Being stated on another board that Fidone was taken out by an "overzealous walk-on" who took him out at the knees in a 7 on 7 non contact drill... It's spilt milk however you look at it I guess but damn that really sucks if true..
I don't follow wrestling super close is Manning getting close to retirement? Manning has had a lot of success but I can't help but wonder if a new younger coach could help take the team to another level.
Yes and no. R. Johnson probably started the year as the 4th, maybe even 5th guy and ended up RB1. I think most would say Stepp started the year as CO-#1 with Ervin and was nowhere to be found at the beginning of the year. Obviously Ervin went down and Yant had some issues that factored into the RB rotation but overall I still think they can do a better job of identifying their best guy(s) before the season. Hopefully somebody is good enough to emerge as the clear cut best guy but wouldn't be surprised to see RB by committee again.
A lot to like in this video. Yant getting reps with ones and looking like an absolute beast. Also loved to see Farmer and Tannor (I think) trying hard to get the ball. Forcing turnovers is something we could really improve upon.
I have felt that our running back room was stacked for the last few years yet every year, due to injuries and other factors, they dissapoint. That being said a RB room with Grant, Johnson, Yant, Allen and a healthy Ervin seems pretty loaded.
We play North Dakota the following week. We should be able to play them the next day and throttle them and if not, we should just pack it up and call it a season.
His reasons for being lower rated are likely:
1. He’s 6’0.
2. Plays in Massachusetts.
Whipple obviously loves this kid to pursue him that hard. I think he’s a good get.
Unfortunately this team had a few really close games that didn't go there way. Winning cures everything. But after losses started piling up this team had nothing to play for and the better players on this team are likely only worried about their next step. It's frustrating though because we've fielded much better teams with a lot less talent (on paper anyway).
I agree and he's put together well enough that he should be able to come in and compete day 1. From what I remember Ameer didn't have great top end speed either and he turned out ok for us.
