  1. I can agree with that. The only thing that should really happen first and foremost is to start developing players. Get some of these guys a few series on the field. It's a great time to give them a shot and see what they can do. Niles Paul, Meno Holt, Wil Henry, Anthony Blue, give a few snaps to Witt (really, is that so bad?), put Culbert back at IB and give him a few meaningful carries, try him or Mendoza and Helu returning kicks and punts, on and on and on. I'm not saying start these guys, or play them majority of the downs. But give these guys a chance to play on Saturday. Better to make a mistake now while they are young. Allow them develop. And forget the redshirt crap. Save them for what? Burn 'em and play 'em. You wont know if someone is a playmaker if he's standing on the sidelines week after week, watching what we are watching, and just wondering "what did I do wrong to not get consideration for some playing time". They might just bring some fresh air, some excitement and enthusiasm... or life to the field. Just my two cents. Maybe a buck. GBR!!!
  2. I swear - for every new thread that starts with Pelini I'm going to bump this sh!t. My views are totally aligned with Bogazm-Headspazm.
  3. Thank you for the support Sooner46. Go tear 'em up & best of luck! Boomer Sooner!
  4. I kind of agree, at this point it doesnt matter. In light of the the news recently, it's painfully obvious... his friend just got canned. And he knows his future here doesnt look good.
  5. Thanks AuburnTiger. Appreciate the support! War Eagle!
  6. My thoughts are - I could care less who transfers, doesnt want to come here, waffles, changes their mind, decommitts, etc. I only care who we have and who will stick it out. Take those men to the battles. Play for the N.
  7. Yea, that's a good idea. You do realize he just started coaching HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL right? You are just a beacon of sunshine in every post you make! Brighten my day every time! I can never and will never understand why some people think former players will automatically be OMG TEH BEST COACH EVER1!! That idea by itself is just plain dumb IMO. In a sense I can agree. I think that past and recent players can be good position coaches. I wouldn't push for whole DC thing though. Hang on, in this particular case it wouldnt be a dumb or bad idea. DC - definately not. But a D-line coach? That makes sense. Because he was a successful player at the college level here, and also at the professional level. So he knows more than average. And by coaching High School, that means he wants to teach & develop players. A former Blackshirt coaching, teaching, providing leadership and motivation, and the meaning of being a blackshirt. Wistrom was a bad ass. Not a bad idea as a def line coach IMO. Besides, it's only an idea.
  8. Thanks Rob for the update. I think it's a wise choice. That to me seems like they want to make a change for the better. To earn those Blackshirts, to get some real pride back. It's never to late to work your tail off at becoming better.
  9. Welcome, thank you for the support and Roll Tide!
  10. Thanks to all for keeping us posted on the press conference.
  11. Welcome to the board. As well as all the newcomers lately. I totally agree with your views, reasons and rationalization as well.
  12. Hmm... sounds like he pulled a scheme out of the ol' playbook. When you are losing, concede with half the game (in his case season) left to play, make no changes, and run the clock out. Because, why try if you believe it's already over. Hate to see anyone lose a job. I really do. But clearly changes are needed.
  13. I think if skersfan sees your post he'll let you have it. Mr. Cook has donated millions of dollars to the University. Not just athletics, but to the students. The Cook Pavilion when built and still is looked at by many schools as the template for student recreation centers. He has given countless donations. He had the NU in his will, geared to recieve millions in gifts. He could have very easily given these gifts to someone else or group. My point, is to show a little damn respect to a man that has given more than just a donation for his season tickets. He's 72 and donated his life to NU. Very few of us have done this. Plus, he makes a honest point. Without him, he have no great weight room or student center. Which means lower enrollment, fewer great athletes, less $...less success period. I didnt know he was so involved. Sounds like his heart is at NU & he's hurting, & he's been very generous. Hopefully he will stick around. If he walks away, he walks away and NU takes a hit. As for the threats - do what he wants or he walks and no money - does not change the fact that it's immature and controlling. I dont know about you all, but I dont bow to the mighty dollar.
  14. I would put them all together... in a big bowl of soup. I wouldnt need to offer crackers. I could just serve it as Solich/Callahan/Cosgrove/Pelini. With a little bit of salt. But then you might say that's not an option out there. Well then... I guess it doesnt make sense.
  15. bring back the fire, yes. Bring back Bo? No. Of topic a little Addison Mode... but your swift... sweet attachement, I just don't get it. Whats sweet about a guy that drops almost every ball thrown to him anymore? I am one that will vote for Bo. Give him a chance. For anyone who says he isn't qualified... did you say that four years ago when we were all chanting his name for HC. And if you think he isn't qualified give me a list of three or four coached that are and would think of coming here. Easy. I never chanted his name. If you like Pelini, that's your opinion. I have my views why I do not like him. I have expressed them before. And I'm not about to repeat myself every time someone wants to bring his name back into the dozens of new coach threads. If you dont get my signature as you put it.... so what. really.
  16. The only ball in Pelini's court is the 43 that Kentucky hung on LSU. Wait a second, I think the Wildcats just scored again.
  17. bring back the fire, yes. Bring back Bo? No.
  18. Wow, I guess NU loses one and gains a few I'M A MAN!!! I'M SEVENTY-TWO!!! Guess it's all about Cook & what he wants. Heh.. kind of a selfish pavillion if you ask me.
  19. I like the thought of Rimington as AD.
  20. Bank it! I put my reputation on the line for it. Oh, and I TOLD YOU IT WOULD HELP! k.. thanks. Keep posting updates.
  21. so this is truth and not a rumor? Can I take it to the bank? It's a pretty bold statement.
  22. Rimington for AD? hmm.. the thought sounds interesting.
