  1. Mr. Pernell's article ended with "You can't spin 3-9 or 4-8 as progress in Year 4 of a coaching regime.." So, in agreement, I'd say if Frost can't eek out two wins in the next four games he's at least "evaluated" and likely toast. If he wins out or gets three? 'Evaluation" time with an eye toward his first 4 games next season.

  3. I disagree. Not as to what you're saying about the HC "getting hammered by fans," but by how important what fans are saying one way or the other is to a good football coach. Not quite "so what," but close to that as compared to performance on that field.
  4. Heart vs Brain thing again. Heart, the little angel at my right ear, says "Yes, dear, of course the Huskers will beat lowly Purdon't." And Brain, the little devil at my left ear says, "LMAO! The Huskers always find a way to lose, unless it's a super crap team, and Purdue is crap but not super crap; Boilermakers by 10."
  5. I got the feeling during that little speech, in response to that direct question, that our Athletic Director was showcasing himself as the kind of athletic director you would want to work for.
  6. Maybe. Maybe SF can recruit great players. But there's a growing perception that he cannot develop and play his recruits to the level of the B1G's best teams. I subscribe to that perception, reluctantly, but in view of what we've seen for 40 games. Close. But not over the top Nebraska winning football.
  7. By culture I’m referring to the play style on the field and the tougher attitude of the 90s and before. I sure agree with the failure you imply as to the other definition of culture, being more accountable as to discipline etc. Correct me if I’m taking that wrong. I see those two things closely linked and Frost trying but failing with both.
  8. I've found myself not wanting to say to anybody, "Yes, replace him." All the while knowing, or feeling like I know, as you say, that he SHOULD be fired. But not for the same reasons, mine being that he's visibly going by a different cultural dynamic that the coaches preceding him going back to Solich were going by. I like that effort he's making (or seems to be making, I could be wrong about that whole thing).
  9. Looking back I recall a similar feeling about Callahan, with all the hype/hope as he came in and swished his hand around to change the culture and tanked the program. Frost is (apparently) making efforts to change it back, a tough row to hoe at this point and that is the only thing I like about him. But he's showing that he's not up to the W vs L task of being quite relevant and feared in our conference. I feel like it can be done because we see heavy-win teams in the B1G.. and we should be one of them.
  10. 9-4 looks pretty good now. But the costs of the NDAs would be prohibitive.
  11. Been ages since feeling real good about the program. The close losses this year against two good teams helped, but we could not sustain the good play as the season wore on. So, yeah... not feeling so good about them, although I admit to seeing a bit of hope.. can't put it in the Scott Frost coaching abilities much.. just don't know and that's what's so sad.
  12. Aww.. WiddleWedWooster has his feewilngs hurt?
  13. There you go. Feeling better now? That's a good boy.
  14. 4 quarters of that would be nice. Even though at this point it would feel something like when Appalachian State beat Michigan in 2007.
  15. I see no significance in your point, even though I'm certain there is something there.
  16. We're talking about OUR stats, which were inflated by playing two high schools and one crap B1G team. Yes we go down field almost routinely. Then we camp out in the red zone at critical times and miss kicks or fail on 4th down instead of scoring.
  17. Yes, as I noted. But our stats were inflated against those three.
  18. We racked up a lot of scoring and yardage and 1st downs against fluff teams (Northwestern, Buffalo, and Fordham). We did good against the teams we lost to, as well, but those three fluffies inflated our stats.
  19. I think there is quite a range of attitudes about all this among Husker fans. We've been through a lot in the past 20 years or so.. especially the past 10 or so. It's all good as to opinions. But many seem to want to wish good play into existence, and I think that portions of what we have as coaching staff could make it better, but damn we used to win 9-4 and complain. This 3-5 crap is hellish for Nebraska Cornhusker Football. Wishing ain't gonna do it, and like any disease or wound we have to look at it and say what we see before we can even hope to heal and change.
  20. Sounds funny but made me think of Bo. Reminder look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nebraska_Cornhuskers_football_seasons and zeroing in on his seasons after we suffered through Callahan after Frank's 7-7 then his 9-4 and gone, then Bo came here with his smash mouth attitude and yep I wish he were here now (as compared to the Mr. Rogers attitude of Gentleman Mike Riley and this Hollow Hero we now have).
  21. Well said. And the OP chart on the peer comparison bears it out.
  22. With you on that. I wondered at the time if he was lying about the majority of the players not wanting to bowl. Hell, players love to play. And after the effort to dodge the Oklahoma game I wondered more, as both those incidents smack of our boy Scott Frost as having a bit of a let's say poor skill set with regard to some of the aspects of his job as head coach of a large program football team. Plus throwing players under the bus. Repeatedly and in more than one way.
  23. Trying to predict who will win Nebraska's next game, we can no longer go by stats and injury reports and all that, let alone any lofty expectations to fire up and win out. The instability of the Husker football time is now such that every game is a crap shoot, the Fordhams and Buffaloes notwithstanding, and I'm now not so sure we'd beat Buffalo again at this point.. maybe Fordham. Just what the hell is going on? Has Frost lost them? Some of them? Anyway, I'd hope that we pull it together during this bye week and get our noses open and breathing fire and keep it that way for four quarters and beat these arrogant Boilermakers something like 35 - 10.
  24. Ugh.. the reality of SF is being pointed out in these forums from so many different angles that its clarity can't be denied. And yet that reality is still being responded to by The Too Sooners: "It's too soon to tell." "He needs this next year, maybe the next, to fully change the culture." Et-freaking-cetera. He's played and coached for decades. What we see here is what we get; this is it, this is Scott Frost at Nebraska. In one or two more seasons we MAY get 5 or 6 wins. We may get 7. <---------- I have doubts about the 7, and even the 6 after what we've seen of his inability to coach players and run the program. We. Deserve. Better. And better is out there.
