  1. They both were good in their own right. IIRC Zac checked down a lot, even if it was just a two yard gain on 3rd and 6. But he was accurate down field for the most part when he had time to throw. I liked how Ganz could move around the pocket and scramble for some yards. He was accurate too, but had some Favre in his veins. Sometimes Joe reminded me of a bobble head when he ran because his helmet looked two big for his neck & shoulders. And Zac had heavy bricks or cement in his shoes. Ahh, the good times...
  2. I understand it, but I don't agree with it as the source of all reasoning either. We can look at Mike Dantonio for example. He had one HC job before MSU. He was 18-17 at Cincinnati. But he is the right fit at MSU and has done a really good job there. All it takes is one guy to be the right fit. And I think Riley is the right man and the right fit for Nebraska.
  3. What True To The Red said. Great highlights man
  4. I agree Minnesota. I-form sets... QB under center... Some play action... Some shotgun formation with single back or empty backfield..... There is no reason a pro-style offense can't have a few different formations. I don't know if the system QB needed is on the current returning roster. If not I think Riley said he would adjust the offense.
  5. Wish Randy all the best. Very happy he was a Husker. Wish he came back for his final season, but kind of tough to argue against turning down top 15 NFL money.
  6. He's well respected as a coach and as a person. A lot of us like this hire so far, but it's just a matter of time before the entire Husker Nation is on board.
  7. Same here if it plays out that way. I think our DL has some real untapped potential just ready to get after it. Hoping the new coaches with a new strategy brings out the beast mode in this group. I'm sure Bray will get the Linebackers in shape as well.
  8. I guess I'm a little reserved in my excitement. In fairness i do not know that much about Mr. Langsdorf. Could you or anyone else expand on why you are excited about this hire? Transitioning from a first time head coarch, with a first time OC and first time DC - to a tenured HC, with an OC that has almost 10 years of experience in that role. Many of the largest complaints over the last few years have been the lack of experience on the staff - the inability to fix the issues that have plagued us. Well, we have the experience now. That in itself is a big reason to be optimistic about the hires. I agree. From all the research and videos I've been seeing, they all talk about a real family atmosphere among the coaches. It's not lip service or a dysfuncational family environment, which is good to hear. There is a lot of genuine respect for each other in what they can do, and how they work together with the student athletes. It's kind of important consideration when putting together the base core of your staff.
  9. Saw this a few days ago. It's from a few years ago. He's answering questions regarding QB battle before season opener, possible transfers, making changes, competing, etc. Pretty good vid if you have the time.
  10. Yep. Guess it means we all... nailed it (with a symbol of our love, and understanding)
  11. AJ Bush, the Southpaw Slugger, and Zach Darlington, the Other Guy. Are they good? They all will have to learn a new offense and understand what to do it in. I am certain Riley & Staff will give each guy a legitimate chance and provide the necessary guidance and teaching required. I just wonder if any of these guys are accurate passers that can place the ball where it needs to go.
  12. I haven't seen Stanton. From the few series of Fyfe, I've seen enough of him. And unfortunately enough of Armstrong. This position is concerning.
  13. Armstrong, Stanton, and Fyfe. Is that all we really have??
  14. That Veronica Vaughn... Is one piece of ace
  15. Yall have pretty much said it all. Will miss Ameer too. Great player, Great Captain, Great human.
  16. Bell has made a lot big plays receiving, returning kicks and blocking throughout his career. Not the greatest college receiver I've ever seen, but he did pretty darn good on the field for us for 4 years. As for the other stuff that gets under people's skin, and sometimes mine, I just do my best to roll my eyes & block it out the best I can. If he was a pro, I'd carry a different tune and would be more verbal about it. That being said, I appreciate what he's done on the field over the years. Pretty good football player.
  17. The QB is the most important piece of Riley's offense. And typically all successful teams. I'm still not convinced that TA is the right guy. But I haven't seen anything else we have to compare him with. I used to be hopeful with him, not so much anymore. I'm guessing he will have the edge going forward, but thinking it will be open competition. If no one can do better, than I wonder what the heck is going on with QB depth. Riley and staff will have lots of work ahead of them. I am happy that this multiple mumbo jumbo style of offense will be flushed and a new system will be implemented.
  18. I don't know the answer, but duties as QB coach in NFL might not be as secure of a job as an OC for a Husker program that has strong ties to Riley. Like I said, just a guess.
  19. One might be this guy. Just a guess based on the previous ties. Danny Langsdorf is in his first year as the Giants’ quarterbacks coach. He spent the previous nine seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Oregon State University, his second coaching stint at the school. This is his second NFL job after serving on the staff of the New Orleans Saints from 2002-04. Langsdorf’s offenses at Oregon State were regularly among the most productive in the Pac 12 Conference. Nine of the top 13 single-season yardage outputs in school history were produced under his guidance. In 2013, Oregon State set a school record with 6,071 yards (shattering the mark set the previous season of 5,610 yards). The Beavers led the conference with 376.2 passing yards a game and were third with 467.0 total yards per game. 20. Barney represented the temp HC position with class. Good effort by the players. Lots of work still to do to get better. Glad we got Riley and ready to move forward. It will be interesting and exciting to see what happens between now/Spring/Fall practices. GBR
