18. 1. I have restored hope in Dedrick Mills 2. It won't matter who the kicker is if we continue to allow the defense to run straight through the middle of the line and block kicks. I'm sure coach Dewitt will get that cleaned up immediately. 3. We're going to have to throw the ball around the yard this year. Our run game is either 0 yards or 60 4. When's the last time we blocked a punt?! Freaking awesome! 5. Lamar Jackson deserves a TON of praise. I thought after the Purdue game last year when he got benched that he was going to transfer. He stuck it out and is playing at an elite level so far this year. 6. Run defense this year has been stout AF, and that's going to be huge in conference play. 7. I really hope Cam Taylor-Britt isn't hurt badly. He's a great player and a guy you can build a defense around
