The WR recruit Patrick Onwuasor should be a lock seeing he can easily be a WR and make plays immediately. I am hoping some of the DE's took notice of how slow our D-Line is off the edge and how we have no playmakers as pash rushers.

That is a good way to describe it...absurdity. Don't know what to say...we take a lot of losses that should never happen and they are completely absurd occurences...VA Tech, Iowa St., CCG last season...and now this absurdity. Call it sloppy or undisciplined and lack of execution...I guess Bo is right...but he has got to start manning up making sure his coaches and players are not this unprepared. The coaches and players were equally bad today.

OK...this guy now becomes one of my biggest recruiting targets I hope we land. Martinez can throw the ball...we need some big-time guys to catch it!!!

Those pictures are kinda interesting, gotta admit. We are dropping passes and fumbling balls at a severe rate. Dang, I actually thought this was a joke at first...but heck, I would look into it.

No...Lee did a nice job today giving us a different look so credit him. But Martinez in my opinion threw the ball pretty well...the dropped balls killed him...a couple TD passes from Martinez would shake TX defense and then all of the sudden Martinez could open up and start ripping off big running plays. I think it came down to TX defensive game plan against our O-Line was overwhelming and we knew we had to go into basic pass protections. To me, we could have still done this with Martinez though.

Been posting on the other threads but saw this one... Congrats to Texas. You guys had a great game plan on defense and some good play calls on offense to get the win. Your players looked definitely into it and executed well. I would love to play you again in the Big 12 Championship!

I'm kinda surprised that the refs missed that, they had two line judges looking right at his feet. No surprise the refs missed it...they were not doing any favors for us today. I AM SHOCKED our coaching staff missed it. You gotta be smarter than that and not quickly punt. We were desperate at that time to keep drives alive and we just shot ourselves and "punted on first down". It wasn't the coaches' fault. It was on the other sideline, and they had no way of knowing it was a close call. That call was on the refs and the replay booth. Someone's gotta be smart enough to call that play down from the booth. I am damn sure TX would have.

I am not really one to call for firings but it sure would make a lot of sense to have Scott Frost come back and fill a spot left by Gilmore in the near future.

We need to get some big time recruiting in these 2 areas: WR - so the good news is that I saw Martinez can make the passes...he is just a freshman and will get better. But our WR's dropping balls killed us. We need big time WR's. Ohio State gets them, so does Michigan, so does Oregon...all have running QB attack offenses like us. When the run game was not working today, bringing the TE back into the passing game could sure help us get 5-7 quick yards. And you saw WR's who can catch the ball would have won us the game. D-Line (especially DE speed) - we have NO speed off the edge and get NO pressure on QB's. Our D-Line is weak...Suh is not here guys so step it up...we do not get D-Line pressure in the backfield. I can't remember the last time I saw a highlight reel sack this year from our D-Line. Playmakers at WR and DE are sorely needed.

Worst effort since Iowa St. Both disgusting and embarrassing. Coaching was crappy. Onside call... And how can you not challenge the Reed catch to keep that drive going??!!! And can't even get the defense lined up on the goal line? And burning stupid timeouts? It was a mess. Stupid penalties. Ricky Thenarse needs to go to the bench. TX gets huge extra critical yards because he doesn't know how to tackle. Niles Paul needs to see the bench. Dropping passses and nada in the punt return game. Finally we get somewhere with Hagg. I am tired about hearing about our D-Line...stop living off the coattails of Suh and f'n play some ball! We are below-average...we get NO pressure on the QB. Gilbert is not that good or fast but we made him look world class...he would have crumbled under the pressure but we didn't get any on him. We need speed off the edge recruiting DE's in a very, very, very bad way. The O-Line didn't get it done and gave our run game no chance...gotta think TX just has the better personnel and they did a great job in defensive coaching against us. Martinez and the zone read had no chance to even get started because they were in our backfield on the snap basically. Even Burkhead and Kinnie (both usually reliable) drop TD passes? Fumbles...ya guys wanna practice that ya think? :facepalm: The one thing that I didn't think about in keys to this game was that the officials were NOT going to do us any favors...man did we get jobbed on some cheap calls and get some really BAD spots. When I saw this going down, I knew it wasn't our day.

The onside was an absolutely TERRIBLE call. Kick it out of the back of the endzone and let your so-called vaunted defense get you the ball back. The players played like crap today but the coaching was also pathetic. How can you not challenge the Reed catch to keep that drive alive?! We needed every drive to keep us in the game and you just give TX that one??? Pull your head out! :madash

And for the love of goodness, DO NOT KICK THE BALL OUT OF BOUNDS! Yea, I agree with all that. 1) Turnovers are huge...we cannot give up turnovers and must get turnovers. 2) Don't give up field position which can translate to cheap FG's. 3) Do not give them big kick and punt returns. 4) Huge game needed from O-Line to protect Martinez and to let the 3-headed monster roar. Get some highlight reel pancakes for everyone here on HB! 5) Pressure and sacks from everywhere on Gilbert Grape that he doesn't know what's going on. 6) No cheap personal fouls to keep Tex drives alive. 7) Stop Tex run yards on early downs. 8) Low 3rd down conversions from the Blackshirts...3 and out.

What's next? Little ears of corn stickers on the helmets? I have always hated the all white uni's. Please do not change the helmet (and I say no chance of that happening). I could live with the all red uni's for just this one game and the Red Out. Was it just me or did VA Tech uni's in the opener vs. Boise look hideous? And Oregon...their uni's often look terrible. The white names on the back of a white uniform? What genius thought that wouldn't be horrible to read? That sure looked cheap and lame.

NU 30 Tex 27 Air 106 Ground 236 I expect Texas to throw everything at us. I know we badly want to win and we better be motivated. But they want to shove our face in it as we go to the Big 10 and I think they will play highly energized...they win and it propels them, they lose and their season is done. Let's end their season.

I like it and bolded my favorite parts! I expect our O-Line and D-Line to be after it the entire 60 minutes! Crush 'em!

Texas is hungry and dangerous right now. They have been prepping for us and are rested...and we know they have talent. That is a tough combination we cannot overlook. This is a HUGE grudge game and we must execute to win. I expect Texas to throw everything they have at us. We better be ready!

Shocked Alabama lost to South Carolina...again, South Carolina?! Major trap game for Bama after big wins @Arkie and vs. Fl. Just shows how hard it is to go undefeated and you gotta be up enough to win every game. Bama didn't even use their talent-rich RB's...they won't make that mistake again. Michigan State is still a darkhorse for me...not surprised they won but am surpised they won fairly easily. Very solid football team. Michigan has no defense. Another example of how one offensive player (D. Robinson) is not going to carry an entire team.

Any chance we can still land Jalen Grimble? USC has a lot NOT going it for it these days. The penalties/sanctions, not in Top 25 with lackluster play this season, most people outside USC have a belief Lane Kiffen is somewhat of a joke. I think other Pac 10 programs can steal some of their offensive recruiting targets but there is no reason why we can't beat them on defensive recruits.

Great game by the Huskers tonight. Keep it going! To work on: Special teams coverage on kickoffs...just have Adi kick it out the back of the endzone. Someone is going to break one if we don't get better. Fumbles...still putting the ball on the turf. Martinez and Burkhead even though we got them back. And close one with Robinson but knee was down. These two things above will lose a game for us if we don't clean it up.

Refs have a habit of making questionable calls anyways from any conference. Yeah, I saw that. When the ref first grabbed the ball it looked like it was short by a foot or so. But somehow the ball miraculously moved ahead a couple of feet after that. The Illini got jobbed on that one. Interesting this was posted here on Huskerboard as I was watching that game and thought the same thing...OSU was stopped short and that was huge as they would have been on the ropes.

Things I learned: LSU is dang lucky. Ohio State looks is beatable. Florida is ordinary w/o Tebow. Oregon has a scary offense....Penn State not so much. Georgia, what happened to you? Knew Michigan State was that good. Thought NC State was better than that. USC...ha ha ha ha ha.

How do you know that atm is going to be more consistent when we play them? It could be easier to beat them later on in the season,you never know they could be nicked up and have alot of injuries by the time that we play them and I really doubt that atm's qb is going to get any better as the season gos on he already has 11 turnovers on the year and he is pretty inconsistent.Sometimes he looks great and other times he makes horrible decisions and throws. No guarantees they will be better but I think that's what is expected (and we should be better also). Their QB is the one who needs game experience but so does our QB. The team I saw from A&M tonight we can beat with our team right now. But if their QB gets better and our pass rush does not, then I just hate being in close games on the road.
